President’s Message Chandler, with us; he made sure we received the best of service. Thanks, John, and well done Arthur and Sharon. Into October now and Jim and Moira Cowpe hosted a delightful afternoon tea at their daughter Victoria’s glorious pub in North Yorkshire. By all accounts, all who were there had a great time and a repeat next year is all ready in the diary.
Time flies in this job! It hardly seems a moment since I penned my first message for this splendid publication. So, before going further, may I say thank-you, on all our behalves, to Sharon Potts for putting this together so well. Since last writing, much has been happening: Early in September, there was a cheery lunch meeting, hosted by George Ayres and his colleagues in the Manchester Branch. The following week saw a full Committee meeting at the Oriental Club in London. This was well attended and my thanks go to all who travelled, especially from the North of England. That same evening, the Late Summer BBQ took place at the Club and over 50 ORs and guests enjoyed a thoroughly entertaining ‘do’, with spectacular food and equally spectacular company, representing those who had been at Rossall from the 1940s to the 2000s – all seemingly happy in each other’s company. The following week saw Rossall’s golfers competing in the Grafton Morrish Competition. They had done well to qualify for the finals at Hunstanton but, sadly, were early casualties there, losing to a particularly strong Monmouth team. A few days thereafter, the Rossallian Golfing Society, headed up by Arthur Stephenson had its Autumn meeting at Blackwell GC. Another successful day out and it was especially good to have current students playing. Needless to say, the main prizes went to the youngsters! It was a delight to have the Captain of Blackwell GC, John Markham, a fellow Wax
By the time this article sees the light of day, we shall have had what was a moving Service of Remembrance, a German Dinner in Hamburg and the traditional Carol Service in Chapel in December. All, in their own individual ways, demonstrate the wide panoply of interests involving both past and present members of Rossall School and, as such, are highly valued. Reflecting on the first few months of my Stewardship, I would comment: • How fortunate we are in having such a number of good people who are genuinely wanting the School to succeed and who are willing to use their own expertise and, in many cases, money, to ensure such success is achieved. • We (ORs) are lucky too in having a Head who is interested in our welfare and who is willing to lead the School in supporting our activities. • There is much for the Committee to do – our September meeting made that clear - and the turn of the year should show some broadening of our initiatives (easy to write, but more difficult to put into effect!). • Being a ‘rugger nut’, I am delighted that the game is still alive. Hopefully, we can produce a competitive VII for the Sevens Season. I know we are returning to Birkenhead Park for the Quilter Cheviot North of England Invitation Sevens Tournament on the 4th March and also to Rosslyn Park for the HSBC National Sevens toward the end of March. Touchline support from us,ORs, will be greatly appreciated, as would any ideas as to where to stay in South-West London( not hosting!); I look forward to seeing folk at both. • Lilias and I have both been struck by the warmth of greeting extended to us as we travel around. It is not only a privilege, but a real joy to meet so many who are involved with Rossall. I particularly

President’s Message appreciate how fortunate I am to have been at the School; what a fine place it was and still is, and will continue to be despite the difficulties currently existing in the world of education. That said, the School needs our ongoing support. For 2018, there are already two major events in the calendar: the first being the OR Weekend on Saturday 21st April, with Dinner in the Dining Hall on Saturday evening being the highlight (although Ian Preston may think Ross Hockey on the shore is the highlight!). Last year, we saw some 160 guest sitting down – can we up it to 200 this year? It really is a thoroughly worthwhile exercise and Lilias and I look forward to seeing you there. Elsewhere in this magazine is the programme for the OR pilgrimage to the Battlefields, running from Thursday 31st May to Monday 4th June. I do not propose to go into detail here – sufficient to say that we expect to have a full coach (40 or so), so don’t hesitate any longer!
May I also commend to you all, particularly those in the 18-25 year-old age bracket, the offer from the Oriental Club in London. Be assured the Club is a ‘Good Place’ in which to be, with especially good food, comfortable en-suite bedrooms and a friendly atmosphere.Several of us are members, so I/we look forward to welcoming any newcomer(s). Further information can be found on the website. Meantime, as I say, by the time you read this, Christmas will have gone – again –and we shall be into the New Year. Lilias joins me in wishing you a happy, peaceful and successful 2018.
Graeme Marrs MBE (J & F 51-57)
Doubtless, there will be much more to occupy us in 2018; Halford Hewitt golf immediately springs to mind and we are considering another dinner similar to those at Lords and Twickenham. Stay tuned!

“I particularly appreciate how fortunate I am to have been at the School”
A Word from The Head, Elaine Purves It has been a pleasure to meet a number of ORs at some very convivial events this term. Back in September, the Oriental Club was the setting for the Late Summer Barbecue, which is always a pleasure to attend. It is encouraging to see the number of younger ORs attending events such as this increasing. The Manchester Lunch was also an ideal opportunity to meet up with some new and familiar faces to share news from the School and the OR Carol Service in December was, as always, the perfect way to end the year. After October half-term I headed to Vietnam, visiting schools, meeting agents and attending recruitment events. Despite my hectic schedule, I was able to meet up with a number of ORs and their families, as well as former colleagues. It is heart-warming to know that our international audiences remain interested in all things Rossallian and I hope to get out to as many events as possible in 2018. This year, we are celebrating 40 years since the arrival of girls at Rossall and there will be a number of special events during OR Weekend to mark this occasion. I am on a mission to swing the balance to this year’s OR Dinner being a female-dominated event in honour of the 40th anniversary of the 1st Yr7 girls. My plea to all our female ORs: please do come along and join our celebrations and bring with you any school photographs and memorabilia you may have. We will also be contacting former female colleagues and inviting them to attend so do spread the word wherever you can. I hope that by the time you read this that you have had a peaceful and happy Christmas. I look forward to seeing many of you in 2018. With all good wishes for the New Year.
A word from The Secretary, Ian Preston (J&Pe 66-73) The Management Committee has been working hard to identify areas that the Rossallian Club can develop to the greater benefit of its members and the School. We have particularly identified a key area to be networking, encompassing careers development for both students and Old Rossallians and general social and business links between ORs. For some years we have been battling with a database that has not been conducive to promoting the ‘networking’ we believe to be such an important element of our Club. We have given up the battle with the old system and are awaiting the implementation of a new package which is promised to give us what we need to enhance all that we are trying to achieve and give us and members of The Club the ability communicate with one another more readily. Data Protection is an aspect we have to be very wary of, but we hope that soon a database will be available for members to access names and addresses pretty much as we could with the old ‘Blue Book’, last published over twenty years ago. ORs will be able to include as much information as they would like (within reason) to be available to the Rossallian community. This year, you will be receiving a data capture enquiry, which I would ask you complete as diligently and as soon as possible. At this point you may well wish to opt out, but I would hope not. We would also like to hear a lot more of your news to spice up our Newsletter. Old photographs would also be very welcome and any other items of memorabilia that might be appropriate for inclusion in our rapidly developing archive. Please help us to help you.

Branch reports Manchester Lunch
Old Rossallians and friends gathered in the Gold Suite at the Deanwater Hotel for our annual lunch. The weather was good so we were able to have a group photograph taken outside. The meal was excellent. We heard a promising report from The Head, Elaine Purves, which was followed by our President, Graeme Marrs, giving us an understanding of his aspirations for the next few years. As is our tradition we finished proceedings with The Carmen. It was pleasing to see a few new faces. Some of our ORs gave their apologies due to other commitments or illness. Those present were George Ayres, Elaine Purves, Graeme Marrs, Guy and Jenny Wright, Roger Bott, Ian Preston, Neville Johnson, Mark Rubin, Roger and Chris Walker, Peter and Helen Hardern, David Evans, Alf Tansey, Henry Shepherd, Jane Holden, Roger and Judith Eaves, Polly Eaves, James Barker and Kevin and Christine Barker. North Yorkshire Gathering A first ever get-together for Rossallians living in and around the North Yorkshire borders was held at The Buck Inn, Thornton Watlass in October. It proved to be a great success. Guests spent a good few hours reminiscing and chatting to each other before enjoying a splendid afternoon tea provided by hosts Vicki Jowett (nee Cowpe) (JS 75-80) and Tony Jowett. Everyone agreed that a similar event should take place in 2018. Those present were Roger and Chris Walker, Alf and Sandie Tansey, Jim and Moira Cowpe, Mr and Mrs Graham Freeman, Mr and Mrs Alfred Brown, Mr and Mrs Mike Harford-Cross, Mr and Mrs Anthony Pearson, Geoffrey Simpson, Nimble Thompson, Jonathan Freeman and Vicki and Tony Jowett.
For a list of forthcoming events, please see page 20 of this magazine. All Old Rossallians and their guests are welcome to join us.

Late Summer BBQ Another successful Late Summer BBQ took place at the Oriental Club at the end of September, where guests were treated to the elaborate ‘winter marquee’ situated on The Terrace. Guests spanning 6 generations mingled and reminisced about their Rossall days and, as the evening drew cooler, comfortable seating, warm blankets and patio heaters were all on tap for those who needed it. A delicious feast was provided by the catering team at the Oriental Club and many guests were tempted to go back for seconds. The Head, Elaine Purves, gave a brief update from Rossall and President, Graeme Marrs, spoke about his aspirations for the future of The Club. The numbers attending this event each year continue to grow and we are grateful to Mike Jones for his help in securing this prestigious venue in the heart of London.

German Dinner Hamburg was the setting for this year’s German Dinner and the Rheinsch Republik Restaurant set in the heart of the city was an ideal venue for ORs to meet up. Guests enjoyed a traditional German menu whilst catching up with each other as well as meeting Graeme Marrs from the Rossallian Club and Doris Dohmen and Sharon Potts from the School. It was pleasing to welcome some new faces and we hope that the 2018 Dinner will attract even more guests.
We are keen to extend this event to other parts of Europe and would be delighted to hear from ORs who may wish to help organise/host an event in future. Please contact s.potts@rossall.org.uk if you are interested.

OR Carol Service This year’s OR Carol Service was perhaps even more joyous by taking place only two days before Christmas. Guests were truly in the ‘Christmas Spirit’ and once again enjoyed a first class performance by Rossall Chapel Choir, led by Margaret Young and ably assisted by a number of ORs including Jonny Chard, Matthew Baldwin, Jane Wilkinson, Sam Jones, Peter Bowden, Jennie Cooper, Joshua Lee, Jonathan Lee, Oliver Cross and Sarah Gordon. Readings were given by Sophie Addison, Peter Bowden, Jennie Cooper, Dorothy Calderbank, Claire Yates, Matthew Baldwin, Fiona Oldham, Graeme Marrs and The Head. After the service, mulled wine and mince pies were served in the Dining Hall before many of our younger revellers went on to enjoy the rest of their evening in town.

Sports Round Up Rossallian Golfing Society The golfing Gods have been kind to us this year. After a sparkling day at Fleetwood in April, I feared they might get their revenge at Blackwell, where we held our Autumn Meeting on 4th October, but in the event, if not sparkling, at least it was dry. The course was as good as ever, if playing very long, and was a stiff test for all the OR’s on parade, and for your correspondent, particularly so. Blackwell is an ideal venue for this sort of event, and made us most welcome. Their Club Manager, Sarah Holroyd, daughter in law of David Holroyd, our distinguished member of the Rossallian Club Committee, attended most delightfully to our every need. We had a respectable entry of 33 playing on the day, 23 ORs, 2 wives and 8 pupils from the School’s Golf Academy, which is proving to be a great success story. The entry would have been boosted by a further 5, who were so indebted to their former Housemaster, Alan Clube, that they felt bound to attend his Memorial Service, being held that day further South. Alan must have been a very fine Housemaster to engender such devotion, though being a keen sportsman himself, I wasn’t convinced that he would necessarily have approved of his former pupils missing an important golf engagement! Never the less, this was a good entry, and most of those attending thought that holding the event in the Midlands was a worthwhile experiment. Several ORs drove a very long way to attend, and it was a particularly good effort of David and Anne James, and John Milne to come up from South Devon and Hampshire respectively. The boys and girl from school arrived by minibus, and looked very smart in their blue livery, as they joined us all for a bacon roll lunch, and I am most grateful to the staff who brought them, and to Bethany, the Golf Academy Assistant, who acted as our official photographer and Recorder, and of course to Sharon Potts, our Alumni Relations Manager, without whose help, these events just wouldn’t happen. There is no hiding place at Blackwell for the shy or reluctant golfer! Our party sat enjoying our bacon roll lunch in the large bay window of the main club room, which is barely a couple of feet from the elevated first tee, and so each of us, in turn, had our golfing shortcomings horribly exposed to close scrutiny. John Milne suggested that the curtains should be drawn before risking his own humiliation, but his suggestion was turned down. It must be said that the first tee shot is a formidable challenge, having to carry 180 yards over a valley, before topping the hill beyond, to reach a narrow fairway. Most of our number, however, made a creditable effort, including John Milne, though all fell way short of our eventual winner from school, 16 year old Louis Talarczyk, whose drive was still rising strongly as it passed the drive of even the longest hitting ORs. Louis scored 37 points, and completed the course in 70 gross, which was a superb score on a difficult course. In fact, the school contingent, perhaps not surprisingly, dominated the Leader Board, winning five of the six prizes (we may have to adjust their handicaps in future!). Only our ‘mystery’ OR, Peter Millard, saved the complete white-wash, winning 3rd prize. Mystery man, because when he arrived at the last minute, to claim his bacon roll, no one knew who he was, from whence he had come, or for that matter, to where he was going afterwards? Was he an impostor, we wondered, who’d heard there was some easy money to be won at Blackwell that day? No, he was the real deal, Anchor House (72-78), but where has he been all these years? “The school contingent, perhaps not surprisingly, dominated the Leader Board”
that formidable octogenarian, and I, had the great pleasure of playing with him. He struck the ball prodigious distances, mostly straight, and is the best 17 handicap golfer either of us had ever seen. We had a most enjoyable round, and indeed everyone playing in the event said so too – even the only two lady OR wives playing, Anne James and Sue Henney, who battled bravely to complete the long course. Sadly, the only big disappointment this year has been our failure to attract more lady golfers to come and join us, and I really hope we can improve on that next year. So, come on ladies, where are you? After golf, we were very honoured to be joined for supper by the Captain of Blackwell Golf Club, John Markham, along with our President Graeme Marrs, who both gave short, amusing speeches, as well as by 14 senior non-playing ORs, including Alf Tansey, Paul Corkill, Mike Reece and Geoff Muscutt, both members of victorious Halford Hewitt sides of yester year. John Whitlock, leader of the Birmingham ORs and Christian Butler, a member of our current Halford Hewitt team, and Captain of our Cyril Gray team, also attended, and they were all most welcome. It was a very good day, and one I think everyone enjoyed. Next year our Spring meeting will be held at Ilkley Golf Club on Sunday 29th April. Again, Ilkley is a really fine club, with a lovely course, beneath Ilkley Moor, and I strongly recommend it to you. Our Autumn Meeting will be at Royal Mid Surrey Golf Club on Thursday October 4th, again a fine course, probably already known to many of you, and it will be interesting to see what kind of support we get for this venue from our London and Southern ORs. So please put these dates into your diaries now, and spread the word to any other ORs, their wives and partners, who you think might be persuaded to join us. The feedback I have received so far from our members (who have played in one or both of this year’s Meetings), suggests that they are broadly in favour of the current arrangements, that there should be, for now anyway, two meetings each year, but that over a two year period, three of them should be Northern based, with the other conveniently placed to suit our Southern members. The feedback also showed a marked preference for playing on the best courses available to us at a reasonable cost, and with this in mind I plan to include Royal Liverpool (at Hoylake), Royal Birkdale, and Silloth in Cumbria (a jewel of a course!). Finally, can I thank most warmly, all those of you who have supported the meetings this year, and can I make a plea to all those who haven’t yet been able to join the party, to please do so in 2018! Arthur Stephenson (MC 54-61) Hon Sec., Rossallian Golf Society

Sports Round Up Rossall Ladies Hockey Club I find myself writing this whilst sitting with a celebratory glass of wine, happily reflecting on the first half of the season for Rossall Ladies Hockey Club. The last few years have seen many changes for our little club; growing, diversifying by necessity, and a great deal of hard work by committee members to form a future for the Club whilst retaining a close connection to Rossall School and the values we live and play by - Mens Agitat Molem. It is a great feeling to be in a position where are have a close-knit, hardworking, friendly and welcoming team atmosphere with a range of ages, abilities and backgrounds which have produced some fantastic results. Speaking of fantastic results, so far this season the team have travelled to and welcomed nine clubs from Division 1 of the Lancashire Central Women’s Hockey league, remaining undefeated in all of our nine matches (hence the glass of celebratory wine!). In fact, of the nine matches Rossall have won all but one (which was a draw), managing to secure 25 points out of a possible 27 and score 34 goals - amazing stuff ladies! We have encouraged Rossall students to get involved and have been supported both in goal and outfield by some very talented young players; kudos to them as it is not easy to play against experienced,
older players at times (I remember this from my school days, as many who played in the women’s league at the time also will) but they have taken to the challenge like ducks to water! We now look forward to the second half of the season and the challenges this may bring. The job is not quite done yet but the division (and promotion) is ours for the taking! If you, or anyone you know, would like to start playing please get in touch with us, we welcome new players with open arms as I hope a lot of the current team can testify to. We will also try to arrange more ‘fun’ tournaments and matches at certain times of the year for those OR ladies who aren’t around on a regular basis. Alex Holden (JS&Dn 97-07) Chair
The Old Rossallian Lodge Meeting Despite a wet start to the day and many of our members being absent through illness, we held a very successful lodge meeting at the Fleetwood Masonic Hall, graced by the presence of the PGM of West Lancashire. Jason Davies (O&MF 84-91) was initiated whilst his partner, other members, ladies and other visitors were very well looked after and entertained at the School by Dr Nick Lister at the Astronomy Centre, followed by a musical performance by the students and a Chapel Service. We are indebted to the Rev. Etienne van Blerk and Canon Rev. Godfrey Hurst. Harvey Stansfield, the Organist, and Margaret Young the Musical Director and the Rossall Choir can be proud of their performances. We then enjoyed a Champagne Reception in the Sumner Library followed by a magnificent Banquet in the Dining Hall. Nothing was too much trouble for Tim Fletcher and the catering team and the food was the best yet. Finally, thanks are due to Ray Hargreaves for all his effort and most of all to The Head, Elaine Purves for welcoming us back and for keeping us up-to-date with Rossall’s progress. Floreat Rossallia! John Adam (Pe 63-68)

In Memoriam Alex Jones (SE 82-87) William Nield (M 43-47) Jonathan Shaw (MC 87-91) Michael Whitehead (A 48-54)
William Henry Bowker MBE JP (DC 49-54) Always known as Bill, he passed away in September after a short illness. Bill was a member of a small group of real friends in Dragon Crescent who kept in touch with each other throughout life. Although soccer mad whilst at school, forever talking about Blackburn Rovers and his beloved Wycollar Wasps (who?), Bill threw himself into all sports. He was a ferocious tackler on the rugby field and a key member of the bully on the hockey shore. On numerous occasions, he would dislocate his shoulder and we would assist him to restore the joint to its rightful position. In no time whatsoever he would be back for the next house match. He was a founder member of Rossall’s Economics Department, which we ‘non-cognoscenti’ regarded as a joke. The joke, however, was on us because at the age of 19, upon the death of his father, Bill had to take the reins of the family transport business, which had only just been de-nationalised. He, together with younger brother Ken and later generations of the family, established Bowker International Transport Company with nine sites in the UK and several on the continent. The company is also a major motor dealership, holding such prestigious marques as BMW, Mini, Maserati, Porsche and Harley Davidson. In the community, Bill was closely involved with many charity organisations and was an active patron of the Ribble Valley Conservative Association, eventually becoming the Chairman. He was also Chairman of the Blackburn Magistrates and was awarded an MBE in 2006. He was a man who actively always wanted to help and support others. He was what I call a ‘good Rossallian’; he sent his son to Rossall, hardly ever missed a Triennial Dinner, attended countless other Rossallian gatherings and supported the Rossall Foundation. He was a great ambassador for the School. He will be very much missed by his son William, daughter Elizabeth (his wife Rosemary passed away in 2013) and all members of his family and countless friends. Jim Cowpe (J&DC 49-55)
John Barry Knight (MC 52-57) Barry sadly passed away in October, age 78, at his home in Cheshire. He was a great supporter of the Rossallian Club and attended many meetings and events. He loved his time in MC and excelled at sports, playing for the first XV. He made many lifelong friends and always enjoyed reunions and visiting the School whenever he could. One of his other great passions was his lifelong membership of Chester Rugby Football Club, where he was a keen supporter. Testament to this was the huge turn-out at his funeral.

“Bill was a member of a small group of real friends”
Alan Clube (1st May 1936 - 19th September 2017) Alan was born in London on May Day 1936. Between wartime evacuations and his father’s military postings his childhood was spent in various locations before settling in Leatherhead, Surrey. He gained a scholarship to St John’s School where his love for physics, swimming, rugby and water polo flourished. A place at Christ Church, Oxford followed where he read Physics before switching to Mathematics. Having taught in the heat of East Africa for 4 years the family arrived at Rossall in 1962/63 to such a cold winter that even the sea on the Fylde coast froze! He told the Headmaster he would stay for 3 years but this eventually stretched to almost 30! He served as Head of Mathematics before becoming Housemaster of Fleur-de-Lys for 13 years. As Head of Maths he made Rossall the second school in the country to introduce computing. Those that attended his Maths lessons would have seen and felt the real passion that he had for his subject, although many pupils will no doubt also remember him for the schoolmasterly ‘growl’ he liked to put on, as well as favourite sayings such as, “You people go at two speeds; dead slow and stop”. Maths isn’t everyone’s favourite subject but Alan did
his bit to help and inspire many a reluctant Rossallian. He had a firm belief that each and every pupil had a talent and it was his task to help find and nurture it, an ethos he ran Fleur-de-Lys by. In 1992 he left Rossall to become Foundation Director at Trinity Grammar School in Sydney Australia where he and Gillian spent 6 very happy years before retiring to the UK to be near family. The last 18 years of retirement he spent in Syresham where he threw himself into Northamptonshire village life sitting on every committee possible, interspersed with the odd round of golf, and voluntary work for Rossall. He never lost his passion for maths though and up to just a few weeks before his death was still helping his grandchildren with their sums! He died after a short illness on the 19th September at the John Radcliffe Hosptial in Oxford with his wife, Gillian, and children Nick, Laurence and Amanda by his side. He will be greatly missed by all.
Timothy Phillip Edsall (F 49-53) Tim sadly died from cancer on the 18th January, after surgery six months previously which was not successful. Tim spent his early years in Tanworth-in-Arden, Warwickshire, where he joined the church choir as a treble. He went to prep school at Arden House, where he was introduced to Rugby Football. Having passed his Common Entrance exam, he came to Rossall in September 1949. Here he joined the choir as a tenor and was proud to be in a BBC broadcast from the School under Sir Thomas Beecham. He left Rossall in 1953 and spent two years doing his National Service. He then went on to qualify as a Chartered Auctioneer in 1960 and set up a thriving business, becoming well known and making many lifelong friends. He married Pam in 1963 and they had three sons of whom Tim was very proud. In later life he met Mame, with whom he spent fifteen happy years. Outside of work Tim had many interests; playing and then enjoying watching Rugby Football, sailing dinghies and off shore sailing, skiing, music and bridge. However, perhaps his preferred sport was golf. He was a member of Ladbrook Park Golf Club from 1951 until he died, being a long serving committee member, Captain in 1975 and President in 1989. At one stage he had a handicap of 5. His other abiding interest was Rossall. He was an active member of the Midlands Branch Committee for over forty years and during that time he was chairman of The Globe Trust ( a charity which benefitted Rossall through OR David Jackson ) and he arranged the Autumn dinner at the Copt Heath Golf Club where he was also a member. I am sure many ORs who attended will remember the convivial occasions. Alf Tansey (F 49-54)

Genesis of the Jet Engine OR Ian Whittle (MC 48-52) once again delivered a first class lecture at Rossall on the life of his father, Sir Frank Whittle, inventor of the jet engine. In a full Museum Theatre, Ian spoke passionately about his father’s work and the struggles he faced with the invention which eventually changed the face of flying. A number of ORs came along to the lecture as well as staff, students, members of the public and a group of local air cadets. Ian’s journey to Rossall wasn’t without a hitch and his aircraft broke down in Cheshire; fortunately it was repaired in time for him to take the flight home the next day.

Foundation The Foundation is a charity set up to support the School and help it flourish. The difference that it can make to Rossall depends very much on the generosity of Parents and Old Rossallians. ROSSALL FOUNDATION RESTORE CCF HISTORY Rossall Foundation is delighted to have been able to restore the CCF Mace & Sash to its former glory. The Mace and Sash, previously worn by the Band Master, is over ninety years old. It is an item steeped in much history and to see it used once again by our cadets displays incredible pride in the journey of our Combined Cadet Force. The restoration of the pieces took three months and could not have been carried out without the generous donations of ORs and members of the Rossall Community to our Annual Appeal. The Annual Appeal has also allowed The Foundation to support the extend Information Technology provision in the Junior School, with 5 iPads and cases purchased. Additional access to technology in the Junior School will allow pupils to further explore their PYP Units of Enquiry in an up-to-date, hands on way. Support has also been extended to the Geography Department, aiding in the purchase of a Geographical Weather Station, an item that will allow students a deeper understanding of meteorology in their study.
The Rossall Foundation Charity raises money to support the development of Rossall School. It does so in a variety of ways:
