ONE FAITH FELLOWSHIP’S NUGGETS FOR THE SOUL YOUR HEAVEN OR HELL? THE answer to the question if this present world is “Your Heaven or Hell?” is determined by if one has submitted his or her life to the Lord God. For those persons who have chosen NOT TO submit their free-will choice to receive God’s offer of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ; they have chosen this present world as their “Heaven”. Yes, this present world that is full of sin, heart-ache and pain, sickness and hopelessness and definitely governed by the horror of Satan and all of the evil experiences he brings;
is the best experience for the rejecter of Jesus’ offer of salvation. This present world will be the most pleasant experience for those who will not accept Jesus’ death, burial and Resurrection which is the only way to experience the promise of God’s Heaven for eternity. For individuals who insist on living according to their desires and decisions and choosing to ignore God’s desire and direction, will reap the only possible outcome that can be; torment forever in the flames of the Lake of Fire. This means

eternal separation from God and the eternal torture of Hell. Therefore, while this present world is horrible and plagued
with the rule of Satan; it is only going to get worse for the non-follower of Jesus Christ. However, thank you Jesus that this truth is totally opposite for those persons who have received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and who are living daily in submission to His Lordship. For us, this present world will be our only experience of Hell. As Sons and Daughters of God, we have the “Blood-Guarantee” that we can look forward to a TOTALLY DIFFERENT HEAVENLY EXPERIENCE! Through fellowship with Daddy-God, we experience a taste of Heaven right here in the
midst of this Hell-Hole; which motivates us to continue to live for the Lord to experience the fullness of Heaven. We can look forward to spending eternity with the Lord; in a prepared place for a prepared people. Followers of the Lord God can look forward to living eternally without the presence and influence of Satan and sin, sickness and pain and the horror of this present world. Tears, death, nor any type of sorrow will be the description of our eternal Heavenly experience. The promise of Heaven Continued On Page 14 YOUR HEAVEN OR.......

AIM for Change
By the end of the lesson, we will: DISCUSS the misguided theology of the plan to build the tower of Babel; humbly ACKNOWLEDGE futile attempts to be like God; and IDENTIFY personal “towers of Babel” that we attempt to construct today.
Keep In Mind:
“So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city” (Genesis 11:8).
Focal verses:
Genesis 11:1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. 2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. 3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. KJV
SEPTEMBER 29, 2013 -Bible Study Guide 5 4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. 5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. 6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. 7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. 8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. 9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
DISCUSS THE MEANING 1. Why didn’t God choose another intervention to stop the people from building the tower? Why do you think He chose to give them different languages? 2. What do you think about God using the very thing the people were afraid of as His judgment (i.e., v. 4 records that they were afraid of being scattered)? LESSONS IN OUR SOCIETY What the tower of Babel’s builders did not realize is that they had already made a name for themselves. They’d turned Babel into a very prosperous place. But they wanted something grander—a stairway to heaven. If the United States does nothing else, our country is already great, but no, we’re striving to become greater. To date, our national debt is more than $15.5 trillion. What else will result from our aspirations to legendary greatness? MAKE IT HAPPEN Are you overstepping your bounds, living beyond your means, or taking matters into your own hands? If so, your challenge this week is to get help. Find a credit counseling agency to deal with your finances, a pastor or advisor to help you trust God again, or a therapist to help you learn how to be content. FOLLOW THE SPIRIT What God wants me to do: REMEMBER YOUR THOUGHTS Special insights I have learned: MORE LIGHT ON TEXT Genesis 11:1-9 While most are familiar from childhood with the story of the tower of Babel, one wonders whether most could articulate exactly why God was displeased with the tower’s construction and chose to intervene as He did. In this portion of Scripture, God’s big-picture thinking and His faithful, unchanging nature are juxtaposed against a faithless people’s vain imaginations and plans. This is a classic story of man’s plans for God coming into sharp conflict with God’s plans for man. The previous chapter of Genesis contains a genealogy of Noah’s descendants after the Flood. The problem, which soon became apparent, was that sin also survived the Flood. 1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. 2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. The first verse is a key background statement setting up the coming events. Unfortunately, there is no way to know what language (Heb. saphah, sa-FA) was once universal. Scholars agree that the ancient “land of Babylonia,” also known as Chaldea, is in southern Mesopotamia; most versions call it Shinar (see 10:10, 14:1, 9). Some think it significant that the author of Genesis noted an eastward movement, which they see as having a dark similarity with Adam and Eve heading east out of the Garden of Eden (3:24) and Cain moving east of Eden after killing Abel (4:16). 3 And they said one to an-
other, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. 4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.” Tourists in Israel are often told a legend that once an angel was carrying a huge load of stones overhead, but the bag broke and the stones littered the nation, where they remain to this day. Unlike the plethora of stones available in Palestine, however, stones in the new region were rare, so the travelers learned local construction methods. John Walton writes, “This combination of baked brick and bitamen mastic made for waterproof buildings as sturdy as stone” (The NIV Application Commentary, 372).The towers in Mesopotamia, called ziggurats, would have differed from those in Israel, which were mostly defensive watchtowers. Among the thirty or so ruins of ziggurats that archaeologists have found in the region, all share similar features. They tended to resemble pyramids, were usually dedicated to deities, had outer ramps or stairs leading to the peak, ranged in size from sixty to 200 feet per side, and were considered sacred places reserved for the gods. The idea was to make it easy for the gods to visit humans, via the convenient

stairway, and bless and interact with them. Just making bricks and building a city, and even building towers, were neither evil nor uncommon practices. The problem—and offense to God—was in the motivation and purpose. The people wanted to 1) reach into the sky, and 2) become famous or, as other versions word it, make a name for themselves. Ironically, albeit infamously, they succeeded in both endeavors. As much or more can be gained from studying God’s reaction than the people’s actions. Similar to God judging the world harshly via the Flood because of systemic unbridled evil in the world (6:5), so it seems that the events at hand represented a more serious heart of evil than at first meets the eye. William LaSor writes, “Whether the descendants of Seth have become corrupt or something demonic has entered the world, the point is that a new level has been reached in the rampant

spread of evil” (Old Testament Survey, 82). LaSor notes that just as cancer doctors attack the disease with the strongest treatment possible, so God sweepingly judged sin at the Fall, and He intended to wipe out sin with the Flood, pushing the restart button on humanity with Noah. With plans in full motion to erect the tower, God saw the people’s hearts and recognized a familiar saturation of evil. In short, man was in rebellion mode again, even if the narrative is not sufficiently specific. Enough blanks can be filled in by God’s comprehensive response.Walton observes that the fact people did not want to scatter would not have been such a terrible thing. Even today, families continually lament that they are so spread out from one another. The whole problem was with the ziggurat, which was the ultimate symbol of Babylonian religion. As mankind subdued the earth, his error was to begin to subdue the gods, to humanize them. In Walton’s words, “with the development of urbanization people began to envision their gods in human terms” (The NIV Application Commentary, 377). In other words, they not only tried to bring their gods down to earth, they also tried to make them into their own image. As Walton notes, the sin here “went beyond mere idolatry; it degraded the nature of God by portraying him as having [human] needs” (Ibid.).Thus, we must trust that God’s response was appropriate for the level and extent of the willful, idolatrous, cancerous ignorance in the

people’s hearts. “This will only lead to unmitigated disaster,” was His judgment, and He put a swift and irreversible end to it. 8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. 9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. Some commentators say that God scattered the people because His original plan was for mankind to spread out over the earth (1:28), and they rebelled against the master plan. God filling the earth, however, was to be through reproduction, not simply forcing them to spread out, which would not increase population. The people scattering was the natural, inevitable result of them no longer being able to communicate. The name of the tower, Babel meant confusion or mixing, and it was also the source of the word “Babylon” (e.g., Genesis 10:10; 2 Kings 17:24, 20:14; Micah 4:10), which was the metropolis of Babylonia, the whole of which was often referred to as Babylon (e.g., Psalm 87:4, 137:1; Isaiah 14:4). In Ezra 5:13 (KJV), King Cyrus of Persia was referred to as “king of Babylon,” and the same for the Persian king Artaxerxes in Nehemiah 13:6. The ruins of Babylon today are found near Al Hillah, Iraq, about fifty-five miles south of Baghdad. God does not condemn building cities or towers, but He does condemn spiritually fatal thinking that obstinately insists on humanizing God and refusing to recognize Him as the one,

Man’s plan without God is to take matters into his own hands, to make his own master plan, to create his own name and fortune, and worst of all, to create his own humanized gods. Everything is up to man; he is responsible for the entire universe. Tired of waiting on God, he forfeits God’s blessing and grabs what he can grab and does what he can do under his own finite
power. God’s plan for man, in contrast, is to trust Him, to let Him take care of humanity and the universe, to follow His plan, to let Him lead and guide, and to let Him work out His plan for His people who are called by His great name. THANK GOD FOR MY HURTING
JASON TROY LEWIS
David, a 2-year old with leukemia, was taken by his mother, Deborah, to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, to see Dr. John Truman who specializes in treating children with cancer and various blood diseases. Dr. Truman’s prognosis was devastating: “He has a 50-50 chance.” The countless clinic visits, the blood tests, the intravenous drugs, the fear and pain--the mother’s ordeal can be almost as bad as the child’s because she must stand by, unable to bear the pain herself.
David never cried in the waiting room, and although his friends in the clinic had to hurt him and stick needles in him, he hustled in ahead of his mother with a smile, sure of the welcome he always got. When he was three, David had to have a spinal tap--a painful procedure at any age. It was explained to him that, because he was sick, Dr. Truman had to do something to make him better. “If it hurts, remember it’s because he loves you,” Deborah said. The procedure was horrendous. It took three nurses to hold David still, while he yelled and sobbed and struggled. When it was almost over, the tiny boy, soaked in sweat and tears, looked up at the doctor and gasped, “Thank you, Dr. Tooman, for my hurting.” The Apostle Paul resolves in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, “...I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Understand friends that God is at work in our lives in-spite of the various pains we endure. Measure of a Man
Inspired by Mark 10: 43-45 Dedicated to Rudy Johnson It’s not in the value of his checkbook Or in his philosophical outlook Neither in his ownership of land God’s measure of a man Not in his possessions or his titles His diplomas, his awards, his engraved idols Nor in his politics, his notable past Donating large sums is not the task God’s measure of a man is his servitude Life storms does not render him unglued He endures narrow roads and dangerous curves To answer the call of the God he serves His sees life from the view of a hill On his appointed journey to do God’s will He sees beyond the scope of the average man His vision to serve gives him the upper hand He forges onward beyond his physical pain He rises from his bed with a song to sing Loves his family and does them no wrong God has heard him pray all night long He must be measured by God’s scale A seven foot tape is to no avail Thus God’s measure of a man Is not measured by the height he stands

OUT OF CONTROL
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. – Galatians 5:16-18
byANDREA Andrea ANDREWS Andrews When God created us in His own image His creation included His emotional characteristics. We know from Gen-
esis to Revelation that God is full of emotion – love, compassion, joy, laughter, anger, patience, mercy, wrath, forgiveness, tears etc. When He said, “Let us create man in our own image”, that meant that humankind [male & female] would be a direct reflection of His true nature. His original creation experienced deep fracture in the Garden of Eden
and has subsequently suffered grave consequences especially for those within His family [believers]. Instead of such emotion being bridled and contained by the “self control” we are to exhibit, we battle daily with our flesh to submit to the Spirit of God; whether it be the argument we had before we left the house, that inconsiderate driver we yelled at during
our commute or the auxiliary board member we cussed out after church on Sunday – God is not pleased. Nor is He pleased when we withhold compassion, mercy, patience and love. God adorned us with the “gift” of emotion in order that we “fully” experience this journey and so that we are always intimately connected to Him. He did not give us these
characteristics in order that they RULE over us. The only Ruler over our lives must be The Lord God. Once we make Him LORD over our lives, our flesh becomes second nature and what was once our primary nature [self gratification] falls away. Peace, Love & Blessings – Mrs. Garcia www.theprocesschristiancounseling.com
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
7 Keys To An Effective Ministry (Part 1) A Leadership Lifter by, Rick Warren
DR. JOYCE HARRELL
Rick Warren states, “Every Christian needs a ministry and a mission. You need a ministry to believers and a mission to unbelievers.” Rev. Warren goes on to state that , “regardless to where “God uses you or how God uses you, there has
to be seven functions in order to have God’s blessings on it.” Number 1, an effective ministry is based on God’s grace. We must realize that we don’t deserve to be in ministry. We don’t deserve to be a Christian, much less be in the ministry. We don’t deserve forgiveness, much less to be able to be used by God. Grace is the fact that God knows every stupid mistake I’ll make in the ministry and yet He has chosen me anyway. Just because you’re serving the Lord, doesn’t mean that you’re not going to make any mistakes. You will. Just because you are a minister of
God doesn’t mean you are perfect. You’re not. I’m not. None of us are. We are all Becomers. We are all on the road. While we are growing, we’re giving. While we’re growing, we’re serving. Number 2, an effective ministry is not only based on God’s grace, it’s built on God’s Word. The Bible is the guidebook for ministry. Not anything else. We need to get acquainted with 1 and 2 Timothy and the book of Titus. You, as someone who’s involved in ministry in your church, need to be very familiar with these books because they’re written to people in the ministry. They
are guidelines for service. Acts 20:32 “I give to you the word of grace which is able to build you up.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness that the man or woman of God may be thoroughly furnished unto every good work.” Phillips translation: “That we may have the comprehensive equipment to serve God.” Number 3, the third mark of a ministry that God really blesses is it’s done for God’s glory. It’s not built to promote a personality. Humil-
ity is being honest about your weaknesses and recognizing that your strengths are gifts from God. You should be able to say with confidence, “Follow me as I follow Christ.” It does not mean you’ve got it all together. You’re never going to have it all together until you get to heaven. But you need to be able to say, “Follow me as I follow Christ because my heart is in this direction. That’s where my heart is. That’s where I want to go. That’s where I want to be. I’m not perfect but that’s where I want to be.” Dr. Joyce’s contact information is, Joyce-harrell@sbcglobal.net
lives and will to Him to fulfill the purpose and assignments which He has for our lives! We can’t allow ourselves to be tricked by the deceitful tricks of Satan! We must remember that He who faithfully endures to the end shall be saved. This means that we can’t pretend to follow Jesus or to follow Him from afar and not be fully committed to Him. Daddy
God sent His Son, and His Precious Son gave His life so that this place will be our ONLY experience of Hell. The Holy Spirit desires to lead and guide us into all truth and righteousness. We must make up minds to continue to believe in, live for and serve Jesus so that this present world won’t be our experience of “Heaven”. Then, and only then, will we
be able to know FOR A FACT that this current world is our sample of hell and that we are on our way to experience our Heaven! God bless!! HOW DARE YOU, GOD? (PART IX)
LADY DR. PHELENCIA A. WHITE
“And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wick-
ed.” - Exodus 9:27“I have sinned THIS TIME”, says Pharaoh. MOMENTARY CONVICTION in an EMOTIONALLY DISTRESSING SITUATION like an ALTAR CALL at a FUNERAL. Where do the EMOTIONALLY STIRRED SOULS GO after we do a HEAD COUNT to IMPRESS ourselves and then go to the REPAST? Who KNOWS? Better yet DOES ANYONE CARE? Pharaoh’s HEART was STILL WICKED! (Jer. 17:9-10) The WICKED ENJOY doing WICKEDNESS. (Ps. 10) A young GIRL on T.V. was on the phone talking to
her girlfriend about CAUSING TROUBLE and said, “I JUST LOVE A SCANDAL!” preparing to launch one against a WOMAN. Girl. Woman. Got it! Good! The person on the phone tried to tell her NOT TO DO IT. JEZEBEL was a CUTE, HOT MESSY MESS and had to test her SKILLS ultimately becoming a FINANCIAL LIABILITY for the PRODUCERS so SHE HAD TO GO. (Prov. 12:1-8; Rev. 2:18-29) She LOVED LIVING her LIFE for the LOVE of the MESS and it COST HER DEARLY! MANY SAVED FOLKS like the SAME THING! (Prov. 6:16-19)
Would a truly CONVERTED, BORN AGAIN, NEW CREATURE IN CHRIST like doing things like this? (2 Cor. 5:17) NO! But those who do them are LIARS just like their DEVIL DADDY! (Prov. 11:1921) “Entreat the LORD…that there be no more mighty thundering and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.” was Pharaoh’s request and promise. (Ex. 9:28; Joel 2:12-32) Moses’ response, “As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the LORD…” (Ex. 9:28) Moses was in a CURSED LAND and went to PRAY in
the PLACE where His God DWELLED! (Ex. 9:24-26; 2 Chron. 7:14; 2 Cor. 6:14-18; 1 John 1; Rev. 18) He prayed. The plague STOPPED! (Ex. 9:33) Was Pharaoh a CHANGED MAN? NO! Just because people LOOK and TALK LIKE they are CHANGED does not MEAN THEY ARE CHANGED! We let ANYTHING with a CHRISTIAN LABEL into GOD’S HOUSE as long as it DOESN’T AFFECT OUR PERSONAL AGENDAS. will THROW GOD’S ANOINTED OUT of GOD’S HOUSE to let the HOMIES INSIDE! GOD’S HOUSE IS NOT A PERSONAL CLUB HOUSE! Then we EXPECT GOD to FINANCE OUR MESS because we THROW HIS NAME ON IT! NO! GOD is FINANCING the mother who is MAKING SANDWICHES in her KITCHEN to feed the HOMELESS from her pocket. The brother or sister who is COLLECTING CLOTHES for those IN NEED WITH A PURE HEART and not trying to BUILD A WARDROBE off of the donations. GOD is FINANCING those who ARE COMMITTED to GOING into the STREETS to COMPEL men, women, boys and girls to present their BODIES to HIM as LIVING SACRIFICES, HOLY, and ACCEPTABLE which is their REASONABLE SERVICE. Those who MIGHT NEVER RECEIVE A DIME because THEY AREN’T on the CHURCHES A-LIST, but are on GOD’S BLACKLIST…despised and rejected of men, looking JUST LIKE JESUS committed to BUILDING the KINGDOM.
