Urban agriculture is defined as “the growing of plants and the raising of animals within and around cities” to provide fresh food, generate employment, recycle waste, and strengthen cities’ resilience to climate change.

In Norman, Oklahoma, the urban agriculture movement continues to grow, as community members increasingly desire a connection with the land and their food. A center as such serves the community in means of exploring and educating communities about sustainable and impactful initiatives and with the same ideas as well as serving as a site for demonstration, production and consumption an urban farming center would offer a cultural experience for the public to engage in what typically exists beyond the grocery store aisles.
