SYMPHONIC MASTERS Legendary violinist Pinchas Zukerman (pictured) performs Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.5, the ‘Turkish’ – famed for its frenzied final movement of melodic leaps, pounding rhythms and percussive strings – and conducts one of the most instantly recognisable classical works: Beethoven’s Symphony No.5. Those first four imposing notes dominate the Symphony, epitomise all that was brilliant about the Classical era, and are still celebrated across concert halls today.

SEEKING NEW HORIZONS: RHAPSODY ON A THEME OF PAGANINI The legend that the violin virtuoso Niccolò Paganini sold his soul to the devil to become obscenely talented has inspired numerous composers, but the finest variation of the theme is considered to be Rachmaninov’s. Alexander Shelley (pictured) conducts the final instalment of his thought-provoking mini-series, whilst exceptional pianist Vadym Kholodenko performs. Also featuring Manuel de Falla’s evocative Spanish-infused ballet score, The Three-Cornered Hat.
