A New Journey

I started on a new journey in September 2020 looking for a project to further my photographic hunger for nature. With COVID restrictions I felt that I had exhausted the local area close to my home, which of course is never the case, as the seasons change so does the landscape. Before long I found a relatively new ten-week course ‘Digital Photography: Creating a professional portfolio’ with the Open University, that would take me formally through some things I had already learnt but also making me step outside the box a little and try other genres and techniques. The culmination of which was to present a panel of 12 images on a particular genre including a statement of intent. I chose nature as it encompassed wildlife and the surrounding landscapes, for me the tranquility and natural beauty is important to respect and observe but also to enjoy. It also serves as an opposite to my sometimes stressful day allowing my mind to wander and just observe. The wait for the result was worth it, as I was awarded a distinction. The six images that follow were part of my submission and the reason I joined the RPS.
