STATEMENT OF INTENT My theme that I have chosen is Relationships, within this theme I would like to look into the relationship between people in their natural environment, within this theme you are able to show the difference between old and new, this is due to the fact that the old within the picture fame can be the environment that the photograph has been captured in and the new could be the person or people within the picture frame as well. Within this theme I will also like to look at the way in which photographs can be viewed in different ways and also displayed in different ways as well. To help me understand the theme of relationships I will carry out research about the theme, this will included research such as photographer’s analysis, mind maps, photographer interpretations and different techniques, this will allow me to see and understand the relationship within the photograph. Finally by carry out these different types of research allows me to see how I can present my photographs allowing me to show the relationship between two or more objects or beings more easily, and be the main focus. To explore the theme of “Relationships” I will carry out several photo shoots, which will also explore people in their natural environments and old and new, the photo shoots that I intend to carry out will include, interpretations of photographers work, it will also include photographing people in their natural environment in an outdoor setting, I will also photograph a small selection of objects and still life. I will carry out a reshoot that will be based on a photo shoot that I want to explore further, this is where I will be able to change the environment and positioning of the person with the picture frame, I will also be able to adjust and try different camera setting, by creating close up shoots, and changing the aperture so that certain parts of the photograph are more in focus than other parts of the photograph, this will draw attention and focus to the clearer part of the photograph. I will look into different artists/photographers such as Sam Taylor Woods, this is because it will link to old and new, due to the fact that she looks into the life and death of object and still life. I will also do research to help me support and explore the theme of “Relationships” into a photographer called Sarah Illenberger. Finally I will look into Joel Sternfeld this is because he looks into culture and people in their natural environment. I will explore different techniques that are used on the camera and on Photoshop to help me present and explore the theme “Relationships”, the camera settings that I would like to try and use to further my understanding of the theme is aperture and shutter speed, allowing me to blur the image making it harder to see, or vice versa and also by changing the aperture settings will allow me to draw focus to a particular part of the photograph or all of the photograph. By using Photoshop I am able to digitally edit my images, allowing me to add effects, also on Photoshop I will like to explore different cropping compositions, allowing me to draw more focus to different parts of the image. Finally I would look into the darkroom showing me how photographs were made originally. When carry out this project I would like to learn more about the relationship between people in their own natural environment, I would also like to learn more about the way in which you can see the relationship within the picture frame one the photograph has been developed, processed and changed. Finally I would like to develop my editing skills both manually and digitally, allowing me to produce high quality photographs. When I produce my final format I would like to include photographs or a photograph that resembles the Relationship between people in their natural environment. I will also like to show different techniques such as manual and digitally edited photographs.

SARAH ILLENBERGER Sarah Illenberger was born in Munich 1976, then in 1998 she attended Chelsa College of art and Design, in 2000 she attended BA Hons Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins, after this she starting working for Neon Magazine in 2002-2007 and then finally she became a guest professor at UDK/Berlin. Sarah Illenberger is a multi-disciplinary artists that is based in Berlin, working between and creating links between art, graphic design, and photography. All of her work is hand crafted, she focus on the analog craftwork using everyday objects/ items. She creates vivid, witty photographs that open up the viewers perspective on comparing them to similar objects. The reasonm in which I have chosen to look into this artist is because they interprate old and new in a modern way, also C

In this image I feel that the photographer is trying to communicate simpleness. The mood in the chilli lighter is fiece and dark, as you have a contrast with the black background and the red chilli that represent the flames of the lighter. The emotions in this piece is anger, and concentrates on how when you become anger you tend to forget about all of your other emotions and thoughts and concentrate on that on trigger of anger. I feel that the ideas for Sarah Illenberger’s portfolio of fruit as other objects is consumerism and society, this is because of the fact that she has used everyday objects and created other objects that are not used or found everyday. In the Chilli Lighter you are able to see the contrast between the colours, also you are able to see all of the different textures and lines in the composition, by having a dark plain background instantly draws you eye to the red chilli flames. This photograph has been set up to look like the chilli’s are the flames of the lighter, the ligthing has been positioned so that the you get a glare or shining from the surface of the chilli’s. What I like about this piece is that the subject has been centered with a basic plain background allow the viewers eyes not to get taken away from the main focus of the photo. Also what I like about this is that Sarah has kept the objects looking 3D which add depth and structure to the photograph. The colour red in the photograph convey’s the heat of the flames, it also convey danger, and lust. In this piece you have only one object of still life, which is the main focus of the piece. This photograph has been taken by looking down from above onto the bjects that have been set up. What I would like to learn from this photographer is why she has hand crafted and created old, and objects that arent used everyday with objects that are very common and used in everyday life. P

In this image I feel that the photographer is trying to communicate war, the reason I have thought this is because of the fact that see has created a grenade out of a pomegranate, this is where Sarah has used an old object that isn’t used every day with a new object that is very common and used in everyday life. The mood in this photograph is aggression and sadness, this is because of the fact that war is a very sad time as a lot of people die for doing innocent things. The feelings and emotions that are involved within this piece for me would be horror, and passion, this is because when people go to war they have a passion to serve, provide, and protect their country. Society has a large impact on this image. BY having a pomegranate as the body as the grenade, is important this is because of the fact that it shows that there are lots of different segments and parts to the grenade. Also by having using the colour that is of the pomegranate could be the blood and represent the death of all the people that the grenade has killed. By setting up the image of the pomegranate and the trigger from, the grenade has shown that at a quick glance you are able to be challenged as to what you are actually looking at. The lighting hasn’t affected the objects, I believe that this is because of the fact that, grenades aren’t meant to be shining, and stand out from anything, this is why Sarah hasn’t used much light on the pomegranate so that it looks as rusty and old, and used. The focus of this piece is sharp I believe that this is because when a grenade is set of everything happens very quickly and suddenly, this is where Sarah would have used shutter speed to make a sharp and very quick photograph, linking to the explosions (the speed that the shutter speed is) of the grenade. In this photograph everything is close together. IN the picture frame there is only one object of still life that has been captured within it. Compared to other pieces that Sarah has created this piece of the pome-grenade, is where a lot of the colours are linked and aren’t in different parts. A lot of this piece is empty with nothing happening in the image, but there is still life in the centre of the picture frame this would be because that is the only part where Sarah wants the viewers to concentrate on and what the meaning of the piece is. The pomegranate isn’t perfect, which also shows that the grenade is imperfect, and that nothing is symmetrical. What I like about this piece is that Sarah has some a relationship between perfect and imperfect, this is where by using fruit and vegetables is a good idea as no fruit or vegetable is the same as one another, also she has some that nothing is perfect, as the pomegranate that has been used for the grenade has more seeds one side compared to the other, also it the pomegranate has a very rustic and unique look. Finally what doesn’t connect the grenade with the pomegranate is the colour, this is because the fruit is very bright and stands out whereas the grenade is camouflaged and isn’t noticeable.
JOEL STERNFELD Joel Sternfeld was born 30th June 1944. He is a fine art colour photographer, he has been recognised for his large format documentary pictures of the United States and helping establish colour photography. He started taking colour photographs in 1970 after learning the colour theory of Johannes Itten and Josef Albers. American Prospects (1987) Is Sternfeld most known book and it explores the irony of human-altered landscapes in the United States. To make his book Sternfeld photographed ordinary things, including unsuccessful towns and barren-looking landscapes. On This Site: Landscape in Memoriam (1997) Is about violence in America. Sternfeld photographed sites of recent tragedies. Next to each of the photographs is text about the events that had happen at that place/location. His factual outlook truly explains what is known as the classic view of American living. Top Image to the Right In this photograph I feel that Sternfeld is trying to communicate the modern, humorous side to America, by adding American citizens into the human-altered landscape. In this photograph the mood and atmosphere is irony of peacefulness, the reason for this is because he has placed the figure in a quite peaceful landscape, and placed an American man on a shopping trolley in the centre right, I feel as though the man acts as the disruption to the peaceful environment. The feelings and emotions that are shown in this photograph is passion for his country, also the ideas and thought in the piece show that politics, society and class has all been taken into consideration when it comes to way in which this image is viewed. The set-up of this image, has made sure that the man and his trolley are the main focus of the within the picture frame. The lighting in this photograph would have been natural lighting as the man is in an outdoors environment. Within the picture frame you have a peaceful landscape in a rundown part of America, you also have an American male and a shopping trolley with drinks and his belongings in it, with this the depth of field has been set up so that all your focus and attention is on the man and his trolley, this has been done by blurring out the other parts of the image, also meaning that the focus is both sharp and unusual either way, by having the man in sharp and crisp focus, making him become the foreground and the background is all blurred and distort. The way in which the lines/vectors have been made to look as though the view is getting smaller behind and beyond the man in the picture frame, leading you to the back/ end of the image, making it seem as though the image carries on and on. The image has been take at eye level, I feel this is because the photographer wants to make us (the viewers) feel as equally to the man in the picture frame. What I like about his work is that he explores old and new ideas meaning that the old is the landscape as it has been there for years and hasn’t been touched and then the new is where the humans have come and altered and changed the surroundings. Bottom Image to the Right In this photograph I feel that Sternfeld is trying to communicate the different between the new buildings in the background with the old natural rural area. In this photograph the mood and atmosphere is freedom and peace, this is because of the fact that in the foreground of the picture frame the rural area has no clutter, allow your thoughts to run wild and be free and your thought seem to disappear whereas as your eyes are drawn into the background of the picture where the city line is your thoughts come back and start to stress you out as you are worrying about everything. The feelings and emotions that are involved within this photograph are stress, peace, anxiousness and quietness, in this image you are able to see the difference between the rural setting and the city setting, as when you are viewing the image your thoughts seem to go when you are looking at the countryside where you are free to do whatever you want without being judged and come back when you look at the city and you become all noise nothing is to yourself. The ideas and thoughts that are involved within this piece are social, nature, class and politics. This stylised photograph hasn’t been set up, it is like that in real life. The lighting in the piece is natural lighting as he is in an outdoors environment in America. The focus starts at the foreground and due to the train tracks that draw your eyes to the back of the image, making you look at the city line. The colours involved in the image are green from the country rural landscape this covey’s the safety from stress of the city, it also covey’s freedom and harmony, whereas the grey in the background of the city line covey’s being emotionless, moody, dull and dirty. The colour grey to me also coveys being formal, and sophisticated. In this composition there isn’t any dramatic angles, it is made up of vertical shapes, and the subject matter is viewed from eye level. Finally what I like about this piece is that you are able to see a clear difference between the city and country, also what I like about this composition is that how clear the rural landscape is and how foggy and glum the city line is, to me this looks as though your are free and happy when you are in the country whereas when you are in the city your are unhappy and you are only there for a job and the stress of work.

This series of photographs was originally a video clip of lots of different photographs that had been put together of the same bowl of fruit however, each picture was different because of the fact that Sam Taylor Wood photographed this bowl of fruit everyday over a long period of time so that you were able to see the difference from the start of the pictures to the end product, like old and new. What I feel that Taylor Wood is trying to communicate to the viewer is decay, and within this it would be life and death. The feelings and emotions within the series of photos would be joy, this is because of the fact that you are celebrating a new life of the fruit but as the time pass you start to see the death and decay of the bowl of fruit. This series of photographs so colour and texture, throughout the time period. At first this bowl of fruit would have been set up, but once Taylor Wood got into a routine of taking the photographs each day the bowl of fruit would have then become stylised. The lighting within the picture frame would have been natural lighting through a window, this has been shown within the picture frame because of the fact that you are able to see that there is lighter on one side of the fruits compared to the other half of the fruit bowl, creating natural shadows on the other fruits. You are able to see that the photographer wants the viewers to concentrate on the movement and decay, and life length of the bowl of fruit meaning that this is the only part of the image that is focus, making sure that the viewer’s eyes are not distracted from the main focus. The focus is sharp to start with but as the time period paces the photographs gradually begin to look as though they are blurred this is because of the fact that the mould has created a distorted image. The foreground in the image would be the bowl of fruit and the background would be the plain area around the main focus in the picture frame. Within the picture frame the photographer has included the movement of the fruit over a length of time and how that eventually there is no content in the picture because of the fact that the fruit has all decayed away. There aren’t any block colours in the picture, however when the decaying process continues you start to get a contrast between the fruits that have decayed quicker than the other parts of the fruit bowl. The lines that are involved within the photo look as though they go horizontally, but they also seem to go up in a spiral way, the reason for this is because your eye is brought to the fruit and then your eyes start to study more of the fruit bowl, as you start to work your way down towards the bowl itself. These photographs are filled with objects that are still life, the colours closely resemble the colours of the subject as when you think of death and decay you image green and mould, this is what you are able to see when the fruit decay over the time period that the pictures were taken in. the colour green coveys growth and fertility, this is shown by the mould that it growing on the fruits. The colour brown coveys the earth and natural processes this is the bowl and the background and the surroundings within the picture frame. The composition doesn’t have any dramatic angles, the subject has been taken at eye level, and this is so that you are able to see the process of decay. What I like about the work of Taylor Wood is that you are able to the change of the fruit very clearly and also what I like about his work is that it is very simple by the fact that everything is focus around the bowl of fruit. What I would like to learn from this photographer is why he has decided to look into the process of life and death and decay within in still life and objects.

Sam Taylor Wood was born 4th March 1967. She has overcome cancer twice, in December 1997 at age 30 she suffered and was treated for colon cancer, three years later she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She married an art dealer Jay Joplin in 1997. She has two daughters, after 11 years she announced that the couple was separating. In 2009 she began a relationship with Aaron Johnson after meeting on the set of “Nowhere Boy” the couple since has had two daughters. She is an English filmmaker, photographer and visual artist. She began exhibiting fine art photography in the early 1990’s. In 1994, she exhibited a multi-screen video work titled Killing Time, this was where four people mimed to opera. From this point multi-screen video works became her main interest and focus. “I wouldn’t be able to survive everything without the meditation that I do. It’s what I think has made me able to cope with the madness.” Taylor Woods work examines the split between being and appearance, her work often places her human subjects in situations where the lines between interior and external sense of self is in conflict. Sam Taylor Wood makes photographs and films that examine, through highly charged and changing scenarios. The reason why I have chosen to look further into this artists is so that I can look into the relationship between old and new and fresh and decayed objects, the reason I also am interested in looking into her work is she examines the being and apperance of the photographs, and subjects.

Here I have created pages on my interpretation on Joel Sternfeld’s work, on the right I have included in an example of his work. In this work he has explored the ideas of people in their natural environment, and he has looked into what is preserved as being American and shown and communicated this access in several photographs. In this photo shoot I have also looked into and explored the ideas and relationships between people in their natural environment. On this page I have interpreted his work by having photographed a girl in her natural everyday environment, the images that I have taken are in her garden. I have edited the image in camera raw by changing the different levels of exposure, clarity, vibrancy, and blacks and whites, this has allowed me to draw focus to the different textures and colours in the images. In the image to the left I have changed the photograph to black and white, this is so that you are able to see the different textures within the picture frame, also by changing the image to black and white it has allowed me to draw the main focus to the girl on the stones, as she has the most amount of white on her. What I like about this image is that you have a close up image of the girl on the stone allowing you to see the expressions on her face more clearly. Here on this page I have created two different digital edits, I edited one of the images in camera raw by changing the levels or clarity, vibrancy and exposure, also on this page I have used the Harris shutter effect, this is where you change the colours in the settings and then you move the three different layers around so that you have created a distorted image, making it unclear to see what the image is. What I like about this image on the left is that even though you have created an unclear image you are still able to know and understand what the position of the person is on the gate and that see is in here natural environemnt. In these images on this page you are able to see the relationship between the person and her environment, also these images link to old and new, this is because of the fact that a new thiing being the person is in an old, vintage environemnt which has been there for a longer time than the girl in the images. Finally what I like about these images is that you attention and your eyes are drawn to the expression and the posture of the girl in the image as she is in the center of the picture frame in her environment.
On this page I have inserted four photographs of a girl in her natural outdoors everyday environment. What I like about these images on this page is that the photographs all have a link to the girl and her relationship with her environment. By having her sit on the gate shows that she is comfortable in her environment. What I have done with one of the image is added two images one on top of the other, I have then used the blending methods to merged the two together so that you are able to see both images clearly and know what they are. Finally what I like about the images on this page is that I have editted them in camera raw so that they are as natural as possible, this links to Joel Sternfeld because of the fact that he edits his work as little as possible so that you have the same view if you are looking at it in real life or whether you are looking at it in the picture frame. Here is my last set of interpretations for Joel Sternfeld, on this page I have photographer what I think of when I think of England, this for me it tea and the newspaper, the reason I have pictured what represents Britain is because Joel Sternfeld looks into America and the cultures, and what is perceived as being American. What I like about these photographs is that I have used different angles and whether the image is a close up only focusing on the tea of newspaper or whether the image has included more of the home environment. What I like about these images is that I have edited them as little as possible, when it came to editing them I wanted to make it look like Joel Sternfeld’s work as much as possible by having lots of colour included in the images.

f / 20.0 ISO 400 1/200 Here on these two pages I have interpreted Sam Taylor Woods work. When I have interpreted her work I have tried to have a link between old and new. This is because of the fact that she photographs the process of decaying. By having a lot of the image in black and white show that the range and difference much more easily between the old and the new objects/beings and fruit. Bottom Image of Hands In this image you can see that there are two different types of hand within the picture frame, also in the picture frame I have changed the image to low vibrancy and even black and white this is so that you are able to see the contrast between the old and the new, a lot easier than if it was to be in colour this is so that you are able to see the age, and blemishes of the skin, by having two different aged hands also allows you to see what is classed as “Perfect” and what is classed “Imperfect as one hand has no blemishes and is smooth and soft the other is wrinkled and has lots of blemishes on it. Top Left Image of Cucumber
I N T E RP R E T A T I O N
In this image you are able to see that I have changed the image to black and white. What I like about this image is that you are able to see clearly the difference in age between the decaying slice of cucumber and the fresh slice of cucumber, also what I like about this image is that you are able to see that depth has been added to the picture frame, this has been done by standing a slice of cucumber on its side, this draws your eyes straight to the centre of the picture frame, finally what I like about this image is that the by having circular/rounded objects allows your eyes to flow continuously from one slice to another.
f / 20.0 ISO 400 1/200
Here I have created a page where I have showed the age between the fruits, that are involved within the picture frames. Top Right of Strawberries What I like about this image on above is that becuase the image is in black and white you are able to see the age of the strawberries as you are more clearly able to know that the strawberry on the left is a lot older than those to the right of it, this is has been shown by the amount of white that has been shown within the picture frame. BY having the bottom right image in colour allows you to see the transformation from fresh to then going old and used and where it is starting to decay. by showing the image in colour allows you to see that the cucumber has started to grow old. Image to the Left of Bananas What I like about the image at the bottom is that I have blended two images of the banana, this allows you to see how the colour and black and white can change the age and the view of the object. Also what I like about the image of the banana is that they both look as though the y are joined together at the top however they are two seperate bananas. Finally by having two bananas refers back to the fact that when they are brought they come as bunch and you never have or buy a banana on its own meaning that there is a relationship between the two bananas, as they have come from a large bunch of them.
f / 16.0 ISO 2500 1/200
O B J E C T Here I have taken photographs of the relationship between objects that aren’t meant to be in that surroundings. What I like about this set of images is that I have changed the position and surroundings for each image making the relationship between the objects and their surroundings unique and personal as not one of the other images will have the same surroundings, or textures. Also what I like about these images is that by having the objects interlocking with each other allows you to see that the relationship is personal and unique to them as all of the other images that have got interlocking parts are different from the rest.

Here I have created a page of Scanograms, on this page I have included two of my own example of the Scanograms, and I have also included a professional Scanogram.
What is a Scanogram? Is often referred to as scanner photography, it is the process of capturing digitized images of objects. What have I done? To create my scans I arranged my objects, being a tape measure, train ticket, headphones, card, and a key, on the flat bed. What I then did was scan my objects onto the computer, the objects showed as three dimensional. I have then editted the scans in camera raw and in photoshop, by changing the image to black and white, and then creating one part of the image in colour so that is where the main focus is, also i have changed the claritys and contrast between the blacks and the whites within the picture frame. What I like about the scans is that the images look real life, as they are three dimensional and very clear to know what the objects are.
F / 4.5 ISO 2000 1/500 F / 5.0 ISO 1250 1/640
F / 5.0 ISO 1600 1/800
Here I have created a series of three image where the model is in her outdoors environment. The model is either standing up or sitting down. I have taken these images at a different time of the day in the same day. You are able to see this by where the light is shine on the models face and body, in the first image (top left) the light has shone on her face, I have edited the first image very basically, meaning that I haven’t changed the exposure to make the image brighter and clearer to see, showing more easily the natural shadows and where the lighting has fallen on her face/hair, by having the girl sat on the bridge allows you to concentrate on her posture. By have her legs crossed at the ankles could mean that the girl is uncomfortable in her environment and a little uncertain and insecure, however by the girl crouched and sat in between the rails shows that she is connected to that certain place. Finally what I like about this image is that where the light is shining and the particular time of day shows the reflection of the reeds and the grass that is underneath the bridge, and you are able to see the slight movement in the water. By changing the bottom left image into black and white allows you to see where the light and shade within the image is this is because of the fact that there is a clearer difference between the contrasts within the colour. In this image you can see that she is standing and is leaning on a metal gate, in an outdoors, everyday environment. By having the model in the picture frame looking at the camera makes you feel as though she is looking at you, even though she is looking into the distance past the camera lens. By having a blank facial expression makes you confused as to what she is thinking as the emotions and feelings are very unclear and hard to read. Due to the fact that the girl is looking into the camera at the viewer, shows that the model has a relationship with the camera, however I feel as though by looking at the camera it shows that she is wanting to make a connection/relationship between you and her. In the third and final image (above) in this series you are able to see that this image was taken at a later time in comparison to the other images, this has alsobeenshowninthewaythatIhaveeditedtheimage,asIhavetriedtomakeitlookdullanddarkerthantheothers, howeverindoing so I have captured the light at the edge of her hair, this is where the hair has gone blonder. What I like about this image is that by having her arms spread widely alone the fence allows you to see that she is taking in the environment and the peacefulness that it has to offer. Also what I like about this image is that I have captured image so that see is the main focus by making her and the fence rail in focus and the fields in the background are not in focus, this also shows that there is a relationship between the foreground and background.
Relationship with the Natural World
F / 3.5 ISO 250 1/320
Here I have created a repeated pattern of my model sat
on the floor allowing the wind to move her hair naturally, without force, also in this picture frame the model has mud on her knees and she has a slightly dirty piece of clothing, by having the model sat on the floor allows you to see that she is comfortable in her environment. By having the picture also in black and white allows you not to get distracted away from her expression and emotions, compared to the coloured image where you are comparing the difference in colour within the picture frame. Finally what I like about this image is that the girl is very calm and peaceful in her environment. Also by having the girl not interfering with her environment that she has been placed in shows that see approves and appreciate what her environment has to offer
F / 345 ISO 100 1/500
F/3.5 ISO 640 1/320
F/3.5 ISO 100 1/320
F/4.0 ISO 640 1/400
Here I have continued on from my photo shoot of the relationship with the natural world, what I have done here is change the angles and zoom of the camera so that it can either add more of the environment in or less so that it is just focusing on the girl in the picture frame. What I like about these image is that they show movement within the picture frame, this is shown where the girl’s hair is being moved by the wind. Another reason why I like these sets of images is that her posture and positing within the photographs/picture frame shows that she is embracing her surrounds by opening her shoulders, and spreading her arm across the fence, however withherfootbeingonthefenceshows that she is trying to change or disrupt the surrounds/environment that she is in, creating an image that gives a mixed message, with the images where the model is sat on the tree to me shows that she is disrupting the environment, and damaging it as well, however by having the girl have her feet crossed and her body has slightly clasped at the core could mean that the model is feeling guilty for the damage that she is causing this particular area of the environment. With the images along the top of the page you are able to see that they have been taken at different times of the day, this is because it sun has created natural shadows on the body and face of model, I have emphasised this by adjusting the contrast and the level of black in camera to show the shadows more clearly. By having the model in natural surrounding seems odd as it looks as though she shouldn’t be there as everything in my picture frames of theenvironmentaroundherisverydull and boring and doesn’t have a variety of colours involved, therefore I have edited the images again to enhance the lifelessness of the natural world, by changing them to black and white or even just adjusting the vibrancy levels. Also with this selection of image I have changed and varied the zoom creating more environment or less environment in the picture frame this is so I am able to show how significant thegirlisinherenvironment, byhaving moreofthenaturalworldinthepicture frameshowsthatthegirlhaslittleeffect and damage to the surroundings, in comparison to having a small amount of the environment in the picture frame shows that she is bigger and has a larger impact on the environment. These images related to the theme of relationships, and the relationship with the natural world because of the fact that I have captured these images in a woodland area and in a field to show that she is embracing the beauty of her environment.

Here is two image from the theme of relationships that I have captured that I feel interpretstherelationshipwiththenaturalworld.Byhavingthegirlwithinthebranches of the trees could mean that the model is trying to interact with her surroundings, but by having her looking away from the camera, into the distance and showing her facial expression as being shock, this could mean that she is fearful of the environment. I have edited these photographs using camera raw, this is so that I was able to enhance the contrast of colours and the dirtiness of the woods and how clean the girl is in the picture frame, in doing so it has created an oxymoron within the photograph captured. The reason why I have taken these photograph is to show the relationship between people and the natural world, this has involved me making sure that the girl in the picture frame is interacting with the natural world, this is to show that she has a positive relationship with the surroundings that she is in, finally the reason behind taking these images within this photo shoot was so that I was able to create a better understand of the relationship and link with people and the natural environment, as it is said now that we are destroying the natural beauty of the world, so I wanted to try and show that we’re not, we are just trying to show and embrace the changes, and the many different beauties and views that the natural world has to offer.

Section One Choosing a Theme I have decide to look into the theme of relationships because of the fact that I want to look into how you are able to show a relationship between two beings or objects, within a photograph. I have explored the theme by carrying out photo shoots, based upon the theme of relationships, I have also looked into other artist that explore the idea of relationships or links between two, finally I have created a mind map based on the theme so that I am able to see the range in which relationships are shown through a series or an individual piece or photograph. Section Two Photographers Research I have looked into looked into many different photographers/artists that look into and explore the theme of relationships such as Sarah Illenberger, Gillian Wearing, Roger Ballen, Cecil Beaton and Tina Barney, however I have looked mostly into Joel Sternfeld and Sam Taylor Woods, and this is where I have created my own interpretations based around their work and how they explore the theme, by looking into Joel Sternfeld, and Sam Taylor Woods work has allowed me to see that they have showed a link within the picture frame between the objects, foreground and background, but also the person and hobby/lifestyle in Joel Sternfeld’s work. I have used the photographer’s ideas in my own work by showing the relationship between people in their environment (Our Relationship with the Natural World), I have also used photographers work to show a high contrast between the old and new (Sam Taylor Woods). Section Three Techniques and Processes I have completed a few photo shoots, them being my photographers interpretations, relationship with the natural world photo shoot, object photograph and scans, these photo shoots that I have completed link to the theme of relationship due to the fact that they explore the relationship between the spacing within the picture frame also in my photo shoot they link to the theme as the models or objects either have or don’t have a relationship with the environment that they have been placed in creating a positive or negative relationship, this has been shown by the posture of the models and the positioning of the objects. I have varied the shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings when completing my photo shoots, this is so that I was able to create a clearer more crisp image, but also so that the images had either a contrast or being lighter or darker. I have explored various techniques such as repetition, cropping, and rotation to help me develop my theme of relationships, I have used these techniques to develop my theme as these techniques have allowed me to concentrate on certain parts of the image so that it has become the main focus, also the techniques have allowed me to show the natural relationship that has been produced within the picture frame. These techniques could be improved by changing the size and shapes of the outlines of the frames. I will be taking cropping and repetition further throughout the theme this is because of the fact that they allow me to create a main focus as to where I want the viewer to look. Section Four Planning for the Outcome I can take the techniques that I have explored and trialled further and develop them further, I can make use of my photographer research by linking pictures to their work, and I need to develop my Relationship with the Natural World further, by either changing the environment from woods to high streets and other busy places. I would like to have one image that has incorporated some of the other photographs within it as well, by either using cropping or other manual edits to link the photographs together

For this photo shoot I have recreated the first set of images where I have photographed someone in an outdoors environment where I have shown the relationship with the natural world, this is why I have photographed people in their un-natural environment from being outside of their homes, also this is why I have captured people in the natural environment this being the woodlands and the roads. For this reshoot I have taken very similar photographs as I did before, but I have changed what the person/people are wearing this is so that I am able to show that she is interacting themselves with the surroundings that they are in. The reason I have done this is because of the fact that I felt that girl in my photo shoot before stood out, I felt that the colours and the foreground and background where too different, rather than merging together as one, and creating a relationship between the foreground and the background. I prefer the darker clothes that the people are in this is because of the fact that it has allowed me to create a relationship between the foreground and background, by using similar colour clothing has allowed me to create less of a definition between foreground and background it has also allowed me to make the people in the picture frame less prominent, as well.
F / 3.5 ISO 320 1/320
For these image I have created three different camera zooms, this is so that you are able to see the difference the amount of background makes, and how it can either draw your eye to the main focus or how it can distract you from the main focus. I have also edited an image so that it has been converted to black and white this is so that you are able to see the contrast between nature and the human being in the picture frame. Also by editing the image so that it is black and white allows you to be drawn in more to the lighter/white areas. This has worked in my favour due to the fact that this is where I want the viewer to spend the majority of their time, as a lot of the white space is where the human is and in the top right hand corner of the picture frame, this then draws your eye to look and focus at all of the shadows and other less noticeable factors that you are unable to see in a coloured edit. By having a close up image allows you to have the majority of your focus and attention on the expression and features of the human being. However in doing so it could distract you from this as you are wondering what or whether she is staring at anything.
F / 5.0 ISO 1250 1/500
F / 3.5 ISO 640 1/320
Here I have shown a small series of a repeated image below. I have also varied how much of the background is included within the picture frame you are able to see that the image on the left has less background compared to the image above, this allows you to concentrate on the expression and thoughts of the human being. By the human not looking into the camera lens, makes it harder for you to make a connection with the human, as she isn’t trying to connect or make a link between you and her. What I like about the image above is that the human being looks so insignificant and small compared to the natural world that she is surrounded by.
F / 4.0 ISO 160 1/400
F / 4.5 ISO 800 1/500
By creating similar photographs from the first shoot has allowed me to change the surrounds that the human beings are in. I have changed the setting so that the humans are now in the road; however they are still within the woods. These images on this page I have created are on a road that has split the natural world, in a way creating two different sides. By having the model standing up shows that she is far more superior compared to the natural world, by having her hold onto her dress at the bottom shows anger and aggression within her, finally the way that she is standing creates a large presence about her, this has been proven by the way she is standing by having her feet shoulder width apart and by opening her shoulders up so that she has become more broad and much more confident within the natural environment. Also with the image above you are able to see that she is crouched down this could be because the human being knowns what damage she has caused to the environment.
F / 5.6 ISO 500 1/800
F / 6.3 ISO 500 1/100
Here again I have created similar pho didn’t want to use the flash on the cam images it was quite dark, by not usi the shadows on the ground from the With the image in the middle I hav front of a man made building, in doin between the man made and the natur with less background in it has permi foreground, allowing me to have a cle the foreground and background. Also by creating an image itted me to create a more prominent ear definition and difference between astly where I have photographed a f mud I have changed the image to he contrast between black and white.

The final photograph that I am going to present for my reshoot for the relationship between the natural world. I have shown a man holding onto a metal bar. This photograph shows the damage the that the human world has caused to the natural world, this shows a negative relationship due to the damage that has been caused this is shown by the mud road that has been created by the cars that have compounded the ground so that there isn’t anything left.
BLENDING COMPOSTITION On this page I have shown some examples of blending methods, this is where you get two images and place one on top of the other so that you can then use the blending tools to help you see the image that is underneath, you can change the blending setting to one that you like the most, or the one that fits the images best. My favourite image on this page is where I have blended an image of lots of branches that I took and coco sitting down, the reason why I like this image so much is because of the fact that it ties in with my chosen theme also because it looks as though the girl is interacting and has emerged herself within the natural environment. Another one of my favourite images on this page is the blended image where I have blended three images together, this is because I have also resized each image as well this is so that as the blended image gets further into the background the smaller it becomes as well.

Here on this page I have created a few images from this reshoot using Photoshop to create different digital edits that I may consider using in my final outcome. I have varied what I have done with each of the different photograph either from adding a colour overlay, changing the opacity, creating a reflection and spherised. They have been compared or placed next to the original image that has been edited in camera raw, however not in Photoshop this is so that you are able to see the difference in edits.

Here I have created a manual edit where I have taken parts out of the image, if I was to continue on with the image then, as I have inverted the image I would only keep in the darker areas and get rid of the other white spaces/areas.
With this manual edit on the left you are able to see that I have taken different sections of the fence and then I have expanded and altered the image by adding it to the edge of the image, creating more white space.

Stitching permits the prominence of certain parts of the image, and highlight specific areas as well.
Here I have created a development of drawing over, you can see that I start of by either just outlining the face and hands or just the hair and then I outline everything in the picture, this shows that where I have outlined the areas, your eyes are drawn to that specific area, creating a main focus on the image. In doing so I have drawn attention to that particular area, within the picture frame.

By drawing over an image shows/highlights the lines and key parts of the image where I have drawn over the image with a trace of a banana over parts of the face. However where I have drawn over the image you are concentrating on that particular area, meaning that by drawing over an image it permotes the presence and prominence of that particular part, as well as highlighting a particular area.
MANUAL EDITS Here are some manual edits that I have create, I have photographed the manual edits and placed them onto the computer. By doing different manual edits I am able to see what I can put on my final outcome, and what edits I want to develop further. My favourite manual edit that I have created is where I have drawn over an image with the outline of another image, the reason why I like this is because when I want to draw on someone’s face I am then able to focus, and define the face better, by outlining it will a black pen. I have developed this image further by defining certain parts of the persons fact and also by changing how much of the face I define.

Techniques
Cropping
What does cropping do to the image?
Cropping an image allows you to make a certain part of the image the main focus allowing the viewer’s eyes not to get distracted by the rest of the content within the picture frame. By cropping the image also allows you to focus on the detail and textures that are included within the picture frame. By cropping an image also allows you to make an image look different each time as you are cropping the image in a different place and change the position of the image as well. However when you crop an image it looks as though you have zoomed in on the image, meaning that if the aperture isn’t high enough then a small amount of the image with be in focus and the rest of the image will be slightly blurred, meaning that the cropping of the image doesn’t give the same effect as to when the image is all in focus and when the textures are crisp and clear to identify what the image is.
Which is your favourite and why?
One of my favourite cropped image on these page is the one in the bottom left of, the reason why I like this image is because of the fact that you are able to see the detail; and texture of the wood, another reason why I like this cropped image is because of the fact that you are able to follow the grains on the wood, which will lead you to the start of the tape measure. Another one of my favourite images that I have cropped is the image on the middle left this is because of the fact that you are able to see the unravelling of the tape measure, because I have cropped the image so that as the ravels are getting bigger they are not within the cropped picture frame, this allows the viewer to imagine what the tape measure is going to look like as the image continued. Finally what I like about this image is that you are able to slightly see through to the other side of the tape measure, as this is where the light as shone on, also creating a shadow on the wood where the ravels are closer together and a lot thicker than the other places
Techniques
Rotation
What does rotation do to the image? Rotation changes the way that the image is viewed, this is done by either rotating the image around, or flipping the image horizontally or vertically. By rotating images allows a 2d image have the effect of being 3d. When you rotate an image is allows you to see the different views in which the image can be seen, also by rotating the image allows you to create a mirrored or symmetrical image from a certain part of the picture itself. Finally rotating an image allows you to create new images and patterns from a small part of the original image.
Which is your favourite and why?
One my favourite rotated image that I have shown on this page is the on to the left of this text, the reason why this is my favourite image is because of the fact that you are able to see how each of the separate parts of the image connect and continue on from one another. Another reason why this image to the left is one of my favourite out of the others that I have trailed and experimented with is because of that fact that I have photographed a grill, it looks as though the image have created a 3d in and out effect with the line in the image that is going horizontally stops and changes the way that you look at the image. Another rotation piece that I like is the square of four images. The reason why I like this is because of the fact that it looks as though it is a mirrored image and also everything in the piece is symmetrical.
Techniques
Repetition
What does repetition do to the image?
Repeating an image allows you to bring depth into the image, it also allows you to create a 3d view around a certain part of the image. By choosing a newspaper to create a repeated pattern of allows me to add and create a main focus of being on the pages of the paper. By changing the opacity of the repeated parts allows you to see the different parts of the piece.
Which is your favourite and why?
favourite repetition image that I have created it the big image on the right the reason why this is my favourite experiment with the technique of repetition is because of the fact that I have added depth to the image by creating lots of different parts to it, by changing the opacity of the images, allows me to draw focus to that certain part of the image, also by having a circle frame that the image goes in allows the different copies of the paper to continue on from one another, another reason why this is my favourite repeated pattern/piece is because of the fact that the pages of the newspaper is the main focus because of the fact that I have added a harsh opacity in the centre of a softer opacity making the eye draw to the darkened area, finally why I like this piece is because it looks as though it is 3d as there are lots of different layers and separate components to create the effect that I have created, by having lots of layers also represents the pages of the newspaper as there are so many of them.
Techniques
Text Wrapping
What does text wrapping do to the image? My Text wrapping allows you to have writing/text around an image. By having the image in the middle allows the text to relate to the image rather than having to explain in detail which image is what you are talking about. Also what text wrapping does is it allows the image to be the centre of attention, as it will be the only thing in the colour compared to the other parts of the piece meaning the text.
Which is your favourite and why?
My favourite example of text wrapping the image to the right the reason why this is my favourite example of text wrapping is because of the fact that the text looks as though it continues on my fluently rather than having big gaps between each of the words, making the text also easier to read as well.

Here I have collected a small collection of images from pinterest this has allowed me to explore many different ways of presenting my idea for my final piece. What I like about each image? Image 1 What I liked about this possible idea for my final piece is that it is all the same image however different parts of the image have been removed , so that you are just concentrating on the pieces that are left, this was probably the intentions of the person who created this piece, which were that they viewer is to only look at the selected areas that have been left within the image. Another reason why I like this is image is because of the fact that as the image gets further down the canvas/frame the pictures becomes more clear, but also the pieces that make up the image are bigger in size compared to the other at the top of the canvas/frame. Image 2 What I like about this image is that by having an image in its own separate glass bottle allows you to see each of the image s as itself and not as being part of something else. What I don’t like about this presentation style is that it looks hard to see each of the different images, and it then makes it harder for the viewers to see what the image within the glass bottle represents. Image 3 With this style of presenting a final piece it draws your eye to the bottom as it is an individual image, compared to where the others are as the shape has been formed in a pyramid style, this possible idea from pinterest is one of my favourite this is because it combines black and white images with coloured images, and it creates a joiner. However the joiner doesn’t really make sense this is because of the fact that their isn’t a format for the way in which the images are set out, this is because the images are all mixed up, as you have different parts of the face next to a different part of the body, making it hard to see which part is what. Image 4 With this image I like the way the person who has created this has used different Heights , even though each of the different cropped part of the image is spread apart , you are still able to see what the image is . Image 5 Again this idea uses different height as well, what I like about this is that it creates a foreground and background between the different levels and layers of the separate images, another thing that I like about this image is that by creating a foreground and background allows the viewers to see which parts of the image are more prominent and which parts of the image the creator wants the viewers to spend more time looking at.
POSSIBLE IDEA BOOK
Here I have created a book as my first possible idea for my final outcome, what I have done is used a combination of both my photographs from my re-shoots and photo shoot photographs from the photo shoot “relationship with the Natural World. What I like about these image is that I have used both a mixture of black and white and also coloured images that have been edited on camera raw, I have edited them on camera raw so that I can change the clarity and the contrast between the colours involved within the picture frame, also what I have adjusted on camera raw, is the clarity this is so that you are able to see more details of that are involved within the image. If I was to develop this idea further I could add different pictures from the two photo shoots that I carried out, I could then digitally edit the images so that I have blended two together and created a Harris shutter effect this is so that I have changed the appearance of the images so that you are able to see the photographs in a different way. If I was to carry out this idea to create my final outcome then I would add some of the manual edits that I have trialled and practiced with, some manual edited that I think would work well with this idea would be stitching on top of the image, the reason why I feel that this technique would work well on this idea is because of the fact that I am then able to outline and highlight different areas of the images that I want the viewers to spend more time and concentrate on. Another technique that I feel would work well with this idea would be to expand parts of the bottom left image this is so that I will be able to show the movement of the hair from the wind. Finally what I like about this idea is that you see each separate page of the book as one image, meaning that you cannot get distracted by the other images, and other parts of the piece.
POSSIBLE IDEA Joiner
Here is my second possible idea for my final outcome the idea is a joiner. What I like about joiners is that you are able to muddle up and rearrange an image and the image still makes sense and is still easy to understand. To the left is an example of how I would like the joiner to look, this is because of the fact that as you start at the top of the image it starts from the background therefore the images are just of leaves and twigs, as you gradually work your way down the image other parts of the body start to appear . What I like about this possible idea is that by adding different coloured images, from either black and white and colour, allows you to see the darkness and the difference between each of the separate parts of the joiner. If I was to take this possible idea further I would like to add in different images with different, techniques on them this will included images that have blending methods on them and also Harris shutter effect. Another thing that I like about this possible idea is that I am able to draw attention and focus to certain parts of the joiners this can be achieved by having multiple separate cropped parts of the head and hands, as this is where I want to draw the attention to, by repeating parts of the photograph creates a shattered effect as if a mirror has broken. I would like to carry this possible idea forward into my final outcome this is because I can link both my re-shoots and photo shoots together to create a joiner that makes sense and where each parts of the image is joined to the other. Also when taking this further I will need to take into consideration when it comes to finding the correct manual techniques that I can include on the piece so that each separate joiner parallelogram can link together. Finally if I was to change anything about this possible idea I feel as thought it would be nice to have a variety of shapes, from squares, to circles and other shapes, that are able to link each of my images together.
Mock Up
Here you are able to see that I have created a small mock up of my final piece, however this is just the layout of the final piece so that I am able to see where I need to add more images and whether I need to change or resize some of the cropped parts of the image that I am wanting to include on my final piece. With this image above I have photographed a small scale mock up, I sized this so that it was a4, as you can tell it isn’t very detailed and doesn’t have must contrast between each of the different cropped areas. By creating a small scaled image has enabled me to see what I need to add to the layout of the final piece to add more detail and to make sure that it makes sense when it comes to putting my final piece together, for example starting from the head and working my way down to the feet enabling the cropped and disorientated image to make sense. With the image on the right you are able to see that I have created a more developed mock up, this is to show where I have added more images to the layout of the final outcome, this is so that the progression from the head to the feet makes more sense and is more gradual, also on this mock up to the right you are able to see that I have changed and added more variety of digitally edited images, this is so that you are able to see a larger contrast between each of the image. In the right mock up you are able to see that I have added in more images of the face and hands this is because of the fact that I want this to be in the centre where there is the most attention, also on this mock in the right you are able to see that adding in more images and more cropped images where I have included different digital edits such as the Harris shutter effect, black and white and blending methods you are able to see the contrast and distinct uniqueness about each of the different cropped parts to my joiner. However on both of these mock ups I haven’t included any manual edit to this.

Photo shoot ideas - urban and rural - man made and natural - humans relationships - family relationships - partner relationships
Photo shoot evaluation When conducting this photo shoot I didn’t find any issues with the camera, however what I did find was that I found it very hard to show and capture a relationship wi the aim of the photo shoot. Finally what I like about these image is that you are able to see that each of the images have a septate yet similar relationship between each

Photo shoot evaluation
I didn’t find very many technical or logistical difficulties when it came to conducting this photo shoot, however in contrast to this I found that when I was in an outd speed manually, to create a brighter image. I didn’t have to change anything with the way I took the images, however I have altered the image so that they are my in hand, I have created my own interpretations of Sam Taylor Wood’s work by doing similar pictures, which consisted of fruit and vegetables, then I took a few images having a girl drink a cup of tea. What I like about this photo shoot is that you I have captured the process of decay through the picture frame this has been done by having three different aged fruits o If I was to create a re-shoot based on this photo shoot, I would change the camera angles and the different zooms, that I have included within each of the picture frame

Light source the source of light was the sun light even when I was in an indoors environment this is due to the fact that where I was placed I was in a conservatry
doors environment, the images became very dark, this was because the camera wasn’t letting enough light in meaning that I had to change the aperture and the shutter nterpretation of the artist Joel Sternfeld and Sam Taylor Wood, this is due to the fact that I am interested by their work after doing some inital research on them before s to show the comparison between the different ages of skin. I have interpreted Joel Sternfeld’s work by showing what I think represent Britain this has been done by
or vegetables, this has allowed me to recreated a series of Sam Taylor Wood’s work on decaying fruit, however my photographed has captured it in one picture. es, this is so that I am able to where your eyes are drawn when there is more or less background in an image and why.

Photo shoot evaluation For this photo shoot I found a few problems when it came to adjusting and changing the settings so that I cold have different parts of the image in focus, creating a for are unclear as to what the image is showing. For this photo shoot I haven’t had to manipulate anything this is because of the fact that by having it in an outdoors enviro I am most pleased with the way that the images have turned out especially the image where she is on the trees this is because of the fact that you are able to tell that she fence as well, the reason I feel that this captures this theme is because of the fact that be creating a zoom where a lot of the background is shows that our relationship w pleting a re-shoot for this for shoot I want to conduct a very similar photo shoot however I want to include a variety of different angles.

Photo shoot evaluation when carrying out this photo shoot I found that due to the fact that I was outside I had a very few problems this is because of the fact that I didn’t have to adjust my camer allowing me to create a crisper and more brighter image. However all of the other images that I have also captured show the theme well within the pictu

E V A L U A T I O N I have explored the chosen question by creating a mind map which included images that I have taken and then I have also placed images on the mind map of some of the artists work that are involved, within the theme as they explore and present the theme Relationships within the picture frame. I have also explored the chosen question by conducting artist research this consisted of looking into three different artists/photographers that look into the theme of relationships. This artist that I looked into were Joel Sternfeld, Sarah Illenberger, and Sam Taylor Woods. I also created a pinterest account as a primary source of research to help and allow me to look into the theme of Relationships, on this pinterest account I was able to look at the different artists work that I wanted to look into. My ideas for this unit emerged by looking at different artists and their work, this has allowed me to narrow down what of relationships I wanted to look into. This was made conclusive by looking into Joel Sternfeld’s work, and how he photographs people in their natural environment and by looking into Sam Taylor woods, and how she looks at decay and things in their natural state, this has helped me come to the conclusion that I have p[photographed and explored the idea of “Our Relationship With The Natural World”. from the initial and primary research that I have conducted I developed the idea of looking at people in the natural world, this has come together through the unit as I have placed people in a woodland or road environment, creating a natural environment that they have been positioned in within the picture frame. I have sustained this idea of people in the natural world, by conducting photo shoots and re-shoots, so that I am able to expand and widen the idea and my thoughts of “Our Relationship With The Natural World”. by developing my understanding of this idea has allowed me to produce a final piece that represents the photo shoots that I have conducted, through the course of the unit. The artist research that I carried out was an artist analysis this was were I looked into the three artists of my chose that was within the theme, I also conducted an interpretation of two of the artists that I wanted to look into further, so that I was able to have a better understanding of the reasons behind their photographs. The artists that I have looked into relate to the chosen question as Joel Sternfeld looks into people in their natural environment, I have interpreted and developed this idea by showing our relationships with the natural world, by looking into Sam Taylor woods, her work links to the chosen question because of the fact that I originally wanted to explore and develop the idea of old and new, I changed my thoughts when I conducted an artist research and interpretation on Joel Sternfeld, however the chosen question that I have followed still links into Sam Taylor Woods work, this is because of the fact that the natural world is old, and left in natural state, whereas the humans that are in the picture frame are new in that environment. The artists that I looked into I created pages of information where it included information about their life history, the work that they have done, and why they have created the photographs that they have created. I have also stated what I liked about their work and also what and how I could interpret their work if I was going to interpret the if photographs that they have produced. I found that the most useful piece of information that I found out about the artists was conducting research about Joel Sternfeld this was because of the fact that his work has influenced my work the most throughout the unit. The artist that I research were important to the chosen theme and the development of the theme was because they helped me influenced the layout and colour scheme in which I wanted to include within the picture frame. The artists that was most influence was Joel Sternfeld this is because of the fact that my work was based around his photographs that he produced of the American Culture. Throughout this unit I have experimented with a range of manual and digital edits that I have included within my final piece, this included edits such as: using camera raw, using camera settings, using Photoshop, manually changing the photograph by either drawing over the image, cutting into the image, or even stitching over the image. I have experimented many different edits so that I was able to develop and expand my use and skills within Photoshop and also so that I was able to know which camera settings and edits best suited the images that I have taken. Because I wanted to make my work original, I haven’t research into any artists that look into these different techniques that I have developed and used to make up my final outcome. By looking into different ways of presenting my photographs I have been able to develop different way of showing a procession in which allows me to show different ways of developing my ideas. It also allows me to show how different edits highlight and effect the photographs that I have chosen to develop with my edits that I have chosen to do. My ideas are relevant to my intentions because of the fact that I have shown the relationship with the natural world through the photo shoots that I have done , this is because of the fact that I wanted to show people and how they interact with the natural environment that they placed/positioned in. I feel as though I have shown this throughout the photographs that I have produced. I have reflected on the development of my progress by saying how I can develop it further and what I like and what I don’t like about each of the photo shoots that I have done. Also how I have reflected on the progress of the work by showing the stages of how I have developed each of piece of my work. I selected my chosen idea by conducting lots of research on artist that I was interested in and I also carried out looks of different interpretations and photo shoots to represent the theme that I have chosen I also chose this theme/idea because of the fact that I wanted to understand how you can show and present the idea within the picture frame. My idea evolved throughout this unit by me creating photo shoots and different ways of representing the photographs so that the viewers are able to know and understand which parts what the photograph represents. For my final outcome I was hoping on creating a photograph that is divided into lots of different parts to create a joiner that represents that theme of relationships. My intentions have work as I have created a final outcome that represents the unit of Relationships, what I have created is a joiner that consists of lots of different parts of photograph, from both of my photoshoot and re-shoot, by creating my joiner, I have recreated my original image. I have also added lots of different images where I have concentrated on the persons face by having lots of different parts of it together, such as her hands and her feet. My ideas have evolved over time because of the fact that I have developed and improved the manual and digital edits that I have included to create the final outcome. The most important influence on my work has been the development of my manual edits and another piece of work that I have done which has had influence over my work is my artist research of Joel Sternfeld and my photographers analysis. This work reflects my interests as an artist because of the fact that it represents me as I am always in an outdoors environment, in the natural world, by changing the zooms and angles of the camera through my photo shoots that I have completed has shown me that I see the natural world as a beautiful place, this is because of the fact that I have used smaller zooms so that their is more of the natural environment in the picture frame. What I have shown in my images by changing the zooms is that by having the humans in the middle of the image, you are able to show my feelings towards humans and how they have a bigger significance in the world, as they have a larger presence in the picture compared to the background of the natural world.
Here to the left I have drawn over the outline of the persons head, and hair, in a black and a red pen so that you are able to highlight the details of her face and hair. Here to the right I have scratched over different parts of this part of the image, so that you are able to add different detail; to the other areas of the image.
Here I have placed an image on foam board so that it is raised up, I have then placed a smaller image of the same image on more foam board so that it adds depth and different height to the images, and final piece
Here I have added string to extend the lengths of the girls hair.
Here I have cut out parts of the image and then placed a newspaper, where it has a camouflaged image.
Here I have placed an sewn string on top of the image, where the string starts it joins two other images together Here I have covered up parts of the photograph so that you justconcentrate on the arms and body of the person in the picture frame. Here to the right I have Cut up the image and placed it ontop of a newpaper, with only words showing
