Exploring Interiority This portfolio is my journey of exploring the idea of interority about looking out from the inside and vice versa. “Interiority” is not bound by a physical scale of intervention. It can apply to The Flux where it is about the connection of the building to Rome or it can be about the properties of Cork that allow the installation to be placed inside or out in Fluid Boundaries. Or it can be about Hermes’ window displays creating a spatial feeling within the constraints of a window. Or it can be about the feeling of interiority created in an urban context through placement of built form in the Harbor Connect. Thus exploring the idea of interiority through various lenses and scales of projects.

Project: The Flux Location: Rome, Italy Academic: Grad RISD Year of the Project: 2019 ̶ The Flux is inspired by Baroque architecture in Rome’s urban fabric. It enhances the moments of compression and release that were already present in the Cenci. The idea is to establish a connection between the old and the new, the inside and outside, by extracting moments in the city and transferring them into the building and at the same time enhancing these moments in the building. ̶ AutoCad, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Rhino 3D, Vray

̶ The Iconic Electric Blue of Rhythm House was painted red to renew its identity. For the space within, a grunge / distressed language is used for the furniture and fixtures, owing to the designer’s signature style. For this project, I worked on the initial layouts, design concept development (the moving clothes rack and used of technology across the store) as well as the material palette (wood, brass, marble and more).

HERMES WINDOW DISPLAY VISUAL MERCHANDISE - ARCHITECTURAL RUINS
We chose Architectural Ruins of Indian Palaces as a setting to demonstrates Hermes yearly theme of “Nature at full Gallop”. 46
This particular set of windows was a tribute to the Hermes artist - Robert Dallet who was famous for his drawings of the feline family featured on Hermes Scarves. RUCHIKA SHAH // SELECTED WORKS : PROFESSIONAL
HERMES WINDOW DISPLAY VISUAL MERCHANDISE - SIMPLE MACHINES
These windows also come under the theme of “Object Sense”. Inspired by the complex contraptions created by American cartoonist and illustrator Rube Goldberg, the Hermes Mumbai windows are a series of whimsical contraptions each triggered by a curious animal- setting off a domino effect. 48

Project: Fluid Boundaries - Cork Lab Location: Providence Rhode Island Academic: Grad RISD Year of the Project: 2018 In collaboration with Alia M. ̶ This project has been about exploring the versatility of cork. We tested the flexibility and developed on the “appealing to touch” aspect of the material. The 3-Dimensional module explorations not only serve the purpose of being decorative but also add to the acoustic insulation of a space. Carving away from a large block also lightens the piece. The “object” satisfies all the needs of the modern user – Adjustable, permeable and it appeals to the visual and tactile senses. ̶ AutoCad, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Rhino 3D, Vray CNC milling and Wood Workshop

Project: Invisible Cities Projection Mapping Location: Providence, Rhode Island Academic: Grad RISD Year of the Project: 2019 In collaboration with Danni Y. ̶ Our narrative was inspired by one of Italo Calvino’s cities from Invisible City. It is our take on the story. It consists of 3 pivotal scenes - The forest, the City and the House. What we see is a person walking through a dense forest as he is slowly being lifted from the ground and above the clouds he discovers a City. He goes close to the city and within a house. Ultimately the story zooms back out to remind the viewer of the location of the house, within that floating city. ̶ Illustrator, Photoshop, Aftereffects, Rhino 3D, MadMapper, Cinema 4D

Private Collection is a high-end chain of Mens footwear in Middle eastern countries. We had already designed one such store for them; However due to the increase in size of this store, we introduced a VIP room which is a semi private space in the center of the store. I worked on the layout and then developed the VIP Room. I also worked on the pattern for the embroidered wooden tiles and production drawings of the store post approval of design.

Project: Tourist Information Center Location: Van Vihar, Bhopal Academic: Undergrad KRVIA Year of the Project: 2014 Ěś Water is used as a prominent element across the structure. The building is deliberately placed along the natural flow of the water on site. Water being a versatile element is used in various ways through the building to make a visitor conscious about his surroundings. It is used in a reflective pool; on either side of the stairs to isolate the passer by as he actively hears the water flow, used above a passage to light up the space and it is also used to step over it to enhance the user experience. Ěś AutoCad, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketchup, Vray
