SERMONCITOS Grateful for Family Histories We are grateful for the histories published by our ancestors. When diptheria broke out on the Navajo reservation, Janeen’s mother’s 13 year old best friend Fern was asked by her father, the bishop, to help Janeen’s Grandma and her new baby. He blessed her that if she would take care of Grandma and the new baby, that she would not fall ill. That little girl took Dr. Roy E Howard care of them until the quarantine was lifted and Thanksgiving never got sick. In 2008 we lost our health, jobs, business, and home in New Mexico. When I returned the computers to the university I worried about my future prospects without those tools. Then October 19th I had a very pleasant dream about a musical composition I had been working on. I felt reassured that I need not worry about my new life or the resources I would need.

Monday I was concerned about packing for the move. I tried to organize but failed. That night I had a very pleasant dream in which my mother helped me pack. When we finished I said a tearful prayer of gratitude for her help. I awoke at 1am with Abraham 1:31 a peaceful feeling that all was well with the move, "But the records of the and that I should move very soon. Tuesday new complications made it difficult to pack and move on schedule. My dreams were confusing. I seemed to be traveling and camping, but there were difficulties; however by the end all was resolved and the way was made clear. I awoke reassured that I should make my travel plans and leave soon. 21 Oct 08

Wednesday was a long, tough day with twists and turns that seemed determined to delay my departure. The dream that night was of traditional people and their rights to ancestral lands and burial grounds. However, the honor guard evolved into a marching band and I became a band member. We tried extra hard because it was our last performance. We marched up the hill and around the corner to the cemetery playing the Marine Hymn over and over. I awoke reassured that I had performed in Gallup for the last time and that my new life was soon to start. 22 Oct 08

In subsequent dreams I danced and sang with my children. I am grateful to find these thoughts in writing.

Spencer W. Kimball We feel an urgency for this great work to be accomplished and wish to encourage the Saints to accept their responsibility of performing temple ordinances, writing their personal and family history, participating in the name extraction program when called to do so, completing their four-generation research, and then continuing their family research to ensure the redemption of their kindred dead" (Spencer W.
