Catanauan. A beautiful idyllic town by the sea in the province of Quezon, where Tuba, a lightlyspirited native drink, Beef Tapa, the crispy and scrumptious meat of a cow and Uraro cookies, the delicious crunchy local biscuits can be bought and enjoyed becomes the home to PENTASI B’s first-ever visit to hold a World Friendship-Poetry Celebration. It is 2 pm and indeed a scorching afternoon of 25 th of May 2015, but that hot feel of air does not even scare away the fervent enthusiasm of attendees to witness that First World Poetry Celebration ever to grace the town. The event takes place at MSEUF Catanauan gym, a newly-built dome designed to accommodate hundreds of people. It is well-equipped with big wall fans and is properly lighted. Although the number of participants for the said event is not exactly a multitude to be called, still, that more than 170 viewers composed of teachers, students, and private individuals definitely tells an awesome attendance. In less than-a-month preparation which includes inviting the prospect audience, it is not expected that this World Poetry celebration can show great result in everything but that afternoon, the organizer and friends alike are much delighted that the event turns out to be a real fest with enthralling fun and zealous involvement of audience. The sense that all are quite interested to watch and learn more about poetry particularly visual ones is notably observed. The programme commences at 3:30 pm with a prayer followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. Then, the university principal, Mrs. Marian O. Cadiz delivers her Welcome Remarks. Afterwards, a sequel of poetry reading, poem interpretation, and recitations is showcased by several selected Envergan students. The beauty of the afternoon has been delightfully achieved with the talks of PENTASI B’s two very charming and talented Poets, Doc Penpen B. Takipsilim, the Father of Visual Poetry and Señor Romeo Della Valle, an International poet based in New York City, USA. It is a very entertaining four-hour Poetry in motion and Poetry discussion where the new trend, Visual Poetry is included. In addition to this colorful event is the unforgettable picture-taking and giving-away of PENTASI B shirts and some literary books. Indeed, the entire event shared not just fun but a precious learning for everyone.
It is hoped that the celebration has come to share new concept and belief. It gives a vivid thought that one should not stop believing in the magic of Poetry. Whatever forms a Poem can be, whatever content it will be‌traditional, didactic, metrical, free verse or visual, it is the ideas or emotions that matter most, for these can be effectual in bringing either knowledge, encouragement or realization. Truth can tell that poetry gives one a chance to be himself or herself, a chance to enhance that freedom of being a human and an actor of his own life. It allows one to pick a choice that shall make the poem’s soul, a strong voice that inspires, heals or awakens. In the near future, many similar events shall come upon the shores and lands of Bondoc Peninsula. But, PENTASI B World Poetry Celebration-Catanauan etched a poetic mark as radiant as a Galaxy star. Placed among others but is beyond compare.
