Dear Hereford Breeders,
I want to thank you all for supporting me to represent our state as the 2025 Nebraska State Hereford Queen. My name is Kailin Riessland and I am the daughter of Cody and Heidi Riessland and I have 3 siblings, Chance, Saige and Sutton. I am 18 years old and a senior at Pleasanton Public High School, with plans to attend Hastings Community College in Graphic Arts. I am very involved in 4H in Buffalo County and FFA at Pleasanton Public. The Hereford breed has always been a part of the family with both my grandfather Ken and greatgrandfather Ike being involved in the breed. I have been involved myself with the breed the last several years with showing and now getting to promote the breed as the Queen. I love the Hereford Association because it has always been so welcoming to us and the members are always so willing to help. I am looking forward to meeting many breeders as I travel the state and advocate for the breed as I go to shows, sales, and other events. Again, thank you for allowing me to represent the state as your 2025 Nebraska Hereford Queen.

Embryo transfer and artificial insemination have helped accelerate our herd to a new level. Our father, Bill Kester, started in the Hereford industry by purchasing 12 Hereford heifers from Grabenstien Herefords in 1989 and then began breeding for high maternal traits, carcass efficiency, and performance. We reside roughly 1.5 miles east of Clearwater, on the north side of HWY 275. Today we run 100 registered Hereford spring cows, 50 spring recips, 25 registered Hereford fall cows, and 25 fall recips. We’ve raised females that are currently listed in the top 200 cows in the Hereford industry along with many Dams of Distinction. Located 1 mile west of Heartwell on Q Road. The registered and commercial cowherd uses KJ HVH 33N Redeem 485T ET and his sons. New sires include S&S Victor 39A, a KJ 3027 son and a Revolution bull from Rausch Herefords. We also run a 1000 head, Hereford influenced, back grounding feedlot. Visitors always welcome.

Go east of Curtis on 23, you will go 3 miles East then hwy curves north for 3 more miles. When it curves back to the east again there will be a gravel road 395 going north. Go north on 395 for 1 mile to road 750, turn east on road 750 a 1/4 mile then north on Snell road for 2.5 miles. The green buildings and feedlot is us. The sires we have currently been using is Churchill Sherman 2157, Churchill Merit 329, NJW 79Z 0186 Domino 263, HH Advance 2297 and H Hightime 2220, along with AI’ing to new sires. Majority of our bulls are sold on a bull sale and rest are sold private treaty, along with registered and commercial females sold privately.
