Sports redevelopment project ….. In 2013, we embarked on a two phase project to increase and broaden the current facilities and services. Less than one year later, the project has reached completion with a recent survey demonstrating significant improvements to customer satisfaction. Phase 1 of the project, aimed at addressing issues in the fitness suite, was achieved last year and increased class capacity by 50%. This was achieved by moving classes from the dance studio to the more spacious sports hall and by removing the dividing wall between the studio and the weights area. The additional space allowed for a 12% increase in “We are really pleased with the outcome of the the provision of equipment. project,” said Sports Operations Manager Mark Hyndman. “The feedback from the survey has been incredibly positive and we hope this will encourage more students and staff to become involved in an active lifestyle at Royal Holloway.”
Of the students surveyed, 95% of those who use the outdoor facilities now rate them as good to excellent.
Undertaken in Autumn 2014, Phase 2 aimed to enhance outdoor playing facilities. High quality natural turf and artificial pitches, as well as 4 new floodlit tennis courts were constructed while existing facilities benefitted from improved drainage and redevelopment of the natural turf.
59% of those surveyed had already used the new 3g pitch with 4 out of 5 saying they would book a pitch or court to play with friends.
