THE CAMPUS RENTAL The Campus Rental is the design for a 4-story home which is found amongst the old Victorian row houses on University street. Situated right infront of McGill’s busy campus, this multi-story dwelling provides optimal space for a family of four, while the basement’s large square footage provides great additional rental opportunities for students or professors. Equipped with an open-concept floor plan, a two story living room, a large kitchen, mutliple bedrooms, seperate entrances and a generous concrete staircase which unifies the various patios and terraces on the site, this contemporary structure provides comfort, function and elegant living for both the homeowners and renters of the property.

THE

CON|THEATRE Situated amongst the many quays in the old port of Downtown Montreal, the CON|THEATRE project is a three-story design which is built out of numerous recycled shipping containers. In attempt to pay tribute to the early industrial period and iconic shipping era which helped define Montreal’s current global image, this contemporary building takes its modern form from the very industrial components (the containers), which helped industrialize the city of Montreal. By opening up the containers and by rearranging their steel components, the CON|THEATRE design provides incredible views of Montreal’s Old Port, as well as great opportunities to observe the many industrial surroundings around the site, such as Habitat 67, Elevator #5 and the Lachine Canal. Additionally, due to its extensive amount of square footage, the CON|THEATRE project is able to accommodate an indoor theatre for over 200 guests, an exhibition gallery for art displays, a foyer / bar and a secluded third-story terrace to be used for private social events.

The project’s site is located on the corner of Sherbrooke and Peel of Downtown, Montreal. Connected to McGill’s Bronfman Building, the rennovated site will serve as McGill’s new and innovative art center for housing and displaying the university’s vast collection of artwork. The complex will also incorporate private studios, labs and work spaces into its extensive program to accommodate practicing artists and travelling art professionals. Along with providing movable gallery spaces which can be modified for different exhibitions, the building’s program will also include an auditorium for over 200 guests, a large cafe, a bar, several seminar rooms, a library and a roof top terrace to be accessed when wanting to get a beautiful view of the city’s Mount Royal. Equipped with glass facades, steel structural components and concrete finishings, this creative building will ultimately attempt to unify the University’s busy corner while acting as an artistic monument which educates and provokes creative thinking upon the McGill community.
