You may think your day job is just a paycheck, but it’s really more than that. It’s something that you will remember for the rest of your life — and hopefully with fondness — whether you’re ten years into it or nearing retirement. Below are some of the benefits of a mission statement.
1. You’ll look back on it with fondness When you’re in the thick of your career, you may not have a moment to reflect on what you’re doing. You’re too focused on what needs to be done next and how you’re going to get it done. But someday, when your job is all over but the shouting, you’ll look back and appreciate all that you accomplished.
2. It will help you make a living It doesn’t matter how many degrees you’re carrying around if you aren’t moving forward in your career. If you’re not learning new skills and growing, your job will start to feel like a waste of time because it won’t pay you what it needs to pay. It’s important that you find that work that keeps

3. It’s a purpose If you’re making a living doing something that you truly love, then what else could there be that’s more important than that? You’ll turn to the career of your dreams because you won’t have to think about the money. Instead, it will all come as a natural byproduct of living your passions.
4. Your hobbies will come to life If you find a job that challenges you, then odds are that your interests will be stimulated. When that happens, it’s important to want to continue learning or improving your skills because that will shape or mold the career you’ve always wanted.
5. You can get help with your resume There are many reasons to update your resume. Maybe you want to show off an accomplishment, or maybe you want to highlight a skill that you’ve perfected. Either way, keeping your resume up to date can help you land the job of your dreams. If you’re trying to decide if a career is for you, then make sure it encompasses all of these traits. If not, then your career may become a job, and a job never takes the place of a career.
