Raku Firing Event Age(s) 16 + Interested in learning about American Raku? This evening workshop event will allow you to get a brief overview of the process of firing using this alternative style of decorative ceramics. Participants will choose a bisque form to glaze at the event, and will have the opportunity to learn a little bit about the history and the nature of the process. The glazed forms will be fired in a portable gas kiln and reduced in cans – which is where the distinctly metallic, crackled, and/ or black surface of American Raku is developed. Participants will be able to take home their forms at the end of the event. This type of firing involves removing work from a very hot kiln – (we will be firing to about 1800-1850 degrees Fahrenheit) and working around an open flame. 336154-A

Customer Reward Program We’ve redesigned our Customer Rewards Program to provide residents and non-residents with immediate savings. Our new program gives you an immediate 10% discount when you sign up for classes during the first two weeks of registration. This exciting new program begins with the Spring 2014 season. Beginning January 2014, Kettering residents will no longer accrue reward points when registering for classes. Additionally, any points you currently have will expire December 31, 2014. If you have any questions stop by any information desk. 17
