He over-sees, leads, guides, protects, and teaches, trains, counsels, he prays with and for us, and most importantly of all, he “compassionately” feeds God’s flock with spiritual nourishment, which is the Word of God. Pastor Hardwick is a man who loves God, and who loves God’s people. He is a husband to one wife…Mrs. Thelma Hardwick, our beautiful and charming First Lady, who can be seen by his side, praying, and encouraging him every step of the way. Following carefully in the steps
of Jesus, Pastor Hardwick has faithfully gone through the city and by-ways, teaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom to sinners, and laying hands on those who are wrapped in disease and sickness. He is able through the Holy Spirit to meet challenges of this age head on. When he looks into crowds, and congregations he has compassion on them, because he knows they are bound, harassed, and helpless by the enemy. He sees them to be exactly what they are: sheep without a shepherd. With no hesitation, he realizes “The harvest is abun-

ONE FAITH FELLOWSHIP’S NUGGETS FOR THE SOUL GET UP!! It is amazing how we desire situations to change; but we don’t want the familiar things to change or to do what it takes to bring about change. It is disappointing just how we have deprived ourselves at different times throughout our lives by not taking hold of the many opportunities that would have brought about different outcomes. Whether it is physically, emotionally, relational, financially, professionally, etc., how many times have we chosen to sit on the dock of the bay and watch the ships sail in and out that were sent
to take us to marvelous experiences which Daddy-God had for us? How many times has Daddy-God attempted to answer our prayers and to give us the desires of our hearts and we failed to take advantage of them because of fear, doubt, and other apprehensions? We must become more alert and responsive to the many opportunities which we are given that will produce the desired and prayed-for results in our lives! Change begins one decision and one step at a time. It begins with daring to step out in faith and obedience. “GET
DR. TONYA LEWIS
UP” and do “SOMETHING” in the direction to bring change to pass. GET UP and walk for five minutes rather than not at all! GET UP, enroll
and take one class. This is better than not taking any classes at all! GET UP and refuse to buy some unneeded item to save $5 rather than not to begin a savings account at all! GET UP and clean one area that has become cluttered! It is better than to keep on saying what you need to do and not doing it at all! How our lazy minds, bodies and spirits would prefer changes just to occur automatically, but that is not how change will occur! Someone noted that life does not have a remote, so we have to GET UP and make the changes ourselves, which
is so true! Each of us qualifies to experience the desired changes in our lives! Each of us can experience the longsought after joy and peace, if only we put those desires into actions! Each of us can experience enrichment, fulfillment and satisfaction in our lives if we do our part in bringing it to pass! Daddy-God desires that we are happy, blessed and fulfilled! He wants us to enjoy the abundant life and the awesome plan which He has designed for our lives to give us a future and a hope! DadContinued On Page 13 GET UP ........

AIM for Change
By the end of the lesson, we will: EXPLORE the covenant God made with Noah after the flood; DELIGHT in signs of God’s grace; and IDENTIFY promises of God on which we can stake our lives.
SEPTEMBER 22, 2013 -Bible Study Guide 4
Genesis 9:8 And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, 9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you; 10 And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth. 11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither
shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. 12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: 13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. 14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: 15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. 17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.
IN FOCUS Children look forward to promises their parents make to them, especially when the promises are something they consider good. Talhia was anxiously awaiting her father’s arrival after he got home from work. He had given her responsibilities she needed to complete before his arrival home. She had only completed most of the assignments. She worried that her dad would be upset with her for not completing all her assignments. She wondered if they were still going to be able to go to the park as he promised. Reluctantly, she opened the door for her father when she heard him pull in the driveway. She still had a glimmer of hope because he had not said going to the park was contingent on all of the assignments being complete. Dad was very exhausted after work. He asked Talhia if she had completed her assignments. She regretfully admitted that she tried to and was close to finishing, but she had not completed everything. Dad said that although he was tired, he wanted to keep his promise. God is also a promise keeper. In today’s lesson, we learn that He never fails! THE PEOPLE, PLACES AND TIMES Covenant. A covenant is a formal agreement between two parties. The principal section of a covenant is the stipulations, which may include requirements for either party or both. In this covenant, God took stipulations upon Himself rather than imposing them on Noah and his family. Unlike the later covenant with Abraham and those that build on the covenant with Abraham, this covenant did not entail election or new revelation. It was also made with every living creature, not just people. Rainbow Significance. The designation of the rainbow as a sign of the covenant does not suggest that this was the first rainbow ever seen. The function of a sign is connected to the significance attached to it. In like manner, circumcision is designated as a sign of the covenant with Abraham, yet that was an ancient practice not new with Abraham and his family. In the Gilgamesh Epic, the goddess Ishtar identified the lapis lazuli (deep blue semiprecious stones with traces of gold-colored pyrite) of her necklace as the basis of an oath by which she would never forget the days of the Flood. An 11th century Assyrian relief shows two hands reaching out of the clouds, one hand offering blessing, the other holding a bow. Since the word for rainbow is the same word as that used for the weapon, this is an interesting image. BACKGROUND Leaving the Ark, Noah made a sacrifice to God. Noah received God’s grace, walked with God in obedience and righteousness, was preserved from judgment, entered a new age with people’s wickedness temporarily removed, and responded with worship. After Noah made the sacrifice, God promised
never to curse the ground in this way again. The continuity of seasons is evidence of God’s forbearance. God instructed Noah to be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth (vv. 1, 7) just as He told Adam (1:28). And Noah, like Adam, was to have dominion over animals (9:2; cf. 1:26, 28). Also, both were given food to eat (9:3; cf. 1:29, 2:16) with one prohibition (9:4, cf. 2:17).With Noah’s new beginning came a covenant. It was necessary now to have a covenant with obligations for mankind and a promise from God. Because of the Flood’s destruction of life, people might think that God views life as cheap and assume that taking life is a small matter. This covenant shows that life is sacred and that man is not to destroy man, who is made in the image of God. In essence, then, this covenant was established to ensure the stability of nature. It helped guarantee the order of the world. People would also learn that human law was necessary for the stability of life and that wickedness should not go unchecked as it had before. So human government was brought in. IN DEPTH 1. The Author, Recipients, and the Covenant (Genesis 9:8-11) God is a covenant God. Some scholars believe this is the second covenant He makes with mankind—the first being marriage. Although the church doesn’t talk about this covenant as much as the Abrahamic covenant laid out a few chapters later in Genesis (cf. Genesis 12), it’s an unparalleled display of God’s grace. God promised to Noah, his sons, their descendants, and every living thing that there would never again be a flood to destroy all mankind. God had drowned the world once, and though He foresaw the future wickedness of it, He promised that He would never drown it again. If the flowing of the tides should last for several days instead of just a few hours each day, what desolation that would cause! And how destructive would the clouds be if such showers as we have sometimes seen were continued for days or weeks at a time! But God shows what He could do in wrath and yet reveals what He will do in mercy. 2. The Sign of the Covenant and the Rainbow (vv. 12-16) God assures us of His promises: He created the rainbow (v. 13); it shall be seen in the cloud (v. 14) so that seeing shall be the token of the covenant (vv. 12, 15). God did not need a reminder; He gave the rainbow for the sake of His people. As God looks upon the bow, He remembers the covenant and so should we, that we also may be ever

mindful of the covenant with faith and thankfulness. The rainbow is one of those natural wonders that leave us speechless when it appears in the sky, almost out of nowhere. It is literally a reflection of light on water droplets that causes the phenomenon. But it should also cause a phenomenon in our hearts. Our hearts should be warmed when we see this reminder of God’s grace in the sky. It’s a promise sealed in a multi-colored bow across the sky. The rainbow also delivers another message to us: the storm is over. The flooding in our lives have subsided. We are safe now. It pictures the greatest instrument of God’s grace in the Cross of Christ. In it, God took the storms, floods, and rain in our lives and placed it on His Son, so that the Prince of peace could bring us peace. SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES 1. With whom did God make the covenant (Genesis 9:8-10)? 2. What is the purpose of the rainbow in the cloud (vv. 13-15)? DISCUSS THE MEANING God provides for all our needs by even making provisions for our fears. We may hear about and even see things that frighten us, but God reminds us through the rainbow of His love for us and His promise to us. What kind of things in your life make you fearful? LESSONS IN OUR SOCIETY So often we hear about natural disasters and hundreds of people dying and being affected by the events. We can’t help but feel concern for ourselves and others. We pray that our families and loved ones remain safe from the destruction. In the meantime, we must remind each other of the covenant God made to His people and trust that He will never forget. MAKE IT HAPPEN As we continually hear of alarming situations, we must remain prayerful and hopeful, knowing God does provide for His people. God teaches us to “trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). So we must rely on the hope in which He has given us. FOLLOW THE SPIRIT What God wants me to do: REMEMBER YOUR THOUGHTS Special insights I have learned: MORE LIGHT ON TEXT Genesis 9:8-17 8 And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, 9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you; 10 And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth. Divine sovereignty is in view as God took the initiative and spoke to Noah and his sons. “Noah” (Heb. Noach, no-AKH) means rest. After the destruction of the world by the Flood, Noah became the seminal head of God’s new creation because he and his family were the only ones saved from the watery death. Possibly
to ensure that man would not be in abject fear of Him, God spoke to Noah and made a “covenant” (Heb. beriyth, ber-eeth, meaning divine ordinance with signs or pledges) with him. Surviving the great Flood, Noah had been through an ordeal. God wanted to assure him that he could now live out his life in peace and rest. God’s anger with the world had been appeased and man could now be at peace as well. God’s pledge was extended not only to Noah but also to all of his “seed” (Heb. zera, zeh-RAH, meaning successive generations). 11 And I will establish my covenant with you, neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. In establishing His covenant with Noah, God made the covenant both universal and unconditional. Noah was not asked to do anything in order for the covenant to remain in force. By including every living creature in the covenant, we are reminded of God’s instructions to Adam and Eve to reproduce and multiply and cover the earth (Genesis 1:28-30). Here, God promised that water will never again be the cause for the destruction of all mankind or the earth. 12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you,

for perpetual generations: 13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. So that Noah would know His word is good, God gave a “token” (Heb. owth, oth), meaning a distinguishing mark or miraculous sign. This sign is His “bow” (Heb. qesheth, keh-SHETH). This bow, in the usual treatment of the Hebrew word, is God’s bow of war, but here He gives His bow a new use and a new meaning. The bow or rainbow will be a reminder to Him of His covenant with Noah and the earth never again to destroy it with water. 14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud

over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: 15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. It is noteworthy that nothing happens outside of God’s permissive will. God brought the cloud and determined that the rainbow would be seen in that cloud. God will see it, but man will be permitted to witness the rainbow as well. Each time we see a rainbow, we are to be reminded that God has made a covenant to never again destroy the earth with a great flood. God is faithful and true to His word—a word that remains universal in its application, extending to all

flesh, human and non-human. 16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. The rainbow usually appears when particles of moisture in a “cloud” (Heb. anan, awNAWN) interact with the rays of the sun, usually after a storm. It is comforting to know that the storm of God’s wrath that once resulted in a universal Flood will always be quieted when He looks upon His token of peace, the rainbow. 17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

REHOBOTH
PASTOR DESMOND PRINGLE
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. One of the things that I think is very important to note and take into consideration is the truth that the compassions of the Lord are more than emotions. He has the capacity to bring closure and resolve to what he’s compassionate about. In Mark 1:41Jesus was moved
with compassion and cleansed the leper. In Matthew 14:14 he was moved with compassion and healed the multitude of sick folk. In Mark 20:34 Jesus had compassion on two blind men, laid hands on them and immediately they received sight. We understand that God has no respect of persons. This same impactful, life changing, destiny altering compassion of the Lord is new every single morning. Jeremiah the weeping prophet indicated that he recalled this truth to his own mind and consequently he had hope. Many times we are faced with situations to which we may not readily have solutions or remedies. But if we can just remain mindful of this truth that our Lord is full of inexhaustible compassion we would remain hopeful with a hope that maketh not ashamed. I rejoice in knowing that God is positioned to do something about whatever is
concerning me. Just recently our local church had to relocate. As we were doing our due diligence we had one thing in mind. But the Lord in his compassion had another. Like Isaac in Genesis 26, he dug a well and when there was no contention or struggle about it he called that place Rehoboth and said For now the Lord hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land. Remember our precious Lord is considered the good Shepherd. David said, he maketh me to lie down in green pastures. Green pastures are symbolic of being fully nourished and nurtured. It’s a healthy and wealthy place. That is where the good shepherd leads his sheep. Provisions! I encourage and exhort you to not lament over what befalls you. Be mindful of the compassions of the Lord and his capacity to make room, open doors, supply needs, heal, deliver, and set free. Jesus IS LORD!

THE PROCESS....
IN LOVE: [Though we may not ALL/ALWAYS agree]
byANDREA Andrea ANDREWS Andrews Many Christians have blamed social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) for being a “beast” that compromises lives, faith convic-
tions and integrity. However, succumbing to such temptation is REALLY a “personal” choice as is any other form of temptation. Some Christians have even stated that ‘openly requesting prayer in social media is inappropriate’ based upon the following scripture: But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. - Matthew 6:6 This
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
scripture is ONLY a portion of our instruction and speaks to an otherwise “boastful” condition of the spirit. However, we are instructed in multiple other passages of the Bible to pray one for another (James 5:16; Ecclesiastes 4:9-12; Matthew 18:20). In social media, some remarkable things happen when a network of believers pray together as requested - Healthy babies are born, successful surgeries are performed, healing of bodies take
place...broken relationships and marriages are restored, jobs offers are made AND even someone’s heart becomes branded to accept/receive Christ. What could EVER be abominable about any of this? For those who KNOW there is a devil that is constantly on the prowl seeking whom he can devour (1 Peter 5:8)... When has the enemy EVER asked believers to pray for someone to be healed, delivered or to follow Christ? It’s HOW one
uses social media that matters. If it serves the flesh, then perhaps it’s time to re-evaluate. However, when it GLORIFIES GOD, such activity can not be argued with. #FOOD4THOUGHT Thank you, Gracious Father GOD for answering our petitions as we’ve touched and agreed on these things. Peace, Love & Blessings – Mrs. Garcia www.theprocesschristiancounseling.com
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT The Making of a Leader (Dr. J. Robert Clinton)
DR. JOYCE HARRELL
This is an article that I wrote in 2009, and I thought it was a good idea to promote this book again. Why? Because I believe that leadership is not just a one time event in a person’s life, but that leaders are developed for a life time of service, which
is why I am recommending this book for reading. “The Making of a Leader,” is an excellent tool to use in leadership training. I especially appreciated the quote, “The same Jesus who enabled those leaders to live lives of faith will enable me to live a life of faith today.” This quote was a reminder that Jesus never leaves us nor forsakes us to fend for ourselves. Jesus sent us the Comforter who will empower us and enable us to live a life of faith, if we let Him. The statement that leadership is a lifetime of lessons hit home, for leadership is not only based on knowledge but it is also based on experiences. The different develop-
ment phases helped me to grasp the sovereignty of God and how He has allowed different events to happen in my life for my growth and character development to make me effective for ministry. It is especially comforting to realize that everything happens to us for a reason. All the trials, all the temptations, all the hurts, all the disappointments, all the deliverances, all the victories, the good times and the bad all worked out for my good, for my growth and for God’s glory. There was a time, when I used to get upset because everyone was not on the same page, I didn’t understand why some people had no regard for being
on time or didn’t demonstrate a stick-to-it ness, or commitment. This book allowed me to understand that faithfulness is the yard stick that God measures ministry maturity. I also now understand that everyone is not at the same maturity level, and consequently they must be encouraged differently. Spiritual leadership can only be accomplished with God given capacities. Spiritual leadership can only be accomplished when the leader puts into practice his or her spiritual gifts, natural abilities and skills. I’ve been reminded in this book that quality leadership takes time and it does not come easy. The call for spiri-
tual leadership must be taken seriously and the leader should want to be developed to his or her full potential. That means the leader must make themselves available for training and continuing education opportunities. The leader must develop a ministry philosophy that simultaneously honors biblical leadership values, embraces the challenges of the time in which they live and fit their unique gifts and personal development if they expect to be productive over a whole life time. This book is a valuable tool for ministry and leadership training; I pray you will find it useful
HOW DARE YOU, GOD? (PART VIII) “And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to show in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.” - Exodus 9:16 (KJV) DONE and still NOT TAKE GOD SERIOUSLY! GOD chose Pharaoh for this assignment because HE WAS THE MAN IN THE LAND! He was POPULAR, POWERFUL and RAMBUCTIOUS making his LADY DR. PHELENCIA A. This as the God wanted HIS PEOPLE and OMNIPRESENT, OMNIPO- HIS ENEMIES to SEE HIS TENT, OMNISCIENT GOD POWER FIRSTHAND. I SO says, “For now I will stretch out LOVE MY GOD! He goes MY HAND that I may smite BEYOND DELIVERING PESthee and thy people with pes- TILENCE. God tells Pharaoh, in
my modern day voice, since you have ERRAND RUNNERS to do your bidding, if you WANT TO KEEP ANYTHING that is OUTSIDE of YOUR HOUSE…like your cattle and ALL that is in your field you better HURRY UP and bring it home. Because if it is OUTSIDE when the HAIL comes I’M GOING TO DESTROY IT! Now there COMES A TIME when even your most LOYAL FRIENDS, WHO SEE YOU LOSING in a BATTLE, may decide that YOU HAVEN’T GOT QUITE ENOUGH INSURANCE to ensure them, that they are NOT GOING TO LOSE CATASTROPICALLY, if they keep following in behind you as you RELENTLESSLY MOVE in direct opposition to GOD! It was a WELL-ESTABLISHED FACT in their faces that Pharaoh didn’t have ENOUGH POWER to undo ANYTHING GOD DID as EVERY WORD GOD SENT MANIFESTED!
Pharaoh’s in-house approval ratings were dwindling fast. He could try to LOOK HAPPY if he wanted to but when the REAL ANOINTING leaves the BUILDING IMITATIONS COME QUICK, CHEAP, are COSTLY and EXTREMELY INEFFECTIVE! No matter how you DRESS IT UP or what you call it, you will NEVER BE ABLE TO REPLACE what was SENT TO YOU BY GOD! Those who FEARED THE WORD OF LORD among Pharaoh’s servants WENT and DID EXACTLY WHAT GOD told them to do in order to KEEP THEIR STUFF! And, anybody who DIDN’T MOVE when God said MOVE…JUST LIKE THAT, LOST THEIR STUFF, JUST LIKE THAT! (Ex. 9:20-21) It is ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS to watch Satan’s imps in a HURRY to RUN FOR COVER because God is HOT ON THEIR HEELS. YES, THE LINES HAD BEEN DRAWN! In Ex.
9:15, God said, “…I will stretch out MY hand…” This was for the pestilence. In Ex. 9:22, God told Moses to “Stretch forth THINE hand toward heaven…” This was for the hail, thunder and lightening in all the land of Egypt. Yes, God wanted Pharaoh TO KNOW that Moses BELONGED TO HIM and He was OPERATING WITH HIS AUTHORITY! After this God sent thunder, hail and fire upon the ground. (Ex. 9:23) God didn’t tell Pharaoh He was sending a deluxe package which included the thunder and lightening but He didn’t have to! God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think…LOL! (Eph. 3:20-21) The hail HIT EVERY HERB and BROKE EVERY TREE in the FIELD throughout EGYPT. ONLY in the land of Goshen [which means “drawing near”], where God’s people were was Continued From Page 14 HOW DARE YOU ...
