Bluefield (5-0, 1-0 MSC) vs. St. Catharine (3-0, 0-0 MSC) Saturday, November 17, 2012 | 2 p.m. EST Dome Gymnasium (800) | Bluefield, Va. STORY LINES

Bluefield and St. Catharine are each coming off wins against NAIA Top-25 teams. The Rams shocked the conference in their Mid-South debut with a ten point (83-73) victory over the sixth ranked Georgetown Tigers at home on Thursday while St. Catharine went on the road and defeated No. 22 Bethel (Tenn.) in a non-conference contest in their last game. Both teams enter Saturday’s game undefeated. BC has stormed out of gates winning contests over Virginia Intermont (82-59), Allen (S.C.) (84-48), Bluefield State (72-63), and Mount Vernon Nazarene (69-43), before opening the MSC slate on Thursday with that 83-73 win over No. 6 Georgetown. The Rams have scored an average of 78 points per game while winning by nearly 21 points. The perfect start for Melissa J Baker’s squad is a two game improvement on their first five games from a year ago ... a season that finished 2212 and a sixth place finish at the NCCAA National Championship. The Patriots who haven’t played in 11 days open their MidSouth Conference schedule today against the Rams defeated Martin Methodist (72-53), Asbury (82-78), and No. 22 Bethel (73-68) to enter today’s game 3-0. The Rams are led by last years All-American Honorable Mention Tequila McNeal (20.2), newcomer Ashley White (14.2) and junior Janee Simmons (9.6). McNeal recorded a career high 32 points against Georgetown while Simmons recorded her second straight double-double. BC also gets solid bench production from Alexis Allen and Sharonda Tate who scored season highs of 13 and 12 points respectively against Bluefield State. St. Catharine is lead by four double digit scorers, Reilly Poirier (24.3), Janae Howard (19.0), Rianne Hofstraat (11.0), and Heather Sandlin (10.3). The Patriots however have missed their scoring (17.3) and rebounding (8.4) leader from a year ago since Howard has missed the last two games. Alexiss Griffin has picked up the load since that time scoring an average of 11.5 points in the last two games.
