Neethlingshof Estate located just outside the beautiful town of Stellenbosch in the heart of the Cape Winelands, is a well-known and popular destination for a unique food and wine pairing experience.

Neethlingshof Estate has a long and rich history of winemaking. The food and wine pairing experience offered to visitors is carefully put-together to showcase why food and wine work so well together, all while exploring the extensive range of award-winning wines.

Flash Food & Slow Wine Pairing

There’s nothing typical-takeaway about this fast-finger-food offering with a twist. The uncomplicated bites are packed with flavour, and are paired with world class wines, giving way to a truly special taste adventure. Think vegetable samosas with mango atchar, BBQ chicken kebabs with roasted tomato, prego rolls with chocolate shavings and a traditional mini malva pudding with a piece of liquorice!

A popular option in summer is the salmon and trout roulade which is replaced in winter with a hearty tomato soup.

Kiddies Pairing

A “Kids Pairing” is also on offer so that the little ones (or non-drinkers) don’t feel left out when you visit Neethlingshof!

The pairing consists of a BBQ chicken kebab, a cheese burger and chocolate brownie sponge paired with juices and milkshake.

Ormonde Barrel Selection Merlot 2015

Deep ruby in colour with a sweet aroma of ripe red plums and raspberry that has a lingering richness of mocha and chocolate on the palate. Smooth, well balanced tannin structure.

Food pairing: Pork belly roast with crispy crackling, a generous serving of red wine reduction and creamy mashed potato.

Spier Creative Block | 5 2018

Ruby red in colour, taste comprises of blackberry, cherry and blackcurrant supported by cedar, dark chocolate and fennel hints. The vibrant palate has great balance, dense tannins and the taste will be enhanced by ageing.

Alto Rouge 2020

A bright rich red, cedar and pine needles dominate the nose with hints of raspberries. Flavours of dark fruit with blackcurrent and hints of dried fennel come through. Excellent drinkability with aging potential.

A deep magenta hue with intense aromas of red fruits, raw cocoa and hints of cinnamon and cloves. Elegant and luscious smooth tannins with French oak results in a full-bodied wine with a voluptuous finish.

Aaldering Estate Lady M 2022

Juicy plumb and dark fruit aromas are backed by red berries, mocha, and dark chocolate. Hints of forest floor and savoury mushroom aromas add depth to the enticing nose. Full bodied in nature, with plush, velvety tannins that are linear and lengthy support the dark fruit flavours that are backed with a lively acidity that adds length on the end of the palate. A beautiful example of the versatility of the cultivar that is unadulterated by any wood contact nor maturation in wooden barrels.

Seven Oaks 6+1 Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2019

A balanced blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, this fullbodied wine has soft tannins with characteristics of juicy black berries paired with pepper and spicy flavours.

Food pairing: Spicy red meat dishes.

Ormonde Methode Cap Classique

Creamy Brut style MCC with inviting ripe stone fruit flavours such as peach and apricot (more prominent). Subtle notes of ginger biscuit and crispy fresh-baked bread lingering on the after palate. For the perlage, a soft cushion of foam forms at the head resulting in a refined, yet mellow smoothness tingling on the palate.

Food pairing: Grilled langoustines with a brush of lemon, a platter of fresh sushi, or citrus salad.

A fresh, fruity red wine that is light in colour with no tannins nor acidity. Hint of prune and caramelised cherries that is soft on the nose and a smooth on the palate.
