Darnell Jones, Pastor & Rev. Darryl K. La Bat Sr., Host-Pastor. For more than 30 years our family has been celebrating God through music. It is our belief that a family who prays together, stays together. With God’s grace and mercy we have indeed been able to do that. Our Parents, The late Dr. Thomas Matthew
Sr. & Cleo Durr, laid a great foundation for us and it was built on our Christianity and Faith. My family and I have kept the tradition alive and we live it out through song and in unity as often as we can. The Theme for the concert is, “God Is Sunshine On A Cloudy Day” taken from Psalm 107:13; Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distress. ONE FAITH FELLOWSHIP’S NUGGETS FOR THE SOUL WHAT WILL BE YOUR TRAVELING EXPERIENCE Since the order of life is for it to continue moving forward in time, seasons and motion; that means each of us is moving forward on the escalator of life to the end of our destination (purpose, target, goal and objective)! Whether it is the destination of finishing school or a project, finally owning that long awaited-home, etc.; the time allotment for our lives to move forward is continuously ticking away. Definitely, our journey’s end of where we will spend eternity in Heaven or Hell is getting closer and closer with each passing moment. While on life’s journey headed for our destination, we can control our travel experience of how we allow life’s
challenges to affect us! Some people will have the travel experience of allowing their minds and hearts to have a bumpy, miserable and worried experience. While others will choose to have the travel experience of Psalm 37:7aRest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him. As long as we are on this side of eternity, we will all experience the agonies of life; however, we don’t have to allow the challenges of life to control the travel experience of our journey. The Pulpit Comm. explains Daddy God’s invitation to rest as: “literally, to be silent; i.e.do not murmur; make no complaint; be silently agreeable and submissive. We are to quietly sub-

mit to His will.” We are to quietly rest knowing that He is in control of those of us who have submitted our hearts and lives to Him. We are to quietly rest because of our assurance that He knows what He is doing. We are to quietly rest because when we voice “our” opinions, mostly it will speak negatively
to ourselves and to others of what He is voicing for our lives. We are to quietly rest because we learn as is stated in Romans 8:38 NLT-And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” We are to quietly rest because our attention should not be on “Making things happen for ourselves” but rather on making sure we are staying in tune with His will and path for a successful, restful and peaceful travel experience. In so doing, Daddy-God will attend to “Making things happen for us”. He will provide the favour, provision, opened doors, grace, mercy and everything else needed to bring to pass His best into our lives. Psalms 46:10a reminds us to: Be still,
and know that I am God: N A Standard Bible-”Cease [striving] and know. “The Lord God loves us and does not want us to be concerned and worried about issues He has already taken care of. We are also told in Psalm 37:7a to wait patiently for Him. Most of us will agree that Daddy-God does not work in our preferred time schedule or fashion. Most of us will agree that most of the time we will pass through the tunnel (s) of doubt before what God has promised in our lives will manifest. But when we acknowledge that there are such wonderful conclusions that Daddy-God births in us during our waiting; we will learn to wait patiently for Him. “OBAMACARE COMES TO YOU WORKSHOP” Senator-Elect Holly Mitchell and Trinity Baptist Church Present Workshop on Affordable Care Act LOS ANGELES, CA – October 1, 2013 - Trinity Baptist Church will host a Workshop on “ObamaCare Comes To You “ on Saturday, November 2, 2013, from 10:00am to 2:00pm, in the J.L. Caston Fellowship Center, at the church, located at 2040 West Jefferson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90018. This workshop is a joint effort between Senator Holly Mitchell and Trinity Baptist Church to provide critical and essential information to the community on the Affordable Healthcare Act, which opened
for enrollment on October 1, 2013. On-site enrollment also is offered. The Affordable Healthcare Act, also called “ObamaCare”, was enacted by the US Congress so millions of Americans will be able to choose affordable, high-quality health insurance coverage. The program will take effect nationwide January 2014 and enrollment started on October 1, 2013. In California, an insurance exchange is offered through Covered California, which is a new, easy-to-use marketplace where you and
your family may get financial assistance to make coverage more affordable and where you will be able to compare and choose health coverage that best fits your needs and budget. By law, your coverage can’t be dropped or denied even if you have a pre-existing medical condition or get sick. Every individual must be enrolled in a plan by January 2014 or be subject to a fine. It is important that each individual understands essential aspects of the new law and the options offered through Covered Cali-
fornia before enrolling. The Trinity workshop will provide that information in English and Spanish and offer opportunity for individuals to enroll on site. “Each uninsured individual in our community can and should now find out what healthcare is available to you and your family members under the new law, whether you are entitled to free or assisted coverage, how to choose an option which fits your needs, and what to do to enroll in an affordable health plan immediately,” said Senator Holly J.
Mitchell. “ObamaCare offers an unprecedented opportunity for Californians to obtain affordable health coverage that must include prevention, medical treatment, prescriptions and rehabilitation for you and your children up to age 26. In this workshop your questions will be answered by certified experts and, if eligible, you can enroll on site.” PLEASE CALL THE CHURCH OFFICE AT (323)735-0044 FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

Genesis 21:13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed. 14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba. 21:17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is. 18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for
I will make him a great nation. 19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink. 20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer. 21 And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt. 26:2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: 3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; 4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; 5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. 26:12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. 13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great.
IN FOCUS Carol slowly opened the envelope. She already knew what was inside. Since age 13, Carol’s father sent her a birthday card and enclosed a $100 check. Her father had never really been a part of her life, and a part of her resented this annual token “gift” from him. Carol was the oldest of his three daughters; her younger halfsisters, Vivian and Shirley, lived with her dad and his new wife, their mother. Carol’s father and her mom had dated in high school. When Carol’s mother became pregnant, her father broke all ties. He sent regular child support payments, but rarely visited Carol, even though they lived in the same city. If they happened to bump into one another at stores or on the street, he would say hello and then claim to have to hurry off somewhere. When she graduated from high school, he had sent a note congratulating her and a check. Friends told her that he attended the graduations of both her sisters and had showered each one with floral bouquets. In a few months, Carol would graduate from college with honors. She already knew that her father would have some excuse for not attending. She knew there would probably be another note and a check. In today’s lesson, we will see how the circumstances of birth can cruelly separate siblings. Only through the loving kindness of God do justice and fairness come into fruition. THE PEOPLE, PLACES AND TIMES Hagar. Hagar was an Egyptian girl who lived as a slave in the household of Abraham and Sarah. Although the Bible does not tell us, it is reasonable to assume that Hagar may have been a part of a generous dowry paid to Abraham by Pharaoh (12:10-20). Giving slaves was a widely accepted practice. If this theory is correct, then it is easy for us to see that Hagar was at a distinct advantage among Sarah and the other Hebrew women. She had come from Egypt, a land that was economically, socially, and politically advanced. Now she was the property of a nomadic tribeswoman. She was both a foreigner and a slave among a people whose living conditions must have seemed quite primitive to her. Concubines. In the ancient world, it was not unusual for men in power to have both wives and concubines. Concubines served many of the same roles as wives. The primary difference was their inability to actually marry the man. Often, this was a socioeconomic issue. If the concubine was a slave, then she could not marry her master. Reasons for the practice of concubinage are numerous. Poor families could find financial relief by selling their daughters (Exodus 21:7-11; Judges 19:1). A concubine was often used to provide male heirs for a barren wife (Genesis 16:15-16) and often
for multiplying both the available family workforce and the family wealth and status. Concubinage was also used to solidify political relationships between nations. Royal wives were sometimes inherited by succeeding kings (2 Samuel 12:8). We read of concubinage in the early Israelite history. Though they did not have the same status as the wife, concubines were not to be mistreated (Exodus 21:7-11) and were protected from being violated by other men (Genesis 35:22, 49:3-4). The sons of concubines were often treated as co-heirs with the sons of wives. BACKGROUND Not only does God make promises, He can be counted on to keep them. God promised Abraham that not only would he have a son, God would also “make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered” (from 13:16). Abraham was already an old man when God made this promise, and his wife, Sarah, was past childbearing age. More than ten years went by and still Abraham had no child. So it is not that surprising that Abraham had grown doubtful. Instead of trusting God to do what He said He would, Abraham foolishly listened to his wife, Sarah. She proposed that Abraham take her Egyptian slave, Hagar, as a concubine and father children through her. Hagar became pregnant and the domestic situation between the two women became so hostile that Hagar ran away. Hagar was intercepted by the angel of the Lord on her way back to Egypt. The angel, perhaps a pre-incarnate presence of Jesus, told Hagar, “Return to thy mistress [Sarah], and submit thyself under her hands. … I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude” (from 16:9-10). Hagar believed that God would keep His promise to her, and she returned to Abraham and Sarah. Perhaps Hagar understood that if God could be with her in the wilderness, He could be with her in having to submit to Sarah. This is a wonderful reminder to us. We often want to run away from our problems, but God wants to demonstrate His power in the midst of our problems. When her son was born, Hagar obeyed the instructions she had received from the angel and named him Ishmael, which means “God hears.” IN DEPTH 1. God’s Promise for Ishmael (Genesis 21:13-14)
By the end of the lesson, participants will: EXPLORE the implications of the blessing God gave to Isaac and Ishmael; CONFESS any jealousies that stand in the way of loving God and neighbor as believers should; and PRAY for world peace, including peace among people of all faiths.
Keep In Mind:
“In all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called. And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed” (from Genesis 21:12-13).
Focal verses:
KJV
When a son was finally born to him, Abraham was 99 years old. It had been 24 years since he had obeyed the call of God and left his homeland of Haran (12:13). After he separated from his nephew, Lot, Abraham enjoyed the favor of God, including his defeating the eastern alliance of kings. God made a formal covenant with this faithful servant that specified three particular promises. First, Abraham would father a child of his own body (15:4). Second, Abraham was told what will become of his offspring for the next several generations (vv. 12-16). Finally, he would come to possess a specific land (vv. 18-21). Abraham’s reliance on God did waver, however. Instead of trusting God, Abraham placed his trust in himself. He attempted to produce the heir God had promised by taking Sarah’s slave, Hagar, as a concubine and fathering a child with her. Not surprisingly, this only led to hurt and heartache for all three of them. Abraham was not unlike present-day Christians. We sometimes lose faith when God does not “show up” when we want Him to. Rather than rely on Him and wait on Him, we grow anxious and turn instead to our own limited abilities. 2. God’s Protection and Provision for Ishmael (vv. 17-21) The strain of the relationships in Abraham’s household became apparent during the celebration held for Isaac’s weaning. During the festivities, Sarah saw Ishmael, now a teenager, mocking her son Isaac. Sarah was outraged. All the resentment she felt toward Hagar and Ishmael spilled out. She demanded that Abraham expel Hagar and Ishmael from the encampment. We must remember that even the slaves within the tribal group enjoyed the food, shelter, and protection of the camp. Now Sarah demanded that these vital means of survival be removed from Hagar and Ishmael. Sarah’s motivation was clear: Ishmael must not share in any part of her son Isaac’s inheritance. This is especially heartbreaking when we consider that God had already made a promise to Sarah and Abraham concerning the inheritance that would be given to Isaac. Of course, the idea of sending Ishmael away made Abraham very unhappy as he had, no doubt, grown to love his firstborn son. However, God instructed Abraham to “hearken unto her voice.” God reminded Abraham “in Isaac shall thy seed be called” (v. 12). God reminded Abraham that Ishmael was the product of his and Sarah’s impatience, while Isaac was the child of God’s promise. Because God is a promise keeper, He offered Abraham this reassurance: “And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed” (v. 13). The continued presence of Hagar and Ishmael placed a psychological strain on Sarah, however, and she wanted the discomfort to end. Sarah’s desire for a “quick fix” should remind us of ourselves. We want our problems and worries to end—quickly! We often take actions that are not motivated by love but by our own selfishness. It is in these dark and difficult times that we must draw near to God and seek His wisdom and strength. It is only when we fol-
low direction from God that we can we get through those dark and bitter experiences. As He did with Abraham and Sarah, God has made us promises. He has promised us freedom from stress and worry (Philippians 4:6-7; Psalm 91:1; Matthew 11:29), hope (Psalm 33:18; Colossians 1:27; 1 Peter 1:3), forgiveness (1 John 1:9; Psalm 103:12; Isaiah 1:18), and eternal life (John 3:16, 36, 4:14). Our realization of God’s promises is predicated upon our obedience to Him. It would appear that Ishmael was a casualty in the domestic strife between his parents; however, verses 21-27 make it clear that God had not forgotten His promise to Abraham, and that He fully intended to protect and provide for Abraham’s firstborn son. After Abraham expelled Hagar and Ishmael, they quickly ran out of water. Verse 17 lets us know that the omniscient God was aware of everything going on, including their distress: God heard Ishmael crying. Once again God revealed Himself to Hagar and repeated His promise to provide for her son. He would, God assured Hagar again, “make him a great nation” (v. 18). Here we see that not only was God concerned about Ishmael’s immediate needs (water and shelter), He had plans for Ishmael’s future as well. God had no intention of allowing Abraham’s firstborn son to die in the desert. He may not be the “promised child,” but we see that God loved Ishmael as much as He loved Isaac. In verse 19, we read that God “opened her eyes, and she

saw a well of water.” Distress often has a blinding effect on us. Everything appears dark when we are troubled, and often we cannot clearly see our situation. As God ministered to Hagar in the desert, she was able to see what she could not see before: a well. This is a powerful reminder that we must continue to praise God even when we are at our wit’s end. Thanking Him and praising Him is our “eye-opener.” 3 . G od ’ s P r om i s e f o r Isaac (26:2-5, 12-13) In the opening of Genesis 26, there was a famine in the land. This led Isaac, now a grown man, to seek out a safe haven for his tribe in a larger city where they would have a better chance of finding a regular food source. Gerar is located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in the territory belonging to the Philistine people. Isaac would have needed the permission of Abimelech, the Philistine king, to set up residency for his people. At some point, Isaac must have also considered moving his people forward into Egypt because we read that God appeared to him and told him not to go there. Now God transferred to Isaac the blessings that He had given to Abraham. It is important to note that the promises were conditional and were preceded by God’s warning to Isaac not to travel south into Egypt. Instead, God told Isaac to settle in a land that He would provide for him. God then transferred the future promises that He

had laid out for Abraham to Isaac. Not only would God be with Isaac, but He would bless him and give him a land for himself and his offspring. The continuation of God’s promise to Isaac also included the establishment of the same covenant He had made with his father Abraham. God promised to multiply Isaac’s offspring and give them the land. The culmination of the promise was that through Isaac, all of the nations would be blessed because Abraham had obeyed and kept God’s commandments. Interestingly, we see in the entire remainder of the Bible the fulfillment of these promises made to Abraham and then to Isaac. SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES 1. Concerning Ishmael’s future, what did God promise to Abraham and to Hagar (Genesis 21:13, 18)? 2. What were some of the blessings that God promised to Isaac (26:2-5)? DISCUSS THE MEANING The strain between Sarah and Hagar was tremendous. When Sarah reached a breaking point, she demanded that her husband banish Hagar and Ishmael. What did this say about Sarah’s consideration of her husband’s feelings toward his son? LESSONS IN OUR SOCIETY God offers constant reassurance to those who love Him. His promises are certain, but they require our complete obedience to Him and to His word. When we disobey God, we only invite dire consequences and difficulties into our lives.
1-888-290-7277 Rather than God’s will being done in our lives, we often waste time trying to supplant His will with our ways. As He did for Abraham, God can work through any circumstances in our lives to bring His promises to fulfillment. Most of us have had the unhappy experience of making an agreement only to find that it profited us far less than we had hoped for and been led to expect. Just the opposite is true with God’s promises. The more we learn of them, the richer the blessings they contain. MAKE IT HAPPEN Many of us know of situations of hurt and resentment within our own families. We know about fathers who have no relationships with their children, and siblings who have not spoken with one another in years. The causes for these estrangements are numerous, but the result is the same: bitterness and brokenness. Think about some of those situations in your family. Pray and ask God to use you to help reconcile family members. FOLLOW THE SPIRIT What God wants me to do: REMEMBER YOUR THOUGHTS Special insights I have learned: MORE LIGHT ON TEXT Genesis 21:13-14, 17-21, 26:2-5, 12-13 21:13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed. Abraham cared for both Ishmael and Hagar and did not want to abandon them, but God said it must be done. When Sarah talked Abraham into sleeping with her maid, she made a mess of many things. That’s just
NEWS@RAISETHEPRAISENEWS.NET what happens when we take matters into our own hands and do things our way instead of God’s way. But God had compassion for Hagar, Ishmael, and all the Arab children that would be Ishmael’s descendants. This, too, is the way God works. We may mess up His best plans, but He always knew the mistakes we’d make and is able to bring blessings in spite of it all. This is our wonderful God of grace and compassion. The previous verse (v. 12) reminds us that Isaac was Abraham’s seed, and in this verse the same Hebrew word for “seed” is used: zera (ZEH-rah), which can be translated as posterity. God created the Jewish people from Isaac, but He also created the Arab people from Ishmael’s descendants. God created many nations from Abraham’s descen-dants—both from Sarah and from Hagar. The Hebrew word for nation is gowy (GO-ee) and can be translated as people or nation. And as time passed, more nations branched off from Isaac’s and Ishmael’s descendants. 14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba. Abraham made lots of mistakes, but we also see that when God gave him a
direct command, he obeyed immediately, such as when he circumcised all the males in his household (17:23) and even more dramatically, when he started on the path to sacrifice Isaac (22:1-18). So Abraham got up early in the morning to send Hagar and Ishmael away from their home. This was a very difficult task for Abraham, but he did what he could to care for Hagar and Ishmael. Obeying God is not easy if we have already disrupted His perfect plans. Hagar wandered about in the wilderness, having no home and no refuge. The first part of the place name Beersheba refers to a well, which was there, but Hagar didn’t see it until it was supernaturally revealed to her. Beersheba (Heb. Ber Sheba, be-AYR SHEH-bah) means “well of the oath.” 17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is. The Hebrew meaning for Ishmael (Yishmael, yish-mawALE) is “God will hear,” and God heard Ishmael’s cries. When Sarah initially sent the very pregnant Hagar away (16:6-11), God’s eyes were upon her as she desperately stumbled about in the wilderness. God spoke to her, giving her the name for her son. Hagar had already experienced God’s loving care for her and her son even before he was born. And now that she and Ishmael (probably about seventeen years old at this time) were exiled from their home, God was still watching over them both. The angel of the Lord asked Hagar what was wrong. Surely God knew, but there is nothing more comforting than to have someone who knows you are suffering ask, “How are you?” This question lets us know that someone cares about how we are feeling. In His great compassion, God let Hagar know that He was aware of her desperate situation. Although the Ishmaelites were not God’s chosen people, still God cares for them and for all who feel like outsiders. 18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation. 19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink. This promise to Hagar and Ishmael was very similar to the promise made to Abraham in Genesis 12:2. God had promised to make Abraham into a great nation, and here He was making a similar promise to Ishmael as Abraham’s descendant. But God made far greater promises to His chosen people, the Jews (12:2-3, 17:7-8, 18:18, 22:16-18), and these were the promises to Isaac, the son of both Abraham and Sarah. God opened Hagar’s eyes to see the well, so she quickly got water for her son, who was dehydrated almost to the point of death. Hagar knew exactly how to take care of Ishmael at this point. 20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer. 21 And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt. God enabled Ishmael to grow and become a man in his wilderness home. Becoming a skillful archer was necessary in

This was the wilderness that the Israelites wandered in for 40 years. It is now a part of Egypt—that part of the African continent that borders Israel. Bedouin herders still live in this area and are the descendants of Ishmael. 26:2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: 3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; 4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. promise. By this time, both Abraham and Sarah had died and Isaac had married Rebekah. Abraham had been constantly on the move, a nomad traveling from one country to the next. He was a man of action with many dramatic things happening in his life. But God called Isaac to a quiet life. He commanded him to stay right where he was. The Hebrew for “sojourn” is guwr (goor), meaning to remain, to be a stranger or a guest. Although Isaac was called to remain where he was, he was still a stranger in the land, just as God called Abraham to be. God moves in the lives of each individual in different ways. For those whose lives seem very quiet, God may still be leading, and it was to seemingly unremarkable Isaac that God first made the promise, “I will be with thee” (v. 3). This is the promise that we hear God make again and again to His people (Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Gideon, and to us today). God chose Abraham to be the head

The promise to multiply his descendants (Heb. rabah, raw-BAW) means to increase, to nourish. This was something God was doing, something that He was causing to happen. The word “countries” is plural (Heb. erets, EH-rets). The plural assumes that the chosen people would be replacing a number of small nations or city-states. God gave these nations plenty of time to repent—hundreds
of years until Joshua led God’s people in conquering the land. Although many people were dispossessed of their lands by the Hebrew people, this was necessary so that God could bless all the nations of the earth, because it was through the chosen people that God sent the Savior. “Bless” is a word that is often tossed around by Christians without really thinking of what it means. The Hebrew word is barak (baw-RAK), and when we bless God, it means that we figuratively kneel in adoration

GOD’S PERMISSIVE WILL
test and approve what is the will of God – what is good and well-pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2. With every moment we live and breathe our tendency is to operate within God’s “permissive” will rather than His “perfect” will. The mere thought of this, however, should cause believers to cringe. Yet, rarely do we ever consider what this means. Our very core should shake at the presence or probability of being outside of God’s perfect
will...leaning to our own understanding and giving in to the nature of our flesh. While Paul assures us that renewing our minds is the key to welcoming the works of The Holy Spirit within, through and all around us, so few of us truly understand what this passage means. Every moment of everyday is spent battling our wicked impurity and our retched thoughts of continual sin. Every thought is based upon pure selfishness - what
we’ll eat, wear, spend God’s money on, where we’ll live, vacation, etc. Every decision we make (no matter how insignificant) is based upon acts of selfishness and interestingly enough a process in which God never interferes. Could you imagine a world where God interfered with our free will? If you can, you should be filled with terror. Why? Because, if God interfered with our free will then the devil would have free reign; enabling him to
hold a gun to our heads and force us to operate in wickedness. We’ve all heard it said, ‘the devil made me do it”... Yet, the Word of God ensures we will never be tempted beyond what we are able to withstand. Although God permits us to “do as we please”, it does not mean we should. In fact, it means as Christians we must become hypersensitive to the Spirit of God in order that we remain in His perfect Will always. Peace, Love & Blessings www.theprocesschristiancounseling.com.

God is worth waiting for. “He never is before His time, He never is too late.” In a story we wait for the end to clear up the plot; we ought not to prejudge the great drama of life, but stay till the closing scene, and watch to see the end
result and how it will arrive.” When we command ourselves to “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him, we will experience and maintain a smooth, restful, peaceful and exciting travel experience. We won’t worry! We won’t lose faith! We won’t stress! So whether it is with your health,

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
PREPARING LEADERS FOR THE FUTURE
DR. JOYCE HARRELL
It’s good every now and then to stop and take assessment of where you are. Here we are in the 10th month of the year, and we realize how time has truly flown by. Stop and think of the
things you had contemplated on doing but thought it would take too long. Truth be told we have had more than enough time to do more in the area of Kingdom Building. I don’t mind being transparent in the area of ministry, especially if it will help someone else to not make the same mistakes that I’ve made. Please don’t think that because I have a doctorate degree that I have it all together and I don’t make mistakes. I made the mistake of only promoting leaders to lead only when I thought they had achieved what I thought was
necessary for them to be in a leadership position. But after spending time in God’s Word, I realize that I have made a grave mistake. The Maxwell Leadership Bible states, “Effective leadership attracts and brokers the talents of others. Leaders must develop others to reach their potential. No one did this better than Jesus. In Matthew 10 we see the results of Jesus’ vision for more workers (37, 38). Even though He has not finished training His disciples, He sends them out to exercise their gifts. So it is with our people. At some
point we need to end the lecture and send them out to try what they have learned. We should consider how Jesus empowered His twelve-man staff ( Matthew 10:1-15): Jesus selected them and called them by name; After instructing them, He sent them out; He told them to go to the Hebrews, not the Gentiles; He gave them a specific message; He equipped them to gain credentials by giving them tools to confirm their message; He instilled confidence and gave them a plan to acquire needed resources; and He furnished convictions on how they were
to act with both friends and critics.” We must prepare leaders for the future; we cannot scrutinize their every move. Jesus challenged his disciples to be wise but innocent, He warned them about future hardships and He instructed them on how to handle those hardships, He also gave them hope and assurance of ultimate victory. How can our leaders grow if we are locking them into our expectations? Give them what they need and then let go and trust God to do a might work through them. HOW DARE YOU, GOD? (PART XII)
“But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.” - Exodus 11:7
LADY DR. PHELENCIA A. WHITE
For everything there is a time. A purpose. A season under the sun. (Eccles. 3:1-8) To this there is no exception. The Israelites, as GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE HAD SUFFERED A LITTLE WHILE , but God is faithful to not only forgive but to restore. In that, God will put you into a position to both receive and be His bless-
ing to OTHERS. (1 Peter 3:822) While suffering, He brings precious promises to mind He whispered in your ear bringing comfort to your soul as only He can. (Acts 9:4-7) When it seemed no one saw your truth. No one wanted to hear it. Or, no one even cared… But God was RIGHT THERE! (Ps. 50) Many years ago, when the Holy Spirit penned these words, “Girlfriends In Christ is the ambulance to drive the church hurt and unchurched to hospitals (churches) and clinics (ministries)….” Thinking I understood the call, while hearing people articulate very generalized ministry missions,
I did not understand the scope of the assignment. When Moses was in Pharaoh’s house, he did not understand his either as the extent of the suffering of his people had been removed from his life. He only saw their life struggles and oppressions through a window in the palace. But when faced with seeing his Hebrew brother being mistreated by an Egyptian the situation became real. It was then that his life passion, purpose and mission became intensely ignited, however, it lacked direction. Still, Moses had God’s good stuff inside of him finding himself to be God’s man on the run. (Ex. 2:11-
15) No one TRULY KNOWS how GOD qualifies His called. Who can? (Rom. 11:33) After accepting Christ as my personal Savior, being baptized by my father on December 2, 1978, I never expected that 35 years in relationship with God would lead me to this place in faith. A place, that rests solely on God’s sovereignty to do anything in my life, but fail. I may rise. I may fall. (Rom. 7:9-25) But I DID NOT fall off the back of a Church Bus going from GHETTO to GOSPEL overnight. Early on in ministry, I asked God while homeless, “Should I go to Seminary?” He told me, “No! I will teach
you. ” He didn’t want to share His glory in my life with anyone. (John 14:23-31; 1 John 2:26-27) I didn’t accept the call to GAIN NOTORIETY OR FAME (Acts 8:9-25) Could God choose people who have NO FINANCIAL RESOURCES, but have His heart in this hour? (Acts 9:4-12; Mark 9:23; Luke 1:37; Luke 18:27; Mark 10:27; Rom. 4:7-25) Yes, He can. Ministry isn’t a hobby for me. It is a ever-learning process that will never end. Even Jesus continued to learn obedience through suffering Continued On Page 15 HOW DARE YOU ...

story of how at the very last minute God provided a ram in the bush for the sacrifice (v. 13), but Abraham’s total obedience was proved. Then in verse 18, we read the same words as we see here—because Abraham obeyed God’s voice, God chose his descendants to be His people and to bless all the nations through Jesus, who came through his lineage. 12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. 13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great. God blessed Isaac immediately. In the very first year, he harvested one hundred times as much as he had sown, a miraculous crop that could only be due to the blessing of the Lord. Isaac became a wealthy man with an abundance of crops and large herds of sheep and goats. His phenomenal success continued as is evident in the Hebrew, which repeats the thought of the multiplication three times— “waxed great,” “went forward,” and “grew until he became very great.” Sources: “Concubine.” BibleStudyTools.com. http://www.biblestudytools.com/dictionaries/bakers-evangelical-dictionary/ concubine.htm (accessed July 15, 2012). until the very end. (Heb. 5) The Apostles walking in His footsteps, too. (Gal. 6:6-10; 1 Peter 2:1525) Does your walk look like Jesus’ and His Apostles? God responded to the Israelite’s cries in the fullness of time. (Ex. 2:23-25; Ex. 3:9-10) And yes, there comes a time when
you WALK WITH GOD that even YOUR ENEMIES will attest to the ANOINTING OF GOD upon your LIFE…Like it or not! (Acts 5:2942) It’s all about God’s glory. There are two sides to EVERY STORY. Jesus had 12 to carry HIS STORY and then there were the Phari-
sees, Sadducees and others who told THEIR VERSION OF IT. While both versions remain, even to this day, the true POWER OF GOD only stands with THE ONE who HOLDS HIS TRUTH. (Luke 24:44-48; John 21:18; Mark 16:14-18; Matt. 28:2810) God displays HIS FAVOR upon
LIVES just because HE CAN! (John 8:1-12; Psalm 41) Until Next Week – Part XIII…Stay Connected! Stay Blessed! Lady Dr. Phelencia A.
