a note from your LTG

Hey 3W! We are completely into the hot, hot, hot Texas heat. I hope y'all have been able to cool down indoors with breeze of the AC or in a icy cold pool or with a cold glass of your choice of drink. Regardless, don't let the heat and other things get in the way of your break and.... KEY CLUB! Wherever you are and whatever you're doing, make sure you're representing Key Club in the best way, following the motto "Caring Our Way of Life". You can open a door for someone, help someone with directions, etc. Just keep that servant leader mind alive! Yours in Service, Rosie Park

KEEPING UP WITH

KEY CLUB Lots of clubs go inactive over the summer. Here are some ideas to keep your Key Club going!

socials

training

SUMMER IS LONG AND MOST OF US ARE JUST RE-WATCHING EVERYTHING ON NETFLIX. HOLD AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL OR WATER BALLOON FIGHT TO FIGHT THE HEAT AND BOREDOM.

IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO YET, MAKE SURE TO TRAIN YOUR NEW OFFICERS. MAKE IT FUN WITH ICEBREAKERS AND SNACKS!

service

meetings

THERE ARE A LOT OF VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AROUND SUMMER, LIKE SUMMER CAMPS AND JULY THE 4TH FESTIVAL AND MORE. YOU CAN ALSO DO SERVICE PROJECTS, LIKE MAKING DOG TOYS.

YOU CAN HOLD GENERAL MEETINGS IN THE SUMMER, TOO! YOU CAN DO IT TOGETHER WITH A SOCIAL. DON'T FORGET THERE ARE ALSO DCMS YOU CAN ATTEND!

YOF

g r a n t ?

The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund which provides grants to Key Club and Key Club members for scholarships and service opportunities. YOF grants can help you take action. Look around and identify service that needs to be done in your school, community or the world. Then apply for a grant.

More Info YOF grants are only given to Key Clubs and/or individual club members. Grants are not given to divisions or districts. Grant amounts between US$100 to US$2,000 may be requested. Applications are reviewed by the Key Club board at the November meeting. Grant applicants are emailed of outcomes the first week of January. A list of grant recipients is posted online the third week of January.

If you're interested.. Applications must be submitted online by October 15 at 11:59 PM, EST. The club’s 2018-2019 dues must be paid before YOF grant checks can be issued. A YOF Final Grant Report is due at the end of the grant cycle (January 1) Email our district treasurer (treasurer@tokeyclub.com) or your LTG for more info

TO COMBAT 9

Take a look at Key Club's Major Emphasis Project that are helping to make a difference in communities across the world.

Preferred Charities

Members work together by sponsoring fundraising events and conducting service projects at their local children's hospitals. Contact your local CMN hospital and invite a representative to a club meeting to share ideas and create a partnership.

Since the 1940s, Key Clubs have worked with March of Dimes to make a positive impact in the lives of babies everywhere. Today, Kiwanis members continue that culture of service by supporting the March of Dimes all year long by hosting service projects, raising funds and educating communities about the crisis of preterm birth

UNICEF helps to provide for children’s needs in more than 150 developing countries through community-based services in primary health care, basic education and safe water and sanitation.
