THE CONCEPT Anne Valerie Hash x Dover Street Market Anne Valerie Hash for Dover Street Market takes inspiration from the land of the rising sun this Spring Summer 2013 with a prĂŞt-Ă -porter collection, featuring tailored separates and fluid draped pieces that blend the wearable with French haute couture. The collection for this Spring Summer 2013 is an interpretation on furoshiki, a traditional practice originating from Japan that elevates the method of wrapping gifts, food packs, and other items with the use of cloth. The silhouettes accordingly are a fusion of east and west with the combination of draped and tailored pieces. From wrapped cloth another interpretation of wrapping by tying things together, is interpreted in this collection by the use of braided rope motifs. Both are key elements that bring together a strong femininity in the five looks shown here.

Highlighting Burberry Prorsum’s bespoke heritage in men’s tailoring, and by referencing Edwardian menswear in womenswear, there is a strong consideration for a stiff high collar and tailored coat that is both smart and contemporary. Complementary accessories may come in the form of an English bowler hat, ties or ribbons, and clutches with the graphic Burberry check.
