Weekend Celebration Launches New Season of Leadership and Ministry at New Hope
Los Angeles, CA, June 7, 2013, June 21st thru the 23rd, the leadership of New Hope Baptist Church in Los Angeles celebrates the beginning of a new season of ministry and leadership with a full weekend of spirit filled activities culminating with the installation of Rev. Larry D. Hooks II as the new pastor of this historic institution. New Hope called Rev. Hooks, formerly of Oklahoma City, OK, this past March, to serve with the distinction of being only the fifth pastor in 106 years of New Hope. Founded in 1906, this prestigious Black Church has a legacy of service and community involvement which remains strong today and is located on the historic Central Avenue corridor. New Hope remains an active, life giving resource along side of many inactive but significant nationally recognized monuments such as the famed Dunbar Hotel and the illustrious Lincoln Theater, acknowledging the wonderfully significant past God has provided and an ever present reminder of the work still to be done to advance God’s kingdom. A seasoned man of God, Rev. Hooks will lead New Hope with Mrs. Marcena Hooks by his

32nd APPRECIATION SERVICE FOR PASTOR & WIFE AT NEW COMMANDMENT MISSONARY BAPTIST CHURCH
PASTOR GRADY & LADY ELOISE JONES
Sunday, June 23th at 4pm, the members of New Commandment extends an invitation to all our friends and communities to join us for the most remarkable anxiously awaited worship service of the year. The month of June is always set aside for us to honor, bless, thank, encourage, and show our appreciation to two wonderful people who watch over us, pray for us, care for and love us. The Pastor’s Aide committee, under the presidential leadership of Bro Alvin Parks, has selected the scripture “And we beseech you, brethren, to know them
which labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.” 1Thessalonians 5:12-13. Central Baptist Church, under the pastoral guidance of Pastor David Buggs, accepted our invitation to share in our worship services. We ask that you ask that you also accept our invitation and come and share with us. You will not be disappointed. Pastor and First Lady are always there when we need them. We don’t even have to ask them. They’re just there!
Their love is always shown by the things they do and exhibit. There are no two better persons emulating God’s character. Dr Jones always tells us, it’s not about the number in the church but about our “souls”. His main goal is to make sure we all see Jesus. New Commandment is located one mile north of the 91 Freeway and one mile south of the 105 Freeway, at 15548 Paramount Blvd, Paramount CA. Please contact us at 562-531-7703, if additional information is required. Rev Dr Grady Jones, Pastor, Linda Sue TaylorJones, Publicist/RTP Reporter

AIM for Change
By the end of the lesson, we will: KNOW that we should celebrate and express thanks to God for His goodness; DESIRE to praise God for His goodness; and PRAISE God for His goodness.
Keep In Mind:
“They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required” (Ezra 3:4).
Focal verses:
Ezra 3:1 And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem. 2 Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of

IN FOCUS Adam was a faithful church member who led the praise and worship portion of services. He met a woman that he liked and began to spend a lot of time with her. He sought God’s approval of the relationship, though, he felt in his heart that God was not pleased. Adam entered his place after work one evening to find his belongings gone with just a search warrant left behind. Adam had been under surveillance because of the woman he’d been dating. She’d been identified as a coconspirator in intricately planned robberies. The warnings of the Lord came back to Adam’s mind. Ashamed, Adam stopped going to church and shied away from praising and worshiping God. Weeks later, while remembering the praise and worship services, Adam began to sing to the Lord. In tears, he called his pastor and the praise and worship leader, both who readily accepted him back. Adam gladly worshiped the Lord to prepare for the next Sunday’s services. There, Adam experienced an anointing in worship like none he’d ever seen before. Today’s lesson is about how we as believers should ask God to help us maintain joyful worship of God, who is worthy to be praised. THE PEOPLE, PLACES AND TIMES The Feast of Booths (or the Feast of Tabernacles or Sukkot). This celebration is a harvest festival that lasts for one week. Jeshua is a descendant of Jozadak, who had been the high priest at the time Judah went into exile. Zerubbabel was appointed governor of Judah either by Darius or his predecessor, Cambyses, about 525 B.C. The altar described was built on old foundations, underscoring the continuity with the First Temple. The text notes that the reinstitution of sacrifices was not accompanied by the laying of the temple’s foundations. Fear of reaction by neighboring people accounted for this delay. BACKGROUND Throughout the history of the Children of Israel, we see a pattern where one ruler obeyed God and his successor would disobey and lead the nation into a path of unrighteousness. In the historical era prior to our lesson, King Josiah, at 8 years old, sought to cleanse and restore true worship among the people of Israel. He rebuilt the temple and led the people in obeying the Law of Moses to follow all the required feasts and sacrifices and the Passover. After his death, his brother Jehiaham was placed over the Children of Israel, and he did evil in the sight of the Lord. The people disobeyed God, and the chief priests defiled the temple. The Lord sent prophets to warn them, but the people mocked and misused them. God’s wrath against them became unquenched. The king of Chaldees came and slew them unmercifully: young, old, men, and women alike. The king took everything of value in the land and

But the foundation of the temple of the Lord was not yet laid. 7 They gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink, and oil, unto them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia.
removed everything from the temple before he burned it and destroyed the wall of Jerusalem. Those who remained were taken into captivity for 70 years, the time God appointed. IN DEPTH 1. Worship Restored (Ezra 3:1-5) The Children of Israel gathered in Jerusalem after their release from Babylon to find their city and temple in ruins. Jeshua and the other priests worked to restore the altar to observe the customary feasts with the people. Over time, the morale of the Children of Israel suffered after their bondage, and their spirits were in ruins like their precious Jerusalem: broken and, in many ways, desolate. The Feast of Tabernacles, which they celebrated, is similar to our Thanksgiving. It commemorates the 40 years they worshiped in tents while in the wilderness. As with all required feasts and observances, it came with a promise and restoration of God’s covenant with His people. Worshiping God is the best way to reestablish joy after emerging from a difficult time. 2. The Temple Restored (vv. 6-7) The Temple of God represents a special place, and the things inside had a special meaning. The Children of Israel endured many transitions while serving their God. They carried the Ark of the Covenant, they served Him in a tent, and they built a beautiful temple — all so His presence could continually dwell among them. The people were moved as they watched Jeshua and the other priests rebuild the Temple to its original order. The skilled tradesmen gave their time and skill to restore the Temple. King Cyrus of Persia preserved the pieces that belonged in the temple and returned them when the Children of Israel returned to Jerusalem. He also gave a grant to help with its completion. More important than the dedication of the people to rebuild the physical temple was their renewed spirit, the true temple, figuratively speaking. What good is a temple if no one comes to makes sacrifices to God? The Children of Israel in the past had failed to see the significance in observing the required sacrifices and didn’t for quite some time before going into captivity. After deliverance from their captors, the Children of Israel longed for those old traditions; their significance, no doubt, brought new meaning to their hearts. It is important that we, too, recognize the significance of God and the temple where His presence dwells.
SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES 1. What was significant in the observance of the Feast of Tabernacles among the Children of Israel (Ezra 3:4)? 2. Who granted permission to the Children of Israel to rebuild the temple (v. 7)? DISCUSS THE MEANING What observances or sacrifices do we need to reinstitute to restore and rebuild our relationship with God? As you ponder this question, think of your own relationship with the holy God. LESSONS IN OUR SOCIETY Unbroken fellowship with God is so vital to our existence and peace of mind in today’s perilous world. Our praise and worship brings us into God’s presence and protection. Our continual disobedience only stirs the wrath of God and places us in a position to lose our greatest possession: our relationship with God—the source of our praise, worship, and more important, our joy. FOLLOW THE SPIRIT What God wants me to do: REMEMBER YOUR THOUGHTS Special insights I have learned: MORE LIGHT ON TEXT Ezra 3:1-7 Introduction: There is a noticeable distance in time between Ezra chapters 2 and 3. The Children of Israel have returned home to their land, bringing a substantial amount of wealth along with them. This of course is primarily for the sole purpose of rebuilding Yahweh’s Temple. We read in Ezra 2:6870 that the people built homes for themselves before even establishing the foundation of the temple. This later ignites the rage of the prophet Haggai as the Lord commands him to rebuke Israel for their distorted priorities. “‘Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses while this house lies desolate?’” (Haggai 1:4, NASB). 1 And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem. Ezra 3 opens with a remarkable statement. Everyone “gathered themselves together” (‘acaph, aw-SAF), “as one man to Jerusalem.” This is a distinct expression of unity among people of Israel. Undoubtedly, the people’s unity was influenced by the permission that King Cyrus gave to people scattered throughout the land to return home to rebuild the Temple (Ezra 1:1-4). An additional factor was Haggai’s prophetic message rebuking them for their selfish actions, which involved them building homes for themselves first rather than the Lord’s Temple (Haggai 1:15). “Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Consider your ways!’” (Haggai 1:5, NASB). 2 Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of
Moses the man of God. The individuals prominent in this verse, Jeshua and Zerubbabel represented both the priestly and royal roles of Yahweh. The divine and political authorities of Israel were not only present, but led in the construction of Yahweh’s “altar” (Heb. mizbeach, mizBAY-akh). Continuing in the spirit of being united as “one,” they were accompanied by their fellow brothers of spiritual and political kin. Even more impressive is their recognition of and return to obedience toward the Law of Moses (Pentateuch). An assumption can be made that upon reading the Pentateuch, they realized the supreme importance of the Lord’s altar and the significance of the burnt offering. 3 And they set the altar upon his bases; for fear was upon them because of the people of those countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon unto the Lord, even burnt offerings morning and evening. Fear can cause us to do many things; some are good and some stem from bad consequences and situations. Regardless of this fact, the intense emotion in most cases will cause some form of action. In an odd set of influences, fear led to the urgent construction of the Lord’s altar. The serious threats from neighboring ethnicities and cultures around them influenced a troubled and frightened nation of Israel to seek the protection of Yahweh.

It’s very interesting to see the hostility from the surrounding people. This hostility could have resulted from a variety of situations and consequences. The surrounding group could have had a lasting memory of Israel when it existed as an established, unified and strong nation; interactions at the time could have varied from subtle negativity to complete disaster. Also, jealousy could have arisen from within the surrounding people, a direct result stemming from King Cyrus issuing a royal decree to allow them to return home in order to rebuild the Temple. This was an extremely important privilege that no other group enjoyed within its own contexts. As the altar was constructed, the people of God worshiped Him and sought His protection every day and night. 4 They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required; 5 And afterward offered the continual burnt

offering, both of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of the Lord that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a freewill offering unto the Lord. The altar of the Lord being fully established brought about resurgence among the people of Israel. It encouraged them to seek the Lord and worship Him in their culturally traditional ways. “They found written in the law how the Lord had commanded through Moses that the sons of Israel should live in booths during the feast of the seventh month” (Nehemiah 8:14, NASB). The Feast of “Booths” (Heb. cukkah, sook-KAW) was a celebration of remembrance, pertaining to the time Israel had wandered in the wilderness for 40 years (Deuteronomy 2), homeless (having shelter in tents); a consequence of their rebellious disbelief in Yahweh (Deuteronomy 1). A particular observance of the burnt offerings was emphasized also. Within this offering a male ram, bull and lamb without defect were sacrificed on the altar. Having the animal’s blood sprinkled during the ceremony was a means to satisfy Yahweh, and was “a soothing aroma to the
1-888-290-7277 Lord” (Numbers 29:2, NASB). As the fire within the chosen people’s hearts burned to worship Yahweh, the flames and intensity were kept ablaze. We see from Ezra 3:4-5 that their participation in the various celebrations, festivals and offerings was “continual.” From the first day of their cultural month to the last day, the people of Israel realized the extreme intimate bonding and unity that could be established as they worshiped Yahweh as “one.” The Hebrew word used for “freewill offering” is nədabah (ned-aw-BVAW) and signifies that one is incited or impelled to give voluntarily. Olah (o-LAW) is the Hebrew word used that means “burnt offering.” It signifies an ascent, stairway or steps, in conjunction with an offering used with fire. The imagery is of the smell rising upward toward the Lord, becoming a sweet aroma to His nostrils. 6 From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the Lord. But the foundation of the temple of the Lord was not yet laid. 7 They gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink, and oil, unto them of
NEWS@RAISETHEPRAISENEWS.NET Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia. Worship of Yahweh at the altar remained constant and strong among the people of Israel. In particular, we have the burnt offering, which served as the primary sacrificial ceremony in reverence to the Lord. Another interesting addition pertains to the people groups aiding in the reconstruction of Yahweh’s Temple. It must be recognized in at least the slightest sense, that non-Israelite people helped construct the Temple of God, even if they never physically worshiped there. Jeshua and Zerubbabel sought the support of the Sidonians and the Tyrians, without which obtaining the material to build the Temple would have been extremely difficult. This is simply following another pattern initiated by David and Solomon. David and Solomon both utilized the efforts of non-Israelites to construct the first Temple of God. In 1 Chronicles 22:2, we read how David gathered foreigners within the land of Israel to be stonecutters in the assisting of building the house of God.
First Kings 9:20-21 depicts a more oppressive Solomon utilizing non-Israelites as slave workers in the building of the Temple. The descendants of the Jebusites, Amorites, Hittites, Hivites and Perizzites were used as forced labor. Bethel’s celebrates 66 years of dedicated and faithful service. Bethel has been blessed with several ministries: Evangelism Training, Bible Study, Youth and Young Adult Ministries, Men’s Forum, Women’s Forum, Clothing & Food Ministries, Mobile Prayer Unit, Broadcasting, and a Hispanic Ministry. We are striving to reach out and to share the gospel. Come and be with us as we celebrate on Sunday, March 24th in our 8:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Worship Services. In our 3:30 p.m. Worship Service our guest speaker will be Pastor J. Roy Morrison and Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Our church theme for 2013 is Trusting in the Lord and Doing Good. The scripture reference is Psalm 37:3 and Ephesians 2:10 respectively which says “Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.” “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” We are located at 10905 South Compton Avenue, Los Angeles. The pastor, anniversary committee, officers, and members are inviting you to share with us in our Anniversary and Homecoming Services. You will be Blessed! Reginald Pope, Pastor, Lillian Smith, Anniversary Chairperson W. B. Goins, Anniversary Chairperson Emeritus, B. Sweet, Reporter.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS....
“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.”” – Isaiah 30:21
by Andrea Andrews Following the “Age of Accountability” (typically age 12 in most cultures and according to biblical principle), decision making tends to become far more polarized – moving from Continued From Page 4
DON’T OFFEND GOD.........
erbs 18:10- The name of the LORD [is] a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. V.11-The rich think of their wealth (or anything else we honor more than God) as a strong defense; they imagine it to be a high wall of safety…. No matter what we think we have going on or what we have placed unwise confidence in
childlike decisions about what flavor to get at the local ice cream parlor to life decisions regarding academics, social issues and career paths. When given the opportunity to make decisions for ourselves early during the developmental years, it becomes less intimidating to make choices in life and far more likely that we will make sound decisions. As human beings, we make subconscious decisions in a matter of milliseconds each day – most of which are based upon per-
sonal desires and preference. Additionally, we also make any number of conscious decisions which require a bit more thought and attention to detail. What about the monumental life changing decisions? When these face us, how easy is it for us to make solid decisions for our lives? Should we consider making them on our own? If so, are we ready to face the possibility that the decisions we make are perhaps even to our own detriment? God knows (knew) we will all face
situations which will stump us for answers, resolve and solutions. For this reason, He set aside scripture to assist us in solid biblical living: If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. – James 1:5 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. – Jeremiah 33:3Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all
your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. – Proverbs 3:5-6 When faced with tough decisions, let us not forget to commune with The God of Righteousness for direction, instruction and resolve. We will find that seeking Him FIRST and acknowledging Him in ALL our ways is nothing but a guaranteed benefit to our current set of circumstances and situation. Peace, Love & Blessings www.theprocesschristiancounseling.com
other than God; it will eventually be destroyed. When we “Offend God”; He will allow events to happen that will make the most strongest, powerful and bravest person to be helpless and afraid including those persons who feel that they are stronger than what they see other people go through. The message to us is: 1) Don’t live in fear of God but definitely in reverence, (respect, and awe of
Him. 2) Develop and remain in an on-going active relationship with the Lord. 3) Don’t Offend God” by acting like you are in charge of your life. 4) Purpose to be obedient to God’s Word. 5) Understand that it is God’s desire to shower us with His love and to bless us; to lead and guide us, to shelter and protect us. 6) However, remember this same God of Love will become the God of Wrath to those who
do not honor and reverence Him as God. 7) Unlike Satan who is quick to entice and expose us and does not show us what happens to people who disobey God; God in His Word has left on record the results of being obedient and disobedient to Him. Let’s learn from the unwise choices of others and choose to love and obey God and to continuously experience His love and bless-
ings. Join us for our 1st Sat. Fellowship, July 6, 2013, 1:15 p.m. at the U S Bank Community Bldg., Crenshaw and Slauson, Los Angeles, CA. FOOD FOR THOUGHT
DR. JOYCE HARRELL
By the time you get this article, I would have been in Mon-
MISSION MINDED
rovia Liberia (West Africa) for 3 days. I count it a joy and a privilege to do anything for my Lord. I was introduced to this area of mission work through, Serve the Children based out of Gig Harbor, WA, while I was attending Faith Seminary in Tacoma. This organization is doing such an awesome work, providing secular education, spiritual education, heath care, and a meal to the children of Liberia. We take so much for granted here in the United
States, the average income for a teacher in Liberia is approximately $100.00 a month. And the cost to sponsor a child is $25.00, this cost covers, their uniforms, health care, physical education and a meal. If you are interested in sponsoring a teacher or a child, you can go directly to the Serve the children website, (http://servethechildren.com/ These trips to Liberia truly take me out of my comfort zone. However, after all that Christ has done for us,
we ought to be willing to be uncomfortable for the Him. What area of ministry will take you out of your comfort zone? Where are you willing to sacrifice and where are you willing to go up and beyond the norm? I will return on July 4, so in the mean time, I will upload some of my favorite postings from our archives. I pray they are a timely reminder and a help on your journey. Please pray for our missionary team. God bless you. Dr. Joyce is a
lay-person, under the leadership of Dr. Ticey M. Brown, at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, where she serves as the Strategic Leadership Director. Dr. Joyce’s mission is to develop servant-leaders and enhance ministries within the Church. Dr. Joyce’s contact info is: joyce-harrell@sbcglobal.net or (714)878-4854.
ALL TIED UP AND NOWHERE TO GO!…
“So Delilah said to Samson, “Please tell me where your great strength lies, and with what you may be bound to afflict you.” – Judges 16:6
LADY DR. PHELENCIA A. WHITE
Samson, a MAN of STRENGTH with PURPOSE. (Jer. 29:11) Leaders who oppose the work of God (2 Pet. 2:1-3) know that he is a GREAT MAN OF GOD WITH POWER and INFLUENCE (Luke 10:19; John 12:23-32). Samson’s unrestrained RISE TO POWER is very detrimental to the continuance of their ungodly infrastructure and
belief systems. (1 John 2:16; Rom. 10:1-3; Mal. 3:8-10; John 2:13-16) It has been determined that Samson must be destroyed (John 10:10) along with his vision (Habakkuk 2:23), his hope (Rom. 15:1-5) and his future. (2 Peter 1:2-8) If Samson obeys God he will be blessed (John 15:16) and their evil deeds would be exposed. (John 3:19-21) His assignment was clear from his birth. (Judges 13:1-7) But, he does not see himself as God’s man for this present generation. (1 Pet. 2:9) Samson has a wellknown, insatiable weakness for worthless, beautiful women who add nothing to his life for godly purpose. (Prov. 7) Their
JOB is to stroke HIS EGO, satisfy his flesh and numb his spiritual consciousness. (2 Tim. 3:1-7; Ps. 127:1; 1 Cor. 3:7-14) At the end of the day, they were still harlots for hire, PAID promoters of themselves all over town. (John 7:24) Samson was warned not to go in that direction but he refused to listen. (Judges 14:3) Satan already knew that he could use the men who Samson associated with to easily manipulate the women he chose to be his wife. (Judges 14:15) So, now enters Delilah, the Queen Bee of the Streets. She is wellknown, highly publicized and is the perfect one to enter the scene as his angel of light. The
plan? Since Samson is NOT REALLY “one of the boys” he is in foreign territory where Satan is making the rules. (2 Cor. 4:3-4; Eph. 6:10-12) It was Delilah’s job to ENGAGE HIS TRUST, to REAFFIRM HIS STRENGTH and to FIND THE SECRET TO IT which would reduce him to nothing. (Prov. 7:6-27) She was a prostitute on assignment who had a reputation for getting the job done. Her INTENTIONS were clear by the questions she asked of him, “What could I do to break your strength so you’ll be all tied up and afflicted (inflicted with grievous physical and mental suffering)? (vs. 6) She doesn’t even
hide her agenda. So CRAZY IN LOVE Samson thinks he’s playing a game while she was not playing at all. Every secret he shared with her was passed directly to his enemies as they awaited THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY to destroy him. Lie after lie she tells to dig deeper for venom like a snake over and over again. (vs. 7-8; 11-12; 13-14) She uses every from of charm, flattery and deceit to get the job done, “You mocked me and told me lies…” (vs.10) “You don’t love me like you said you do.” (vs. 15) She is cunning, wicked and evil. Samson trusts this DEVIL IN A DRESS so much that he is beguiled by DELILAH (Col. 2:18-19) to the point that he is no longer interested in PLEASING GOD. He foolishly attempts to reinvent himself over and over again so he can
be “AS ANOTHER MAN (vs. 11) and “LIKE ANY OTHER MAN ”. (vs. 17) Samson mocks the God of His anointing. (1 John 2:25-29) God gave Him a way of escape (1 Cor. 10:12-13) but he wanted some SHORT-LIVED EYE CANDY and would not take it. Delilah nags him for his
secrets to the point of his “spiritual death”. He gave her an “all access pass” to his birthright. (vs. 16-17; Prov. 19:13; 27:15) Now as Delilah relaxes awaiting her PAYDAY, Samson has completely given her his HEADSHIP. He is NO LONGER THE MAN… She is wearing the pants and his head is in her lap. (vs. 19) Yes, Samson’s foolish indiscretion separates him from God. He is NO LONGER A LEADER, HE IS A FOLLOWER. (vs. 21) SAMSON! ALL TIED UP WITH NOWHERE TO GO! MAKING A DIFFERENCE
JASON TROY LEWIS
Charles McBride, a 69 year old retiree, was vacationing with his wife Helen off the coast of Hawaii. Strolling along the edge of the sea,
he caught sight of a young man who appeared to be engaged in a ritual dance. He was stooping down, then standing erect, casting his arm out in an arc. As Mr. McBride drew closer, he saw more clearly what the young man was actually doing. He noticed that the beach they were walking along was littered with starfish, and that the young man was throwing them one by one into the sea. Mr. McBride proceeded to walk over to the young and
introduced himself. He engaged in casual conversation with the young man. Told him that he was on vacation with his wife and how great an experience Hawaii had been. He went on to explain that he noticed him throwing starfish into the sea and was compelled to stop. The young man explained to Mr. McBride that the starfish could not survive out of the salt water of the ocean and would ultimately die of dehydration should they
not be returned to sea. Mr. McBride lightly mocked him saying, “There are stranded starfish as far as the eye can see, for miles up the beach. What difference can saving a few of them possibly make?” Smiling, the young man bent down and once more tossed a starfish out over the water, saying serenely, “It makes a difference to this one.” While this story is a modified version of the original by Loren Eisley, it conveys great truth. All of our efforts to make a difference in the lives of others is meaningful. We should never be deterred from striving to leave our fingerprint on the world. Living Trust vs Probate And Wills - Ma’Trees Ministries a Christian Service Mission Working with charitable, Educational Religious Organizations, helping people in need, I Rev. Reese, Information Counselor; due to previous experience can share my ministry. It took time, but we made it with hard work and our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. We spoke in churches informing our people about probate, and about the many problems our families are going through in the probate courts. We shared information on how to protect their property, and assets. I would
draw up the Living Trust and all the documents for them as needed. The vision that I saw Twenty years ago, that vision has reappeared. Once again I am assisting families on how to protect themselves from probate by getting a living trust. Probate has been in existence for many, many years. We should know at the junction, by now holographic wills, and last will and testament are being probated. All is needed to protect ones property and assets is a Living Trust. Probate means higher

taxes, court fees, and legal fees that could run into hundreds
of thousands of dollars. In some cases, this causes homelessness and families to fight among themselves; tearing our families apart, losing everything we have worked for. Those that have wills can discard them because they won’t keep families out of probate court. The legal system says there is no excuse for ignorant of the law. I’m always reminded of Hosea Chapter 4 Verse 6, “my peoples are destroyed for lack of knowledge, because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee. That shalt
be no Priest to me: seeing thou hast; forgotten the law of thy God I will also forget thy children.” What is needed for us is to communicate more about Living Trust than wills. We should communicate through our church community and the entire community. I am a member of the Baptist Minister’s Conference of Los Angeles and Southern California. My membership has been over two decades and I am in good standing with the brotherhood. For more information contact (323) 971-1294 –business, or (310) 749-0948- cell.
