My Rowe Design

Welcome to Fall 2020! This fall, market season means fresh inspiration. Our popular design collaboration program, My Rowe Design, represents an exciting partnership between Rowe & Robin Bruce and an elite group of some of the most influential voices in interior design today. My Rowe Design features a curated group of designers, challenging them to use their unique perspectives to showcase their Rowe favorites in their own individual spaces. Each of them was inspired by the opportunities for customization and diversity of fabric options in the Rowe & Robin Bruce lines, as well as the overall quality of the Rowe experience. We can’t wait to introduce you to our My Rowe Designers, and to give you a preview of their collections before they debut at market. We hope this will inspire your own creativity! Laura Umansky LAURA U DESIGN COLLECTIVE @lauraudesigncollective

Laura Umansky is a Houston-based interior designer best known for her warm and luxuriously livable interiors. Since founding Laura U Interior Design in 2006, she has helped clients all over the globe articulate their unique personalities through the art of exceptional design. Her signature “Classically Current” aesthetic is a modern interpretation of iconic styles, resulting in interiors that are bright, bold, and contrasting. In 2020, her firm evolved once more. Now offering residential building design services, the Laura U Design Collective is a multi-disciplinary studio offering a “holistic” approach to home design.

Laura's Style Laura’s aesthetic is described by the designer as spanning a wide range of influences from travel to art and music, incorporating traditional to contemporary to mid-century style. “That’s my personality,” she elaborates, “I am open-minded, I love beautiful and unique pieces, and I want to mix them together.” Laura began her design with the upholstery, selecting a subtle animal print to pair with the delicate caning on a pair of our Klein Chairs, and a bold, abstracted Moroccan pattern on a pair of Wrenn Swivels. Eyecatching watercolor wall murals set the stage for her My Rowe Design space, creating a gorgeous background against which her Rowe selections really pop.

Why Laura Loves Rowe “My personal style includes many variations,” says Laura, “so to have this versatility at such a high quality is a huge benefit.” Her My Rowe Design space makes great use of our line of occasional furniture, bringing together several styles in unexpected combinations that create the feeling of a very personal and comfortable space, collected over time with a true curator’s eye. A pair of mid century-inspired Remi Bookcases adds height and presence to the space, contrasting subtly with the transitional lines of our Melody End Table. Another standout is the pair of Empire Cocktail Tables that anchor the sitting area. “[Empire’s] scale has just the right amount of drama,” says the designer. “It has presence but doesn’t overwhelm the design.” In keeping with her signature style, Laura’s space represents “a little bit of tension, a dash of drama, and an overall light, bright, bold, and contrasting feel.”

Max Humphrey MAX HUMPHREY @maxwhumphrey New Hampshire-born Max Humphrey moved to Los Angeles after graduating from college in Boston to play in a major label punk rock band. Eventually he pivoted from music and spent ten years designing homes before launching his own Portland-based design firm in 2016. His signature style is a lived-in, layered look that is “about knowing who you are and what you want to say,” and he believes that every room should show signs of life. Max has been named a House Beautiful Next Wave Designer and one of the country’s 100 Most Creative People by Country Living. His projects have been featured in Architectural Digest, Luxe Magazine and The Wall Street Journal.

Max's Style Max’s signature look is one he describes as Modern Cowboy, blending an irreverent sense of style with classic Western elements to create something vibrant and new. His My Rowe Design concept called for plenty of seating to complete his vision of a hospitality space inspired by “a wild, wild Western cabin hotel lobby.” True to this idea and to Max’s eclectic style, the main sitting area includes the dramatically tufted Stevens Sofa in a deep azure blue and a Madeline Sofa in forest green with elegant gold nail trim, linked by a neutral-toned Ellice Lounger in between. Another standout is our Atticus Chair in rich brown leather, which creates the Western cabin

or lodge feel that Max was after, but in a way that feels fresh and modern rather than antique.

Why Max Loves Rowe The wide range of fabric and frames available from Rowe and Robin Bruce gave Max his inspiration, offering endless possibilities for customization to suit his multifaceted style. Max’s typically playful vision of “a ski lodge for people that can’t ski, but like to sit inside and drink hot chocolate [instead]” incorporates plenty of deep colors and luxurious finishes, highlighting rich leather, velvet and marble in a moody, dreamlike palette. One of the standouts of the space is our Stevens Sofa, which Max loves because “It’s like a classic Chesterfield but with loose seat cushions so you can still jump around on it. And everybody loves blue velvet.” “CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EVERYTHING AND MY TRADE PARTNER AT ROWE MAKES LIFE EASY FOR ME.”

Raili Clasen RAILI CA DESIGN @raili_ca_design Raili Clasen turned a dynamic background in the surf industry and fashion industry into a career in interior design when she launched her own full service design firm. RailiCA Design specializes in new construction, full remodels, and “the occasional cool vintage cottage renovation.” Raili’s signature California style is brimming with color and liveliness, drawing on surf culture, statement art pieces, and vintage chic. Her passion for design, as well as her eye for fashion, is evident in every space she creates. RailiCA Design’s projects have been featured in top design publications including Architectural Digest, House Beautiful and Dwell.

Raili's Style A palette of fresh whites and neutrals meets accents of deep blue and vibrant yellow in Raili’s My Rowe Design space, in her playful “interior design with a wink” style. The designer’s goal was to create an upscale urban loft space that blends elements of an East Coast aesthetic with a laidback West Coast feel, highlighting modern simplicity at its best. Finally, the visible wood grain of our Dune Desk give the space a hint of Raili’s retro-modern, California cool vibe.

Why Raili Loves Rowe Raili’s space is an inviting example of her relaxed yet stylish aesthetic, encompassing three separate rooms to showcase her favorite Rowe styles, fabrics and finishes. An eclectic set of 4 Oslyn Dining Chairs in mismatched but coordinating fabrics sets exactly the right tone for this space — fun-loving, serious but not too serious, crisp but comfortable. The same fabrics carry over into the sitting area, where they appear on a pair of Beckett Chairs and as accent pillows on a casual white Bradford Slipcover Sofa, creating a sense of continuity and flow. Overall, Raili loves the softness of the many gorgeous neutral fabrics in our line, choosing to juxtapose “whites and brights with cool & graphic wallpaper and, of course, a few pops of bright colors” to create this contemporary space.
