What is the Landscape Partnership Portal?
A Landscape-scale Conservation Approach
The Landscape Partnership (LP) portal is an interactive platform where landowners and professionals from any agency, organization or industry can share technical information, host GIS mapping products and a variety of decision-support tools, view and download online learning materials, find out about partnership activities and newly funded projects, and identify technical experts who are available to provide assistance.
The Landscape Partnership portal has been designed to provide integrated capabilities not found elsewhere to serve partnership communities and assist them in achieving their goals by identifying shared areas of interest, developing the tools and products necessary for action, and helping coordinate conservation delivery.

Enhance our quality of life, help communities become resilient to environmental change and natural disasters, and sustain the natural and cultural resources we care about.
Bring together different organizations, expertise, science and sectors to tackle long-term conservation challenges.
Priority Themes in the Landscape Partnership
LANDSCAPE CONSERVATION
Working withpartners beyond boundaries to conserve priority landscapes that sustain people, wildlife, and natural and cultural resources.
COASTAL AND COMMUNITY RESILIENCE
Working with partners to help strengthen natural areas to protect coastal communities against the impacts of change and natural disasters (e.g. flooding and intense storms).
AT-RISK SPECIES
Working with partners to con serve and recover important species and habitats that provide natural benefits to people.
AQUATIC CONNECTIVITY

Video Overview of Appalachian LCC NatureScape Design: Paul Leonard of Clemson University provides an overview of the Appalachian LCC NatureScape research. The first part of the presentation focuses on phase one of the project, which identified key conservation elements in the region that are essential for sustaining biodiversity and the benefits of nature. He then summaries the next steps in the research, where Clemson researchers and technical teams will refine the initial phase by selecting metrics of aquatic integrity o fit into the conservation design framework, determine resolution for region-wide aquatic integrity index, and discuss major threats to aquatic systems and determine best scale to examine integrity.

Energy, climate change, ecosystem services, and how society values these services - such as clean drinking water, outdoor recreation, and biological conservation - are key issues influencing the landscape. These issues and drivers of change are essential to understand and plan for in the management and protection of both natural and cultural resources in order to create a more sustainable landscape for wildlife and human communities.

COMPANION SITES Target Species
Working Lands for Wildlife (WLFW) was initiated in 2012 and there are eight nationally-identified target species. In 2016 a Request for Proposals was circulated to the NRCS State Offices whereby they could work with local partners to identify additional species for state-run WLFW 2.0 partnership efforts. In response to this RFP, 12 additional species and habitat efforts were approved to launch in 2017, and another 4 in 2018. This portal workspace will initially service the eastern, south and mid-western target species (9). The habitat needs of these species are representative of healthy, functioning ecosystems where conservation efforts benefit a much broader suite of species.

Communication Strategies
• Match stories and desired outcome with appropriate audiences based on their needs
• Identify testimonials and success stories
• Develop multi-media approaches to communicating our approach: data illustration, graphic map, podcast
• Recast messages on climate to focus on economic and community benefits, and align with partners who also communicate about these issues
