Bold and beautiful
The 90’s are back for AW19. Make-up artist Rae Mathieson shines a light on how you can create the ROX Star look this season.
atte definition, full, fluffy brows, kohl lined eyes paired with dewy, fresh skin keep the look modern and effortless. Follow my step by step guide to recreate the look.
Step 1: Skin prep
Drunk Elephant products will keep your skin supple and create the perfect texture for a dewy base. I love the B-Hdra Serum and LaLa Retro whipped cream that delivers hydration throughout the day for supple skin.
Step 2: Hollywood Glow
No one does Red Carpet glow better than Charlotte Tilbury. Apply the Hollywood Flawless filter all over for superstar-lit skin and then perfect with the Airbrush flawless foundation – buff with a fluffy, finishing brush for the ultimate glowy complexion.
Step 3: Beautiful Brows
Brush those brows. A must have product for the coveted bushy brow is Soap Brows. Apply with a spooly, brushing up to add density and definition and then fill in any sparseness with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder and an angled brush for the most natural, untouched bushy brow finish.
Step 4: The eyes have it
Create a wash of drama with matte shadows for depth and definition using the Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Sultry’ palette. Add a pop of shimmer on the lid centre for a rock star chic finish – not forgetting to line rim of the eyes with smokey kohl – my favourite is MAC ‘Smoulder’.
Step 5: Nude Nineties
Throw a nod to the sassy supermodels of the 90’s with a nude brown lip. Line the lips with a lip liner 1 shade darker than the lipstick and blend onto the lip for a diffused finish with no harsh lines. Add a slick of nude, brown lipstick – Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution lipstick in ‘Super Nineties’ is the perfect tawny-brown.
Step 6: Finishing touch
Contour and highlight with the must have duo ‘Filmstar Bronze & Glow’ from Charlotte Tilbury. The bronzer will slim, sculpt and give flattering matte definition, while the champagne toned highlighter will catch the light in all the right places – apply to the tops of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and cupids bow. Bring life to the complexion with a pop of blush – keeping the tones nude and neutral, Charlotte Tilbury’s ‘Pillowtalk’ blush is the ultimate, universal shade to add an instant, healthy sheen.
