FABRIC APPLICATION - RG vs NM
Fabric Type Applications ®
RG – Regular or Railroaded – Pattern runs from selvage to selvage, like railroad ties perpendicular to the long tracks. Typically, no seams are needed on Railroaded fabrics as rolls come in 30-50 yard lengths. Selvage

NM – Non-Match or Up the Roll– Pattern runs up the roll. Fabrics are typically woven at 54” wide. When cut and sewn, you lose 2” for seams, when sewing the edges together. So, a cushion or tight seat surface wider than 52”, will have seams. Pattern Exceptions usually use a NM fabric that has to be applied as an RG. Turn the hanging swatch 90 degrees to see how the fabric will be applied. Restricted stripes (RS) with a pattern are also turned 90 degrees and applied as an RG plain, so the pattern or design will be random and not match up and down the frame.

Weft
Warp yarns run up-the-roll
Selvage - “Self finished” edges created by the weft threads that turn back and forth as the fabric is woven. The Selvage prevents fabrics from un-raveling.
Fabric Type Applications
Center Point
PSCP (Plaid Stripe Center Print) – A fabric that has a center point pattern that is cut in the same spot on each part of the furniture. This pattern runs selvage to selvage (RG or Railroaded direction).
RSCP (Restricted Stipe Center Print) – A fabric that has a center point pattern that is cut in the same spot on each part of the furniture. This pattern runs up-the-roll (NM or Up-the-Roll direction).

NM If you submit a Pattern Exception to apply a NM on a frame only available with an RG, the fabric will be rotated 90 degrees from the hanging swatch, and the pattern will be applied the opposite direction.
RSNB (Restricted Stripe Non-Balanced) – A stripe that runs up-the-roll but does not mirror itself left and right from the center of the design. So, if you start at the small dark green line and go left to right, the colors are not the same. Fabric 11505-27
This type of fabric will match going down the front - back pillow, cushion, and seat.
The outback will be the opposite direction, so it will not line up to the inback or back pillows.
Fabric Type Applications
RSCP - Restricted Stipe Center Print – The pattern runs up-the-roll (NM direction) and has a pattern that we cut the same spot to be on the center of each cushion, in-arm, and out-arm. This is a 5-Star layout, which means a medallion or part of a pattern that repeats on the fabric in a 5-star placement.
