MOTIVATION I am more focused on the continuation and sustainable development of architecture and the social responsibility that must be assumed. I look forward to finding a balance between traditional architecture and modern architecture development. If the course is specialized, the direction I am more interested in is the organic renewal of architecture. Because of the development of the whole society, each type of architecture is a product of the times. There are inextricable relationships between them, but now many people choose to change and dismantle and abandon the past. It's believed that it is a very unreasonable phenomenon. Hence, I want to explore how to develop ingeniously in architecture that you can see the past, present, and future of architecture. Therefore, if there is a dissertation project, I would prefer to study how architecture and regional cultural are connected , exploring more possibilities from different aspects and scales .

DESIGN BACKGROUND In recent years, in pursuit of modernization, Shaoxing has been demolishing and building. Anchang ancient town in Keqiao industrial zone is surrounded by numerous large factories. The traditional fabric of the a ncient town is gradua l ly eroded by la rge modern bu ildi ngs . Due to the lack of pu bl ic space, the ancient town has been in a backward and dilapidated state in the modern development. Therefore, people l ivi ng i n a ncient towns a re i n u rgent need of new elements to reignite the vita l ity of a ncient towns. The way to awaken Anchang ancient town is mainly 'organic renewal '. 'Organic ' means to find the texture from the historical context and reorganize it, so that the life of the ancient town continues and becomes more convenient. You still can see the image that with dense water atmosphere, boatmen wearing fur-felt hats slowly scour the lanes. As 'update ' means upgrading and sustainable development, this process ultimately result is harmonious coexistence between tourists and residents, the olds and the news.
DEVELOPMENT OF ANCHANG In the past, Anchang was suitable for living, but now it is seriously damaged and we need to consider how Anchang will develop healthily in the future.

STATUS QUO OF THE ANCIENT TOWN We can imagine a beautiful picture that people lived near small bridges and rivers and had a happy life in the past. However, Shaoxing copied the construction mode of the cities in the Yangtze river delta, resulting in the emergence of a large number of new buildings, thus destroying the texture and appearance of the ancient town.

CHANGES OF THE ANCIENT TOWN The construction of the many large buildings destroyed the original texture, so we keep the original space pattern , and we reframe town systems and use public space to connect the ancient town.

PROGRAM STRATEGY There are four typical spatial forms extracted from previous buildings . Namely: water and building, building and building, building and road, building interior. Then these are translated their characteristics into the prototype of modern architecture. We use these in different combinations to make designs that are suitable for local buildings.

AXONOMETRIC VIEW We use many public spaces to connect town together, and let people constantly meet, stay, coexist, left. The original traditional space is continuous, and on this basis of creating a new space for people to use, therefore, it not only remains the traditional life activity but also introduces a new way of life . Finally, the town attracts more people to live here and promote the prosperity of the town.

DESIGN BACKGROUND As a well-preserved ancient town in Shaoxing, Anchang attracts an increasing number of visitors with its traditional 'Jiangnan' (South of the Yangtze River in China) style. Most people think about the ancient towns in much the same way and there is no experience in the tourism industry, so the ancient town has no distinctive place. At the same time, buildings that are gradually ruined are no longer suitable for living, and a large number of buildings need to be improved . Therefore, the location of this experience hall was originally a run-down courtyard in the ancient town and the neighbors are traditional houses. After the change, they will not only organize various activities to serve tourists but also provide a place for the interation of residents in peacetime. Not only do we hope to create an experiential tour here, it will be rooted in Anchang, and architecture is the carrier of this experience. At the same time, the entire building is thinking about how to continue in the sustainable development of the ancient town, making full use of climatic conditions and renewable energy .
STATUS QUO OF THE ANCIENT TOWN The problem of ancient city development under the development of modern city is that traditional architecture cannot meet the needs of modern life .

BUILDING INTERIOR
A large gray space is formed at the entrance of the building, not only for the service building itself, but also for creating space for interaction.
Due to the setting of many sunroofs inside the building, people have more ways to communicate up and down.
TROMBE WALL The outer surface of the wall is coated with a dark selective coating to enhance the heat absorption and reduce the radiation heat dissipation , so that the wall becomes a heat collector, and the indoor temperature is realized by the opening and closing of the air holes and the movement of the movable heat insulating layer. During the winter, the heatcollecting wall and the air layer are heated by the greenhouse effect , and the air holes are opened to creat convectivion; the air holes are closed at night, and the wall is radiantly heated indoors, and the summer situation is reversed.
CONSTRUCTION MODEL The whole model clearly shows the
structure of the building, including the foundation, floors, the wall and the roof . The roof of the model focuses on planting roof which expresses the required structure in detail.

DESIGN BACKGROUND At present, aging of population has become a global problem in the 21st century. In China, with the implementation of the family planning policy and the great improvement in living and medical conditions, it officially entered the ranks of aging countries in 1999 and this phenomenon has been accelerating . After the 12th Five-Year Plan, China's elderly population had reached 221 million , accounting for 26% of the total. Therefore, the problem of aging in China is severe, and the development of social pensions is an inevitable trend. Compared with other regions. the population aging situation in economically developed cities is even more severe: at the end of 2017, the proportion of the elderly population in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou was 24.5%, 33.2%, and 18.03% respectively. As the population aging trend in Shanghai has become more intense, the traditional family pension model can no longer meet the elderly's living needs , and the existing land use is inadequate, equipment is incomplete, and there are few living modes .

DESIGN BACKGROUND Many People in modern Chinese society are impetuous , blind , confused , anxious , and materialistic . This is often because people lack a lot of time to think for themselves. In China, Buddhism has a far-reaching influence but has been shaken by the times, but this does not prevent it from becoming a beacon for many people to think about themselves. It exhorts people to experience suffering , and in the time of suffering, constantly wear off the greed, hatred, infatuation, delusion, pursuit, distinction, persistence, and when you have gone through everything, looking back to the past, you can know that contentment is blessing , and let nature be blessing. It is a blessing to lose. A life with regrets is also perfect. When you truly let go of greed and wickedness, realize awareness, mindfulness, and impunity. Only in this way, talents will not become slaves of desire , obey their hearts in time, and cultivate into Buddhas .

Ackonwledgement The collection is due to my hard work and my mentors, Prof. Li Jieqi, Prof. He Yizheng, and Prof. Zhou Xinmo who provided me with very valuable amendments and great support. I also sincerely thank them for their unique insights on architecture that can guide me in supporting my continued exploration in the field of architecture. At the same time, I also want to thank my family and friends, especially Ye aofeng and Huang Yi, who have always supported me, for they have accompanied me through the most difficult time with patience and understanding.
