CASA - CON

After the 2017 earthquake, Colonia Centro at Ciudad de Mexico had serious structural problems in many of its buildings. This project seeks to rescue the building located at Ayuntamiento #165 and create a new program that will be a trigger for the area.

It is analyzed that this area has many schools, high schools and universities so

it is proposed to join the property #165 (building damaged by the earthquake) and #169 (currently parking lot) and create a new style of collective housing for students with common areas, rest, work, etc.

The façade of the pre-existence is respected and a volume is proposed at the rear that is linked to the architecture of what was this residential building in the past.

The project has three types of rooms for students. Type A is the smallest, for one person and has a closet and desk. Type B is two twin rooms that share the same bathroom and finally type C is a loft that has a bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette.

The structural system is bubbledeck slab for its light weight and load-bearing capacity. It is also taken as a decision because the balls inside the concrete are 100% recycled and that helps the enviorment.

LABOR DOCENTE

Winners of the design and fabrication of the teaching recognition from the Universidad Anahuac Mexico Norte.

A great teacher communicates his knowledge in a horizontal way, just like the movement of the great machinery that slides over the ground of a marble mine in order to extract its large and valuable pieces.

This inspired us to develop a solid piece which we interpret as the teacher’s knowledge, the dedication of the teacher to his students is represented as the carving of the monolith, this gesture is intended to convey the delivery of time and knowledge that the teacher makes to his students.

TRAMA

Project for Venice Biennale 2020. The goal is to create an ongoing dialogue that encourages the exploration of how design and technology evolve together.

Different techniques were explored to develop approaches that view the design of a Mexican fabric from different perspectives. The fine line between technology and design allowed for a discussion on where the fields will be heading in the near future, at what point does design replace human skills, and how can they grow together in a healthy symbiosis?

The result is a piece that can ultimately function as a lattice in other projects.

Short-listed project in “LIBGEN” competition. The history of Warsaw consists of many periods of light and many periods of darkness. I think of a futuristic library where we can represent the history of libraries, the history of books, even the history of every human being. The essence of the library is to convey what it is to see into a future of light and innovation, but not to leave aside the honor of the past, which is history.

The public library seeks to be a monument to history and at the same time a landmark in cities to emphasize the importance of education and knowledge.

Participant project in Iceland Thermal Springs Guest House architecture competition.

Hotel Boutique located in Iceland. The concept creates an opening or “fissure” in the site generated by opposing stresses. This hole makes the building sink and generates a underground architectural program.

This project seeks to achieve maximum comfort for guests by making them feel part of Iceland and have direct contact with nature. The spaces inside the building create a mystical atmosphere.

HOTEL EL BORDE

Hotel El Borde is a project that is integrated to the specific conditions of the site, the landscape and the topography of the place seeking to create a project that invites guests to an atmosphere of peace and tranquility immersed in the grandeur of nature.

Project located within the Rancho Las Cuevas. It has 6,000 hectares and is located 20km from Guerrero Coahuila. Today it is one of the most privileged places in the world for white-tailed deer hunting.

After a conversation with the owners of the ranch, a way to generate income from other activities within the ranch is sought. A master plan is proposed to the family, boutique hotel, a series of remodeling and program annexes are proposed for the hunters’ camp area. Finally, to generate a summer camp for children. The decision is made to start with the development of the hotel.
