PRESENTED BY BIBI AND BICHU

C I R C U S & P H Y S I C A L T H E AT R E ETHIOPIA / UNITED KINGDOM

An unashamedly joyful mix of astounding stunts and enchanted adventure, this show is the magical journey of two little Ethiopian brothers (Bibi and Bichu) whose dream of joining the circus is made real by the Man in the Moon. Plunged into a world of daredevil wonders, they encounter a host of other circus dreamers: dancing, contorting, gravity-defying figures, all weaving tales of their own. Featuring the inimitable Konjowoch Troupe, the show is a surreal retelling of how the cast dreamed of the circus in a country without one and created a phenomenal new Ethiopian tradition.

The heart is in control. The signals generated by its rhythmic activity determine the quality of our emotional experience from moment to moment. Circus artist Marianna Joslin was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a rare heart condition that went undiagnosed for years. Transformed, twisted, transplanted, cut open and sewn back together. How does such an experience shapes one’s life? This is an exploration of the heart… through circus. Modern acrobatics with a heart beating rhythm.

Monsteria is mischievous, monstrous, delicate, revengeful, ridiculous, and circus! Three performers are exploding at the seams, barely contained, and leaking clues to their identity as they trample through tropes! Who are these women as they unburden themselves of layers of artifice? Revealing feminine bodies in pieces, turning them upside down, stretching them to breaking point, laughing at this ludicrous posturing, how long can their true selves remain concealed? Circus to be amazed by, Circus to wonder at, Circus to be challenged by.

“THESE GUYS AND GIRLS ARE SURE OF THEMSELVES, DOING THINGS WITH THEIR BODIES MOST OF US COULDN’T EVEN DREAM OF.” — THE ADVERTISER
