Become an Apprentice! As employees, apprentices earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain skills. Apprentices also receive valuable training to work towards nationally recognised st qualifications. The minimum salary is £2.60 per hour (rising to £2.65 from 1 October 2012) however, apprentices can earn significantly more. There may be different entry requirements depending on the apprenticeship and the industry sector. Competition for places can be fierce so you will need to show you are committed.

Albion in the Community (AITC) are recruiting 16-18 year olds for an Activity Leadership Apprenticeship within their brand new state of the art training facilities situated at the at the American Express Community Stadium to start in September 2012. An Apprenticeship allows you to gain a nationally recognised qualification through the combination of ‘on the job’ and ‘off the job training’ and allows you to ‘earn while you learn’. The Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Activity Leadership (QCF) is designed for those leading activity sessions in Sport and Active leisure, offering taster recreational sessions for sporting activities in various settings. Eligibility: • 16-18 years old as of the 31/08/2012 • Ideally interested in football, but not essential! • English and Maths grades A-C desirable or a willingness to work towards • Achieve qualifications listed above • Positively represent Albion in the Community (AITC) • Represent AITC in community events • Lead sessions and activities • Football and Multi-sports coaching in the community • Flexibility to work a range of roles and different hours each week

Retail Ready People is an exciting FREE 12-week programme for 16 – 25 year olds, which gives you the chance to set up and run a high street shop in your local area. Currently running in Brighton and Enfield, RRP provides training and support as well as practical skills and experience to help you find a job or develop a career you’ll love! Working with a team of volunteers, you'll take part in a series of fun, interactive workshops to help you develop key retail skills. Then you'll put your skills into action, by transforming an empty shop to a creative retail space at the heart of your community. You'll be responsible for managing all aspects of your shop, including customer experience, visual merchandising, stock control, branding, PR, marketing, finance, decorating shop-fitting and staffing. At the end of the project, you will have: • • • •
Worked with other volunteers to design, launch and run a local high-street shop Gained great retail training and experience to help you get promoted or get a new job Developed a range of skills including customer experience, visual merchandising, stock control, branding, PR, marketing, finance and staffing.
