BEST PRACTICE FOR USING DIGITAL IMAGES You should edit and optimize your digital images to load quickly with a reasonable size before using the web. Images could be less then 800 pixels wide or 700 pixels tall. Resolution should be 72.
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY BASICS •
The standard resolution for digital images is 72 pixels per square inch. Digital cameras capture images using pixels, pixels are small squares of color on your computer screen. Digital cameras take bigger and bigger images as they evolve. Phones can downsample images images before sending them to email , text message or posting online. You can manually downsample images when you download from your camera onto your computer. Downsampling means reducing the number of pixels to reduce the size of the actually size of the image and the file size of the image . Ratio and megapixels their two types of ratios that will be used 4:3 ratio and16:9 ratio. The quality and file size of an image is measured in megapixels.

USING A DIGITAL CAMERA •
The image quality setting on your camera determines the file size of the image taken by the camera. Find the image quality setting on your camera its located under menu. You will see the options for ratio and megapixels. A 4:3 ratio means that the ratio of width to height of the image is four to three this is shaped like a regular monitor. A 16:9 ratio means that the ratio of width and height is 16 to 9 this is shaped like a wide-screened monitor.
BEST PRACTICE FOR NAMING DIGITAL IMAGES •
All file names should be in lower case . Three things that should be included into a file name 1 what is it (The name of the assignment or topic)
•
2 when was it taken (semester or year)
•
3 who took it (your last name or initials)
•
Parts of the file name should be separated by dashes to prevent white space. Dashes are preferable because underscores don’t show up in link.
