ADAPTABILITY

With the aim of responding to the Museum’s need to be itinerant and be able to develop over several possible scenarios, the proposal includes 4 basic elements, simple in transportation and assembly, capable of taking on a wide variety of configurations. The basic and hinge element of the museum is certainly the container, present in two lengths, 6 and 12 meters. Access to them is provided by an external staircase, which thanks to the contrasting color will signal entry and exit. In case a change of elevation is planned, an interior staircase, minimal and sculptural, in perfect dialogue with the display elements, enters the exhibition dynamic. What links these 3 elements, giving them spatial coherence and continuity, are the scaffolds, made of modules of innocent pipes and platforms, which give great visual impact and refer the public to the imagery of the shipyard.

THE PUBLIC SPACE

On these premises, 4 proposals are developed, characterized by a different use of space and modular elements, adept of generating different public places each time.

The 4 configurations are divided by height:

- THE STRIPE: this configuration is developed on a single level, allows the viewer to read the exhibition as a continuous path, a single line, and is detached from the ground leaving the container element floating as if it were that famous “sea bird that never stops”;

- THE SQUARE: this second proposal involves a square arrangement of the containers and an overlapping of them, generating an interior space, welcoming and at the same time open, able to act as a public square;

- THE STAGE: this third way is developed on 3 levels of height and, thanks to the use of high scaffolding on the facade and possibly large canvas, allows the organization of events related to the Museum, such as concerts, projections and conferences;

- THE TERRACE: the last version of the proposal is the highest and the most majestic, capable of surprising and showing unusual views of the city and generally hidden to most: the so-called “belvedere”.

T

The Nautical Micro Museum exhibition project develops over an extensive axis across all containers. The story, the iconic and the actual models, communicate between themselves and follow one another, connected by the same architectural language and history linearity. The reference to the nautical world and the history of vessels is continuous and precise, with direct mentions of elements present in the boats and the use of construction materials only. The chosen material and colour palette produces an ongoing and homogeneous spectator path between inside and outside, despite the changing quota and space. Hence, the exhibit can develop over one or more vertical levels, depending on the site requi rements, without losing the linearity and the completeness that characterizes it.
