AIAS MISSION

Advance leadership, design, and service amongst architecture students.

CHAPTER MISSION

Advance the relationship between students of all levels, to the profession as well as to each other. Throughout the semester our chapter officers worked tirelessly to promote excellence in architecture education, and training, foster an appreciation of Architecture and design related disciplines, enrich communities in the spirit of collaboration and organize students to combine their efforts to advance the art and policy of architecture. TAMU AIAS would like to thank everyone who has collaborated with our organization at every capacity throughout the fall semester. We appreciate the encouragement, and advocacy for student involvement from professors, and advisors. We are fortunate to have so many incredible individuals working in our college and department that make it possible for us operate, and become a stronger chapter. We could not have done it without you!

THANK YOU 4

Fall Accomplishments At this point in the fall 2016 semester Career Fair successfully set a date of February 9th and 10th 2017 and chose the theme of horizons. We have also set the pre-registration, standard registration and last registration prices and deadlines. We have been getting quotes from multiple caterings as well as setting up the casual dinner. We have also updated the list of firms to call and have a script and emails ready to send. We need to update marketplace before we can advertise registration. Spring Objectives -Establish catering -Keep track of firm registration -student registration -set up portfolio and resume help

26

SOCIAL Committee Members Mirely Cordova (Co-Chair) - senior Catalina Morales (Co-Chair) - senior Tyler Townsend - senior Angela Keele - sophomore Fall Accomplishments This fall we successfully collaborated with other organizations within the College of Architecture (ASLA, SHAE, Urban Planning) to put on Architorture. This greatly helped to distribute financial responsibility to provide food/snacks/drinks among all other organizations, not solely AIAS like it has been in the past. We had an excellent turnout so we believe joining with other organizations and inviting all faculty and staff to be part of Architorture was a great strategy to be implemented in years to come. As a committee, we met about once a month but as the event drew closer we met more frequently. Overall, it was a great semester for the Social Committee of AIAS. Spring objectives - Research venues for Beaux Arts Ball - Possibly add another social event before Beaux Arts Ball - Reach out to add to our committee members

We created the poster and flyers for all of our events, and had great overall involvement throughout the committee. All of designs we uploaded to the AIAS Google Drive for future reference. Spring Objectives -Have everyone in Poster Development attempt various posters and designs -A more thorough and organized Studio Outreach -Timeliness with posters -Career Fair marketing package -Beaux Arts marketing package

FREEDOM BY DESIGN Committee members Stephanie Matteson- senior Luke Fangue- senior Reuben Posada- junior Ingrid Cisneros- junior Danielle Smith- senior

Cole McGilberry- freshman Andrew Lane- freshman Bernie Guerra- freshman Gabriel De La Garza- freshman Stephanie Maddamma- freshman

Fall Accomplishments This Fall our group hit the ground running. Although we had only planned to fundraise this semester, our clients’ asked if we could complete the deck and ramp this fall. Their reason was that their mother was beginning dialysis and having a stomach surgery and did not have a safe way of getting into or out of the house. Our team rallied together and were able to gather funds through a grant with the department of architecture and a profit share at Jason’s Deli within just two weeks. We were able to construct both the deck and the ramp within just one weekend, with the intention to come back next semester to do some landscaping and to create a cover for the deck and ramp. The family was very excited and thankful and the mother can now get in and out of her house safely. Spring Objectives -stain the deck -design and build a cover for the deck/ ramp -landscape -design a more architectural mesh within the newly constructed handrail
