More and more voices are raised demanding that administrations and professionals take action to curb climate change. On January 1, Royal Decree 1051/2022 was implemented in Spain, establishing the rules for sustainable nutrition in agricultural soils and consolidating the changes announced in terms of slurry management. The new regulations seek to reduce gas emissions, especially ammonia, and avoid soil and aquifers contamination.
All those actions that can be implemented to reduce emissions are and will be welcome. However, it is not fair that the same financial sectors always be outlawed. In this sense, according to the Spanish emissions roster system, those derived from pork production represent only 2% of the total GHG (greenhouse gases) of the country, even though it is the third largest producer of pork in the world.
Aware of the need to contribute to making things better and better in favour of animal welfare, sustainability and coexistence with the environment, Rotecna created the Tecnapur product line in 2018. A clear commitment to the circular economy and the valorisation of slurry as an organic fertilizer (solid parts), as well as the use of the liquid part resulting from its management for the irrigation of agricultural farms. Solid-liquid separation, a physicochemical management system or slurry acidification are some of the solutions that hundreds of farmers are already implementing on their farms to reuse slurry and reduce gas emissions.
In this Rotecna World, we talk to farmers who invest in management systems and raise their voices in defence of the sector and its good work. We have the attitude and resources to provide solutions and move forward together on any environmental challenges that may arise.
