Hey 3W! It's July, time for the fireworks and barbecue and beaches!! Summer vacation is really reaching its peak. But while I was enjoying the sun and fun times, I got a rude awakening (or notification rather). School was less than a month away!! This year is my senior year and I'm dreading a lot of things that are going to happen this year: college apps, leaving home, school in general. There are a lot of things to dread but with Key Club I think it'll be better and I hope many new members will be able to know that, too. Yours in Service, Rosie Park

Summer is ending... You know... It's time for a new year of school and time to recruit new members! WHY PLAN NOW? There's only a few weeks left until school starts! You got to round up your officers to get working on increasing your membership and planning for the new year, too.
WHAT CAN YOU DO? Social - It's a great way to set up a lively mood to make Key Club feel even more inviting. Ask current Key Clubbers to invite freshmen or their friends not in Key Club. You can also hand out flyers during your FISH camp to promote the social. (It can also be a profit share) FISH camp - I know that a lot of schools have a camp for freshmen before school starts. Often, clubs are allowed to promote themselves to the incoming freshmen that are looking for things to do in high school. Make flyers with sign up forms and a way to contact. Bring candy, too. It'll leave a reminder of Key Club. Whatever you do make sure ALL of your officers go! More people make it more legit and inviting.
WHAT TO REMEMBER Don't just stop promoting after school starts. You got to make sure that your members are constantly active. The way to do that isn't so different from the ways above. Good Luck!

YOF
g r a n t ?
The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund which provides grants to Key Club and Key Club members for scholarships and service opportunities. YOF grants can help you take action. Look around and identify service that needs to be done in your school, community or the world. Then apply for a grant.
More Info YOF grants are only given to Key Clubs and/or individual club members. Grants are not given to divisions or districts. Grant amounts between US$100 to US$2,000 may be requested. Applications are reviewed by the Key Club board at the November meeting. Grant applicants are emailed of outcomes the first week of January. A list of grant recipients is posted online the third week of January.
If you're interested.. Applications must be submitted online by October 15 at 11:59 PM, EST. The club’s 2018-2019 dues must be paid before YOF grant checks can be issued. A YOF Final Grant Report is due at the end of the grant cycle (January 1) Email our district treasurer Katherine Chao (treasurer@tokeyclub.com) or your LTG for more info
TO COMBAT 11
Take a look at Key Club's Major Emphasis Project that are helping to make a difference in communities across the world.
Preferred Charities
Members work together by sponsoring fundraising events and conducting service projects at their local children's hospitals. Contact your local CMN hospital and invite a representative to a club meeting to share ideas and create a partnership.
Since the 1940s, Key Clubs have worked with March of Dimes to make a positive impact in the lives of babies everywhere. Today, Kiwanis members continue that culture of service by supporting the March of Dimes all year long by hosting service projects, raising funds and educating communities about the crisis of preterm birth
UNICEF helps to provide for children’s needs in more than 150 developing countries through community-based services in primary health care, basic education and safe water and sanitation.
