It had been a long DAY for JESUS and His DISCIPLES. Crowds of PEOPLE had gathered to hear Jesus preach and teach.

could keep the water from filling up the boat.

Now it was night and Jesus was tired. "Let's go across the LAKE to the other side," Jesus said to His FRIENDS.

"We're going to SINK. We will all DROWN." another one groaned. The men were full of FEAR. What could they do?

Jesus and His disciples started across the lake in the BOAT. Someone found a PILLOW for Jesus and He laid down in the boat and went to sleep.

Then a bolt of LIGHTNING flashed overthe boat and the men saw Jesus lying asleep. Suddenly, they remembered Him.

"It's no use," one cried. "The water is coming in faster than we can dip it out of the boat!"

"Master, save us!" they cried out.

As the men rowed out in the calm WATERS of the lake, they talked about what Jesus had taught that day. Suddenly loud THUNDER shattered the quiet evening and dark clouds hid the bright STARS. RAIN began to beat on the little boat and a strong WIND blew the boat about. Suddenly the men noticed water spilling overthe sides ofthe boat. Nothing they could do

At once Jesus stood among them. He commanded the storm, "Be still." Immediately the STORM stopped. The CLOUDS moved away from the MOON and the stars could be seen again. The lake was perfectly CALM. "Jesus is a very special Man," the disciples said to each other. "Even the wind and waters obey Him!" 13
