2012 BLUEFIELD COLLEGE MEN’S SOCCER NOTES TODAY’S MATCH PREVIEW– Bluefield vs. Concord, Sept 5, 7:00pm The men’s soccer team competes today for the 2nd time amongst a span of four games in 9 days both at home and on the road. They enter with an overall record of 1-2 while the Moutain Lions of Concord University arrive to Bluefield with a 0-1-1 record entering Thursday’s contest. The Mountain Lions (NCAA–Div II, WVIAC) finished in a 0-0 draw vs. Muskingum, and have yet to score in their first two matches. Bluefield has opened their season up with three matches with the same exact score of 3-2 on opponents, while earning one victory in those three matches. (2 away, 1 home) The two teams met last year in Athens, WV where the Rams beat Concord 2-0 on two secondhalf goals by Jacob Mader and Dan Turpin. They are 2-2 vs. one another over the last 4 seasons.

IN THE PREVIOUS MATCH The Rams traveled to South Carolina this past Monday for a Labor Day showdown versus SSAC powerhouse, Southern Wesleyan, who was receiving national Top 25 votes from a year ago, after knocking off the #1 team in the nation in 2011. The Rams gave up an early first half goal, and found themselves down 2-0 just eight minutes into the 2nd half until F Fwd Mouhammed Dieye scored the opening goal for the Rams. The Warriors slotted in a 3rd goal, but the Rams tallied on a nice hustling play by Jacob Mader. Michael Callaghan picked up two assists for BC, as they couldn't tally the equalizing goal.
