Sharjah & Ajman City Tour Reminisce the ancient times! With this tour, you will visit the neighboring emirates of Sharjah and Ajman, with an Englishspeaking tour guide. Sharjah, the third biggest emirate is famous for its Islamic architecture and has been recognized as the Cultural City of the Arab world by UNESCO. The tour includes a stop at the country’s second biggest mosque, the King Faisal Mosque followed by the drive through the emirate’s labyrinth of exquisitely constructed buildings. Following the tour around Sharjah, you will visit Ajman, the smallest one among all the seven emirates. Off we will go to the Museum located at the newly renovated Fort of Ajman. We will drive along Corniche to see the panoramic view of Ajman before heading back to Sharjah. Our next stop is at the renovated Al Nabooda House, a preserved heritage site about 150 year old, to show us a glimpse of how people lived then, sheltering several generations and different extended family members under one roof. Abu Dhabi City Tour Explore the picturesque capital! Just when the sun has freshly risen, we will start moving towards Abu Dhabi, the impressive capital of the U.A.E. Al Ain City Tour Appreciate the cultural tapestry We will let you experience the other side of the U.A.E. With the full-day tour in Al Ain you will revisit the past that defines what is present. Al Ain, known as the “Garden City�, is an important stop on every caravan trail. You will first see the Al Ain University, the oldest university in the country then we will stop at Al Ain Museum that houses important archeological and ethnological collections. East Coast Full-Day Tour (Fujairah) Be amazed with the natural landscapes! With this tour, we will show you the fascinating panorama of the U.A.E.’s contrasting natural landscapes. Fujairah, the emirate that offers a different impression of the country, will excite you with its natural land formations and beautiful outline of the beachfront. We will stop at the traditional market, known as the Friday Market, where you can purchase local crafts, pots, carpets, fruits, and refreshments before we drive you through the arid and rugged mountains and canyons. Off we will precede to the fishing village of Dibba, after which we will take you to the country’s oldest and smallest mosque, the Badiyah Mosque. 1001 Adventures Tour* Experience camel rides and sand ski. We will engage you in an exhilarating desert adventure in the vast desert. Leaving early morning from your hotel, we will drive you through our campsite in Al Aweer**, where a half-hour camel ride awaits you. Shortly after the break, we will sand cruise through one of the biggest sand dunes in the region for a breathtaking sand skiing. A big craze in the U.A.E., sand skiing will provide fun to all ages. Hatta Safari* Get thrilled by a great off road adventure! A 4 x 4 vehicle will fetch you from your hotel early in the morning for an off road adventure. We will drive through rough roads along the radiant red sands and green fields of Al Aweer and Al Hibab. We will be greeted by the magnificence of red dunes as we reach Nizwa and continue our journey through the passage merging the desert of Rub’ Al Khali and the western region. Aquaventure at Atlantis Get mystified by the clear waters! Complete your Atlantis experience with Aquaventure. Aquaventure has its own magnificent 700-meter beach, allowing visitors to combine a day at the water park with time by the sea. Within the park itself, pool deck areas provide space where you can relax before setting out on the next heart-stopping aquatic adventure. At the heart of Aquaventure is the Ziggurat, an immense monument over thirty metres tall that launches the bold and brave down the near vertical Leap of Faith, then through a shark-filled lagoon. Tips for Tourists Weather Dubai’s weather changes with the season so it’s hot in the summer, but wonderfully cool and pleasant in the winter months, which last for at least 6 months in the year. The mercury can rise up to 45° C in the summer. In the winter season temperatures average around 23° C. It’s a good idea to always carry a cap, maybe an umbrella and couple of bottles of water with you when you’re out shopping or sightseeing, so you can combat any kind of weather. Local Time UAE is GMT +4. Currency The monetary unit is AED Dirham (Dhs), which is divided into 100 fils. The dirham has been held constant against the US Dollar since the end of 1980 at a mid-rate of approximately US$ 1 = Dh 3.67. Most international banks have offices in Dubai and there are various money exchange houses throughout the city. Language While the official language is Arabic, English is also widely spoken and understood. Religion Islam is the official religion of the UAE. Ramadan Once a year the holy month of Ramadan, the period of fasting, takes place in Islamic countries, one of the most important festivities in the Islamic calendar. Ramadan moves every year 11 days forward due to Islamic calculation of times according to the moon calendar. It ends with Eid al Fitr, a three days lasting celebration. During Ramadan it is not allowed to eat, drink or smoke in public between sunrise and sunset. This is also applicable to non-Muslims in order not to disturb the fasting of the believers. However every hotel in the UAE serves breakfast, lunch and breakfast for non-Muslims in the restaurants, which are covered, so that it is not visible from outside. Room service is also offered. After the sunset the fasting is interrupted by the so-called iftar by eating yoghurt, dates and drinking water. In these 20 minutes one often has the impression that time is being stopped. Afterwards a regular dinner starts at around 21.00 hrs. Alcoholic drinks are served in most of the bars and hotel restaurants in Dubai after the sunset to non-Muslims. Visiting the UAE during Ramadan is an amazing cultural experience for every non-Muslim.
Public Holidays In the UAE and other Arabic countries there are some public holidays whose exact date depends on the moon and can’t be fixed in advance (e.g. Eid-holidays after the holy month of Ramadan). Despite our effort to arrange all visits as per the scheduled programs, it can happen that some are not possible due to public holidays. In general it is not allowed to serve alcohol and live entertainment one day prior to the public holiday (e.g. belly dance is not possible in the camp). Clothing Light cottons and summer wear is ideal as Dubai has a tropical climate most of the year. Visitors should carry a few light woolens during the winter months. Shorts and skirts are acceptable for ladies, though clothes that are too revealing may not be appreciated. Moreover, clothing should not be transparent, or display obscene pictures and slogans. All visitors to Dubai’s official government buildings as well as business buildings and office towers should adopt an official business casual dress code. Access may be denied if dress code is considered inappropriate. Beachgoers-men and women-should wear conservative swimwear that is acceptable to Dubai’s culture. Nudity is strictly forbidden in every part of the city and is liable to be punished by imprisonment or deportation. Photography You should not take any picture of local people especially of women, without asking. You aren’t allowed to take pictures of Palaces, Military, Police, Airport and any other public institution. Opening Hours The local weekend is officially Friday and Saturday. Shopping malls however open throughout the week. During the week most of the shopping malls are opened from 10:00-22:00 during the weekend from 10:00-24:00 (especially large shopping malls, like Deira City Center, Mall of the Emirates and the Dubai Mall). Souks are usually open from 10:00-13:00 and from 16:00-22:00 (subject to change). The opening hours of the banks are from 8:00 – 13:00 on Sunday-Thursday and on Saturday from 8:00-13:00 and 16:30-20:30. Restaurants There are many restaurants in the UAE offering a full range of national and international cuisine. Alcohol is served only in hotel restaurants. City restaurants serve only soft drinks. You may be asked to pay additional tax to your bill, generally 10%. This information is mentioned on the menu/carte.
Transportation In spite the fact that cars and taxis are the most common mean of transport in the UAE, there is an eficient public transportation network, especially in Dubai (buses, metro). All taxis have a taximeter, however in Dubai the basic charge is 10 Dhs. Inside metro stations you can buy several types of metro/bus tickets. Tipping As in most modern cities, tipping is considered the norm in Dubai. At a restaurant or a coffee shop, a 10%-15% tip is accepted. Taxi drivers accept a few dirhams with a smile. When cheking out, one should leave around 10 Dhs for each day stayed for the housekeeping staff. Portes and valets are tipped anywhere from 5-10 Dhs. Alcohol Alcohol is available in clubs and in restaurants and bars located in the hotels. Restaurants outside the hotels are not permitted to sell alcohol. You cannot purchase alcohol in Dubai for consumption at home unless you have a special alcohol license. Buyers should respect the local culture by carrying their alcohol in paper bags such that it cannot be seen. The UAE has adopted a zero-tolerance policy in terms of driving under the effect of alcohol. Smoking Smoking is not allowed in government facilities, offices, malls and shops. Smoking outside designated areas is subject to fine. Drugs Holding, consuming, buying or selling any kind of illegal substance-in any quantity as well as being tested positive to any drug by the authorities in the UAE is considered a crime. Some medicines containing psychotropic substances are forbidden in the UAE. Their holders must carry a prescription from a UAE-licensed medical doctor. Visitors should verify that their medicines are allowed in the UAE before entering the country. Electricity The voltage system in Dubai is 220 Volts and 3-pin sockets are available everywhere.
