St Machar’s Cathedral is hidden away among the partially cobbled streets of Old Aberdeen, backing onto Seaton Park. Parts of the building date to the 1100s, but worship in one form or another has taken place on this site since 580 AD. With its medieval twin towers, and world-famous heraldic ceiling dating from 1520, the Cathedral is Aberdeen’s oldest public building and one of the treasures of Scotland.
In January 2025 a group of members of the Royal Photographic Society from north east Scotland visited the Cathedral and the surrounding area.
