Youth and Play Work Volunteer Opportunities Training Programme Introductory Session: Thursday 3rd November, 6.30pm to 8.30pm Youth work is aimed at young people 13 to 19 years of age (24 years for young people with special needs) and Play Work is aimed at young people 4 to 11 years of age (16 years for young people with special needs) If you are 18+ and would like to volunteer to work with children and young people in any of Brighton & Hove City Council's Youth and Play Service settings, then you may want to attend our Volunteer Training Programme. The programme runs over 15 hours and provides a basic introduction to the Brighton & Hove Youth and Play Service. All sessions must be attended to successfully complete the programme. The programme is aimed at adults with no relevant qualification. The next Introductory Session is Thursday 3rd November, 6.30pm to 8.30pm at Jubilee Library. After attending the Introduction Session you will choose to go on to complete either the Youth or Play Work Training Programmes, both will take place Saturday 19th November and Saturday 26th November, 9.30 till 4pm at different venues. The Youth Work Programme will cover the volunteer agreement, young people's needs and issues, procedures, protocols and relationships (including safeguarding), the core values of youth work, equality - challenging discrimination, prejudice and bullying. The Play Work Programme ‘Time to Play’ covers; supporting children’s play, playing for everyone equal opportunities, health and safety awareness, child protection and teamwork.
