How to Upgrade the License from IP Base to IP Services on 3750-X Stack?

It’s a common problem that how to upgrade the License from IP Base to IP Services on 3750-X Stack? Many Cisco 3750 Series users had the problems that are related to Upgrading the License from IP Base to IP Services on 3750-X Stack. It’s tricky or not? Firstly, let’s see a typical issue here: Someone’s problem: After the upgradation when we do a "sh ver" we can see only switch 1 says "Next reload license Level: ipservices", not switch 2. Switch 2 specifies "Next reboot licensing Level : ipbase". Issue: To enable the "IPservices" license on the 3750X stack we are using the below commands

3750-sw01(config)#license boot level ipservices switch 1 3750-sw01(config)#license boot level ipservices switch 2 In switch 2, we can't go into config t mode to enter the above commands and config t mode fails. 3750-sw01-2#conf t ^ % Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

“I need to enable the "IPservices" license on the 3750X stack. I used the below commands 3750-sw01(config)#license boot level ipservices switch 1 3750-sw01(config)#license boot level ipservices switch 2

When I do a "sh ver" I can see only switch 1 says "Next reload license Level: ipservices", not switch 2. Switch 2 specifies "Next reboot licensing Level : ipbase". When I session to switch 2, I can't go into config t mode to enter the above commands. I am not quite sure why config t mode fails. 3750-sw01-2#conf t ^ % Invalid input detected at '^' marker. Purpose This document will attempt to track known reasons and workaround/fixes for this error. Output for "show license detail switch 1" and "show license detail switch 2"

3750-sw01#show license detail switch 1 Index: 1 Feature: ipbase License Type: Permanent License State: Active, In Use License Priority: Medium License Count: Non-Counted Store Index: 0 Store Name: Primary License Storage

Version: 1.0

Index: 2 Feature: ipservices Version: 1.0 License Type: Evaluation License State: Active, Not in Use, EULA accepted Evaluation total period: 8 weeks 4 days Evaluation period left: 8 weeks 4 days License Priority: Low License Count: Non-Counted Store Index: 0 Store Name: Evaluation License Storage

3750-sw01#show license detail switch 2 Index: 1 Feature: ipbase License Type: Permanent License State: Active, In Use License Priority: Medium License Count: Non-Counted Store Index: 0 Store Name: Primary License Storage

Version: 1.0

Index: 2 Feature: ipservices Version: 1.0 License Type: Evaluation License State: Active, Not in Use, EULA not accepted Evaluation total period: 8 weeks 4 days Evaluation period left: 8 weeks 4 days License Priority: None License Count: Non-Counted Store Index: 0 Store Name: Evaluation License Storage

Resolution Only the show and debug commands are available in a CLI session to a specific stack member. You cannot go to the config mode of the member switch when the switch is in the stack. From the output of second switch"Index 2", you can see that the EULA is not accepted, which means that the evaluation license for ip services is not selected yet. Only when EULA enabled, the show version would say that on its next reboot ipservices will be selected. Check whether you are getting “End User License Agreement" (EULA) when type "license boot level ipservices switch 2"?

If you do then it actually displays a very long message, and in the end it asks you if you would like to ACCEPT? (Yes/ No): --- if you choose "yes", it means that you have accepted the EULA, and then it displays a message saying on the next reboot ipservices will be used. If it doesn't display anything after you type "license boot level ipservices switch 2", would suggest you to unstack the member switches and upgrade the license to ipservices individually and the stack the switches. Someone talked about this issue that is related to Upgrading the License from IPbase to IPservices on 3750x Stack, and more detailed conversation you can read here https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11178776/uprading-licenseipbase-ipservices-3750x-stack The Issue from https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/63856/howupgrade-license-ipbase-ipservices-3750x-stack More Questions: “i am having a ws-3750x-12s-s switch. i want to upgrade it from ipbase to ip service. After installing ip service liciense file, when i gave command “show license detail" i found there 3 index. One is for ip base -active (permanent)...2nd is for ip service-active (permanent) 3rd is again ip service but inactive (period 8weeks 2days) , then i cleared 1st one by giving command "clear ipbase" and reboot. But still 2 index .both for ipservice one is permanent-active another is inactive. So my question is how can i remove 2nd index which one is inactive and time period for 8weeks and 2days..?? becasue i don't need it. And it will make any problem in future?? “
