She maintains a personal studio and strives to continuously learn, teach and create new artwork. Shelly produces and sells commercial and commissioned pottery locally and internationally. While she primarily uses an electric kiln, Shelly enjoys all types of alternative firing methods which include Raku, barrel, saggar and pit firings. Her interest in clay began as a child in the late 1960s, when she made mud pies using dirt and leaves in her rural backyard.
