Mole Valley Skate Park
Specialist companyFearless Ramps’ dynamic skate park design has been installed at Leatherhead Leisure Centre and can now be enjoyed by eager riders of a skateboard, BMX or scooter, ready to test themselves on the new and improved layout and riding surface. Mole ValleyDistrict Council’s key play-related refurbishment project of 2019/20 saw the old facility’s ramps and half pipe removed and replaced with new heavy duty steel frame equipment. The new ramps and half pipe all have the popular Skatelite pro riding surface, which was keenly desired in the feedback received from users and local residents in the public consultations. Fearless Ramps’ proposal was overwhelmingly the most popular option put forward. It is hoped that work to install the new equipment over the summer will meet the vision and expectations that existing users and the manyrespondents to the consultations had for the site. Councillor David Draper, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “I am delighted to see that the now vastly improved and more modern skate park at Leatherhead Leisure Centre is ready for people of all ages to try out for themselves. The old facility was tired and outdated and there were plenty of examples of skate parks in other areas in Surrey that we aspired to. In my view, we have certainly achieved that and more with this refurbished facility, and I would like to thank everyone who took part in our consultations. They helped inform what was constructed, and this could not have been achieved without their input. “I am confident that news of this revitalised site will inspire people from other parts of the district and hopefully further afield to test themselves on the new equipment in addition, of course, to welcoming back existing users of this skate park, who I am sure will enjoy a far greater experience and challenge.”
