ONE FAITH FELLOWSHIP’S NUGGETS FOR THE SOUL FRIEND OR FOE, WHICH ARE YOU? A friend is a person who is on good terms with another. Unlike a foe, who is a person opposed in feeling or principle to something or someone! Each of us will be classified by others and others will be classified by us as being either a Friend or Foe. This is also true with our relationship with God. Our choices and actions categorize us as either a Friend or Foe of Almighty God and it should greatly concern us as to how we are categorized! Our obedience to God’s Will, Word and purpose will categorize us as being Friends of Daddy-God. However, choosing to live and do as we desire,
how we want to do it and when we will do it, makes us Foes of God. Jesus said in John 15:15- I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. Jesus has made known God‘s desire for us to be holy as He is holy! Also, that in order for us to have peace with God and the peace of God we must receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and then for the rest of our lives continue to be in submission to His leadership. In receiving knowledge from Jesus, we

Torrey N. Collin, Pastor of the St. Rest Baptist Church Family, will bring the message each night. Come prepared to receive your blessing that God has prepared for you. This soul-stirring worship service will take place at Avenue Christian Love Baptist Church, Rev. Harold H. Lee, Pastor; located at 7516 S. Central Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90001. Should you need further information, please call us at (323) 587-1586.
Matthew 5:16-Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven. “True Christians act to glorify God and care little what people may think of them, except as by their conduct, others may be brought to honor God. They live so that people may see from their conduct (what is instructed in the Gospel.)” (Barnes) We understand that God demands certain behavior from us. We understand the definition of being His friend is a person who is on good terms with Him. Ephesians 5 describes God’s foe,
the person who is opposed in feeling and action to what God desires. V. 3- Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. V.4- Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes— these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. V5- You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. tion was at a all time high” says Dr. W. Jerome Fisher. Therefore it is with much prayer that the Greater Zion Church Family is attempting to honor this awesome request to preserve the legacy of our spiritual pioneers and forefathers. “It’s all about legacy” Pastor Michael Fisher states as looking with expectation toward the site of Alondra Blvd. “There wouldn’t be any churches in Compton if it weren’t for my father, Dr. E. Boyd Esthers and Dr. Joe Holmes. Our generation owes it to these great men to keep what they built in the hands of our people. Our culture has a right to preserve our in-
heritance for generations to come.” -Pastor Michael Fisher. Greater Zion Church Family is hopeful that the negotiations concerning the property of Double Rock will produce an expected end. “Dr. Holmes may be gone in the physical but his legacy should be protected for the people to see for years to come and I believe that we can do it” are the sentiments that Pastor Michael Fisher is leaning on given by his father. Greater Zion is presently located at 2408 N. Wilmington Ave. Compton, CA. 90222. For more information text GZFamily to 554-69 or log onto www. greaterzionchurchfamily.com.

IN FOCUS Valerie had been a believer most of her adult life. For the first few years of her Christian walk, she made a point to pray every day and to live and speak in a manner that reflected Christ. However, after taking on more responsibility at work, Valerie began to waver in her faith. Instead of maintaining her prayer life, she would often procrastinate and sometimes forget to pray altogether. Her attitude and actions began to change as well. Valerie would get angry quickly when things did not go her way. She became short with people if they disagreed with her. She was often bitter because she began to focus on what she considered broken dreams. The worst of all was that Valerie began to feel that God had abandoned her. One morning, she felt so depressed that she called her former Sunday school teacher to talk. After relaying to him how she had been feeling, he asked her how often she prayed. In that moment, Valerie realized that it was almost never. Her teacher reiterated that she must pray and be mindful of how she spoke and lived to continue to grow in the Lord. Practicing spiritual discipline is vital to our walk with Christ. Apostle Paul emphasizes that it is a lesson we should never forget. THE PEOPLE, PLACES AND TIMES Colossae. Colossae (also spelled “Colosse”) was a prosperous city located in the southwestern section in the Lycus River Valley in Phrygia. It was known for producing wool that had been dyed the color of colossinus, a shade of purple from the cyclamen flower. Intermarriage between Jews and Gentiles was not uncommon. Although the Jewish community was large and the Christians were thriving like their brothers and sisters in nearby Laodicea, many of the Greeks still practiced their ancient, pagan religions. BACKGROUND Prior to writing to the Colossians, it is believed Paul had not ever visited Colossae based on Colossians 2:1 (“I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally,” NIV). Paul wrote his epistle to the Colossians while he was still imprisoned in Rome (A.D. 61). Christian leaders in Colossae included Archippus, Philemon, and Epaphras, who founded the Colossian church. They sought Paul’s help in dealing with the heresy in the city. The Gnostics did not believe in the Incarnation, the act of Christ taking on human flesh, thus they denied His humanity. In addition, they also preached against the supremacy of Christ and His role in creation (Padfield, “The Church at Colosse in Asia Minor”). They were proponents of human logic and philosophy (Colossians 2:8). Paul sought to counter this by explaining redemption, clarifying Christ’s identity, launching a polemic against the Gnostic philosophy, and describing ways to put our beliefs about the death and resurrection of Christ into practice. IN DEPTH 1. Continue in Prayer (Colossians 4:2-4)
February 24, 2013 -Bible Study Guide 13 a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: 4 That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. 5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. 6 Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. NLT Colossians 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. 3 Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains. 4 Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should. 5 Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.
Today’s lesson text begins in the middle of Paul explaining how Christians should practice their faith. In chapter 3, he exhorts believers to make sure their lives reflect Christ and to not focus on earthly things but instead on things of God because they have a new life in Christ (vv. 1-3). He encourages them to put aside the various sins of their old selves (vv. 5-9) and embrace holiness as defined in verses 12 through 14. Perhaps to ensure that no believer be led astray by Gnostic heresy, Paul wrote: “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (3:16-17, NIV). He wanted the Colossians to learn with the Scriptures, not any outside philosophy, and to understand that in whatever they do, Jesus Christ should play an integral part. He then gives instructions for every facet of Christian society: wives, husbands, children, servants, and masters (3:18-4:1). In verse 2 of today’s text, Paul, as a mentor of faith for the Colossians, gives further instruction. Matthew Henry posited that this verse continues the duties of the Christian master but that the instruction here is practical for all believers to follow (Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible, online version). Paul writes that the believers should “continue in prayer” (v. 2), giving the sense that prayer should be pursued with urgency, disciplined vigilance and a thankful heart because prayer is essential to the Christian life. He also encourages the believers to pray for him, the ministers, and leaders in the church with the same diligence so that there would be opportunity for them to preach the gospel message. This especially involves the mystery of Christ, which is that “through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 3:6, NIV). Paul was imprisoned for this very same message. He asked them to pray that he have the ability to proclaim the message clearly. This was a request Paul had made often while he was imprisoned (Ephesians 6:19). We see here that even those who are the mentors in the faith need the prayers of their charges to help strengthen them in their mission. 2. Speak with Grace (vv. 5-6) Another discipline Paul encourages the believers to practice is monitoring how they live and speak. He writes, “Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity” (Colossians 4:5, NLT). Christians should take
advantage of every opportunity to display lives influenced by their faith (Ephesians 5:15-17). In fact, Paul writes that their “speech” (conversation, discourse) should be “with grace, seasoned with salt” (Colossians 4:6). The way Christians speak and the content of their conversations should suit their positions in Christ. Any kind of foolish talk, obscenities, or insults should not be a part of the Christian conversation (Ephesians 5:4). Paul uses salt, a preservative that prevents spoilage, as a metaphor for grace. “Grace is the salt which seasons our discourse, makes it savoury, and keeps it from corrupting” (Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible, online version). Christians must be careful not to allow their words to be corrupted. In light of the hostile environment the Gnostics likely created with their opposition to the Christian faith, the believers needed to be able to address any issue before them. If they were diligent in prayer and monitored their discourses, they would be ready to answer anyone appropriately. SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES 1. How should a Christian pray (Colossians 4:2)? 2. Why should Christians pray for their mentors (v. 3)? 3. Describe the speech of a Christian (v. 6). DISCUSS THE MEANING What are some concrete ways Christians can maintain diligence in their prayer lives? If we have not already done so, how can we begin to monitor the content of our speech? How can we help new Christians learn to be disciplined in their prayer and speech? LESSON IN OUR SOCIETY In an age when most have a lot going on in our lives, sometimes we might find ourselves putting our spiritual disciplines on the back burner. However, if we are not diligent, we could compromise our Christian walk. Instead, we should pray and then look to those who encouraged us in the faith to examine how they manage to live for Christ. Once we become disciplined, we can then help new believers learn. MAKE IT HAPPEN Start a Spiritual Disciplines journal. In one section, you should keep an account of your prayers. In another section, analyze the conversations you have each day, being prayerful about what you should change or maintain so that eventually, you become consistent with your speech. As you become stronger in the disciplines of prayer and conversation, share your process with others so they can begin journaling, too. MORE LIGHT ON TEXT Colossians 4:2-6 2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; 3 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: 4 That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Paul provides a unique emphasis throughout Colossians 4:2-6. There is a strong communication on the importance of faithful
“prayer” (Gk. proseuche, prosyoo-KHAY) and godly speech, which are ultimately pillars to one’s conduct and overall discipline. For the most part, Colossians 4:2-4 can form one particular unit, and Colossians 4:5 and 4:6 can stand separately. Colossians 4:2 focuses on prayer and attitude. There are three things Paul wishes the church of Colossae would understand and apply to their lives. First, a Christian must be devoted to prayer. Prayer is simply direct conversation with God and should be of primary importance in a believer’s life. Through prayer, we share our thoughts and feelings. It is a means of seeking understanding and guidance from the very God we worship. Authentic prayer is never one-sided because it is a vital way in which God communicates directly to us. Questions are answered and guidance is given through the usage of Christian prayer. Secondly, to “watch” (Gk. gregoreuo, gray-gor-YOO-o), meaning to keep alert, must be accompanied with prayer. One should always avoid unfocused, lackadaisical prayer in which the individual or group treats it as a mere religious routine. Prayer must be intentional, focusing on what we are thinking and saying; always alert for an answer. Lastly, we must have intentionally focused prayer with a spirit of “thanksgiving” (Gk. eucharistia, yoo-khar-is-TEE-ah). Our attitude should be one of gratitude, humility, submission, and reverence toward God, not with entitlement, ar-

to the Ephesians complements Paul’s letter to the Colossian church. Ephesians 6:19 states, “and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel” (NASB). Paul’s humility and desire for confidence is shown within this verse. He asks for prayer so that God would grant him the ability “to proclaim this message as clearly as I should” (Colossians 4:4, NLT). Similar to when he wrote Colossians, Paul was imprisoned at the time of writing his letter to the church of Ephesus (Ephesians 6:20). This may explain the similarity between the two letters. In each, Paul speaks from a particular context in which the same emotions, thoughts, and perspectives of faith could have possibly influenced and sustained him. Philippians 1:13-18 also notes that Paul is living in a prison cell; this stemmed from his preaching the gospel message (Philippians 1:13). In a strange twist of encouragement, Paul states that because of his imprisonment, most of the fellow believers in Christ “have far more courage to speak the word of

rogance, or pride. Ephesians 6:18 echoes a similar idea: “With all prayer and petition, pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints” (NASB). In Colossians 4:3, Paul—the apostle— displays a rather concrete faith, not only in God but in the transformative power of the gospel message. He continues with the theme of prayer, asking the church of Colossae to lift him and his group up in prayer so that “God would open unto us a door.” The word “door” comes from the Greek thura (THOOrah), an expression in Scripture, is a metaphor for opportunities to witness (1 Corinthians 16:9; 2 Corinthians 2:12). The gospel message of Christ Jesus is what caused the saints’ physical imprisonment (including Paul’s), yet it is the sole reason for their spiritual freedom. This same gospel message is what Paul wished to preach so that those in physical bondage could experience real spiritual freedom of life. Once again, the letter
1-888-290-7277 God without fear” (Philippians 1:14, NASB). This becomes a powerful statement and principle, especially when one realizes the extent to which fear and dangerous threats have nullified the ability of some Christians to proclaim the very gospel that has changed their lives. Our lives are powerful witnesses to everyone. A faith that isn’t worth the sacrifice if one’s life isn’t worth following. When the apostle Paul risked freedom and his life for the sake of the gospel message, everyone took notice and even gleaned the encouragement to do the same. 5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. The manner in which we express and present ourselves is always important. Through the eyes, ears, and mind, people judge, examine, and interpret in order to acquire an understanding of things. With this in mind, Paul turns from an emphasis on prayer and speech toward overall conduct. For “wisdom” should always influence and mold our conduct. Interestingly enough, the ancient Greek word for “walk” (peripateo, per-eepat-EH-o) can be translated
NEWS@RAISETHEPRAISENEWS.NET as “conduct” as well. The shift to wisdom-influenced conduct may appear out of place on the surface, but it fits neatly within this context. A life devoted to prayer, proper speech, and awareness with a heart of thanksgiving will create godly discipline and wise conduct in our lives. The discernment needed to distinguish between what is appropriate and inappropriate will develop internally. For Paul, wise conduct is instrumental to a Christian’s witnessing power. Conducting ourselves in a godly manner is beneficial not only for ourselves but for others as well. This includes individuals with whom we have a closer relationship and those who we may influence from a distance. “Enthusiasm must be accompanied by common sense and tact. Witness without wisdom often produces ill will and negative results” (Patzia, 97). The Apostle Peter makes a similar declaration in 1 Peter 3:15: “But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence” (NASB).
Inevitably, Christians will face situations and people who demand explanations for their choices in life. 6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. In Colossians 4:6, Paul returns to the importance of proper speech. Grace pervades every aspect of the Christian’s life, even within one’s speech. Paul makes it clear that peace, love, compassion, and other traits should guide each verbal expression we exhibit. Consider what Jesus says in Mark 7:20, “That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man” (NASB). Many people fail to realize that speech is merely an expression of the conditions of the heart and mind. We speak in a manner that symbolizes the state of our feelings, thoughts, and overall world view. Language is merely indicative of our spiritual condition. If your spirit is evil, then your speech will be the same. “The Christian who is in God’s grace will demonstrate that fact by the nature of his or her speech” (Patzia, 97-98).

In loving memory and honor of our beloved phenomenal parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Ruth Ester Payne who departed this life in February 2012. Henry and Ruth were members of Praises of Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorship of Joe B. Hardwick; where Ruth served on the Mother’s Board. They were united in holy matrimony on October 30, 1975. During their union they ventured into the restaurant business and launched the Pink Kitty Cafe located in the English Square of Los Angeles, CA and Hank’s Seafood located in Compton, CA. As a result of their entrepreneurial endeavors the restaurants were successful and well known within Los Angeles County for over 25 years; for their delicious down home southern cooking. Contributing to the community and charitable organizations were close to their heart. They believed in giving back and helping those in need and instilled the importance of faith and putting God first in all aspects of life. The love and special bond they shared was infectious and evident to those who were blessed to have known them. Their lives were abundantly blessed and they lived a long, happy, successful, and fulfilled life. As their children we are forever grateful to them. We thank God for blessing our family with two amazing great examples, and true definitions of what loving, devoted, God fearing parents and grandparents truly are. They faithfully loved, provided, and unselfishly put the needs of their family first. Our parents are the heart and lifeline of our family; words cannot describe how significant they are to us. They tremendously blessed, molded, and inspired our lives in so many ways. Proverbs 31:10, 27-28 KJV describes our Mother; a virtuous woman, a woman of strength, elegance, beauty, honor, patience, knowledge, and loyalty; devoted to God, her family, and blessing others. She was our best friend, a great listener; our counselor and motivator. We could talk to her about anything; she always had positive words of wisdom to share and a smile that could illuminate any room. The exceptional love, respect, union, and connection we shared were remarkable and everlasting. “She is the wind beneath our wings.” Our Dad, lovingly known as Hank was a man after God’s own heart, he was wise, loving, and kind; an exemplar of a man, a leader, a determined man with a marching walk like someone on a mission; he unselfishly provided for our family and helped others. He was our professor of life; we gained a wealth of knowledge from his life experiences. He always had a song to sing that would bring joy and laughter to our hearts and brighten our day. Mom and Dad we miss you so very much! Not a day goes by that we don’t think of you. Although it’s been a year since God called you home; our hearts still ache and there are days we feel so alone. Our Lord and Savior have given us the strength to carry on. We’re leaning on Jesus everlasting arms and we’re standing on God’s word; for “He promised to never leave us nor forsake us.” His mercy endureth forever and His grace is sufficient. He’s Jehovah Jireh – He is our provider. Thank you Mom and Dad for your prayers, enormous love, supContinued On Page 13 port, encouragement, wisdom, and life lessons you taught us; and for layMEMORIAL....... ing a solid strong foundation for our family and generations to come. PRAISES OF ZION CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY - 2013
“KNOW WHERE YOU ARE HEADED, AND YOU WILL STAY ON SOLID GROUND.” (PROVERBS 4:26) Dr. J. Benjamin Hardwick, Senior Pastor of Praises of Zion MBC, and The Youth and Young Adult Department humbly requests your presence February 24, 2013, at 3:30 p.m., as we celebrate Black History-2013. Our theme is “REACHING BACK TO MOVE FORWARD”. (Proverbs 4:26) We are located at 8222 S. San Pedro St., in Los Angeles, Ca. Why not plan to join us? You have plenty of time to make arrangements to do so. There is no charge. All we desire from you, is prayer, some of your time, and all of your imagination. You may call the church office at (323)
750-1033 for further information. We will also honor Sisters Jovana Nettles-Cary and Theressa Glover for outstanding service to the Youth & Young Adult Department. Dr. Hardwick states, “Actually, the accomplishments of African Americans should be openly acknowledged daily, throughout the year…not just in February. However, this custom of putting the spot-light on our contributions to American society was started by Carter G. Woodson in 1976, and was originally known as “Negro History Week.” The celebration continues even until this day in time.” Dr. Hardwick goes on to say, “Our young people have a burning desire to get everyone of all ages interested in learning about our past, so that we better understand the present, which will enable us to look hopefully for a better future for America. None of our participants are paid professional actors, but we praise and thank God that after very careful re-
search, He has gifted the youth to tell all aspects of our history in our own words, and in our own unique way. We are factual, and very careful to mention many lesser known facts, heroes and heroines.” So our invitation still stands. You are all invited to share in this Black History experience with us at Praises of Zion. Give special attention to the title, and also the scripture. Be mindful of where you put your feet……. plant them carefully, and always consult God before you make a move. Although our ancestors were not intellectually prepared book-wise, they had common sense and respect for our Lord. This writer knows the same God that they called upon, stood with them as He ordered their steps through life. I know that same God is certainly willing and able to do the same for us! We just have to ask. To God be the glory! Dr. J. Benjamin Hardwick, Senior Pastor, Sister Cheryl Roach, Youth & Young Adult Director, and Sister Clarice Holmes, Chair-person and Reporter.

While You Are Waiting
“Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.” – Proverbs 10:9
by Andrea Andrews In recent conversation with a young believer, the question of integrity surfaced and the
express concern of the teen was how challenging it is to hold fast to Christian belief in a world deeply rooted in deception and seduction. This MUST be an express concern for all of us who are responsible for developing these young souls. And, one can not be effective in doing so without having knowledge of what young believers are actually facing each day – be it music, movies, television, cell phones,
the internet and social media. Walking in integrity requires more than a weekly sermon, Bible study, or small group session. It is a daily commitment which includes a diet of scripture, prayer and dedication to placing Jesus in the position of LORD over our lives. It is typically at this point of dedication that the Holy Spirit is so overwhelmingly present within us that deception and seduction are “choked” out before they
can even enter into the soul and begin to take root in the spirit. What’s even better is that GOD yearns for us to remain this close to Him and He sent Jesus to serve as the Bridge which offers safe passage in order that we are reconciled to Him once and for all. As Christians, leading an integral life DOES guarantee a secure and confident walk through this present life. Yes, there will be challenges along
the way…temptation, provocation, seduction, lust, greed, selfishness… But, just remember this: When such challenges arise, so long as we keep our side of the street clean (doing the right thing), we are assured perfect peace throughout ALL we set forth to accomplish for the Kingdom of Heaven. FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The Leaders Position
DR. JOYCE HARRELL
Do we really understand that as leaders – we are servants? There is no greater responsibility than as that of a servant. As a servant we look after, prepare for, sacrifice, and adjust our schedules to accommodate our Master. Jesus Himself came to serve, He did not come to carry out His will, but the will of the Father. How can we do any less than He did? Somewhere along the way, we
have lost our direction. Erwin Raphael McManus states in his book, “An Unstoppable Force,” that, “In the world we have embraced the conveniences of the assembly line, the efficient, and the standardized and have grown in disdain for the chaotic, the unpredictable, and the disorganized. We’ve been all too willing to give up having our way just to get it faster, quicker and easier. We want everything tailored to our specific tastes, while at the same time; we want it available without any effort on our part.” In other words, we have become the perfect customer. What is wrong with that picture? Either I am the customer or I am the servant. The customer says, “please me, dance to my tune, satisfy me and if I
can do anything for you, I will first have to see if it fits into my schedule.” While the servant, seeks to please the master, and follow after His way and His will, and at no matter the cost. Which are you, the customer or the servant? Will you sacrifice; will you put your desires and your comfort level on the back burner for the cause of Christ? If you will, then you are truly a servant! Dr. Joyce is a lay-person, under the leadership of Dr. Ticey M. Brown, at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, where she serves as the Strategic Leadership Director. Dr. Joyce’s mission is to develop servant-leaders and enhance ministries within the Church. Dr. Joyce’s contact info is, joyce-harrell@sbcglobal.net or (714)878-4854.
DO I HAVE TO HAVE A TITLE TO SERVE GOD? Let each one remain in the same calling in which he was called. - 1 Corinthians 7:20
LADY DR. PHELENCIA A. WHITE
Have you ever wondered why some people seem to believe that the only way they can do major work for God is by having a title to designate their position in the body of Christ?
Can you imagine how many people would be shut out from any opportunity to be used by God if this were actually the case? God is no respecter of persons. (James 2:1-13) God is glorified by both the woman who prepares meals in her kitchen to feed the hungry and homeless just as He is through the proclaimer of the Gospel from the pulpit who feeds hungry souls. Even the smallest expressions of love through selfless acts of kindness can
be used to glorify God. Jesus asked the woman at the well for water and she became one of the greatest Evangelist that ever lived. But she had no title. She didn’t even have a name. (John 4:1-40). We must all do our part. The absence of any part cripples the whole body. We must each work while it is day for the night cometh when no man, woman, boy or girl can work (John 9:4). In working, we much each work with humbleness of heart, es-
teeming others higher than ourselves (Philippians 2:3) so by our love all will know that we are Jesus’ disciples (John 13:35) and be compelled to enter in to the church, the house of God (Luke 14:23). If God wants you to serve, then serve. If He wants you to lead, do it with a servant’s heart. But, remember in all things that Jesus was a servant leader and we should walk in His footsteps as we walked. From this moment, commit your whole spirit, soul,
body and mind to walking in a place of surrender saying, “Nevertheless not my will but Thy will be done.” to the will of God. Lay aside distressing ambition and embrace the peaceful contentment of walking in the light of God as a servant of the King. (1 Peter 4:10-11). Lady Dr. Phelencia A. White welcomes reader feedback and comments. To contact her Continued On Page 15
