The Rug Buyer’s Guide to
GREENERY Color of the Year 2017
FROM THE
EDITORS Welcome to the inaugural edition of RugNews.com Special Reports and Shopping Guides: our first-ever series of e-magazines curated to inspire all lovers of design. In our premiere issue, we’ve blazed the trail for rug buyers at January home furnishings markets, leading the way to Greenery, Pantone’s Color of the Year 2017. Our exploration leads to the roots of this vibrant hue and illustrates how relevant the tone has become among top fashion houses and the design community. Thus, this magazine is so much more than a basic color story. Our mission is to present area rugs as the quickest, easiest and most striking update on the market. Rugs are transformative, bringing runway and haute interior trends into the consumer’s home, regardless of budget. Carol Tisch, Editorial Director
A personal favorite, green in all its effervescent flavors gets the attention it rightly deserves after being out of the design limelight for years. Cutting-edge designers had already been dabbling in the lush shade by the time color-expert Pantone proclaimed Greenery the Color of 2017 and made the yellow-green tone a pop hit. As we all head to top winter home furnishing fairs beginning in Atlanta and Domotex, and then make our way to points west in Dallas and Las Vegas, your trusty Rug Editeurs at RugNews.com provide the comprehensive canvas upon which to draw inspiration. From fashion runways to fashionable floors, we’ve got the ground covered. Lisa Vincenti, Editor

eometries
Green Inventive geometrics simultaneously bring style and order to interior and architectural designs. Moving in lockstep with fashion runway trends, rugs at winter 2017 shows combine Greenery with geometric motifs featuring interlocking grids, curved angles and lots of triangles. Fresh contemporary interpretations of geometric patterns dating back to ages-old Middle Eastern, African and Asian cultures, today’s crop of geometric rugs add punch to traditional, contemporary and mid-century modern dÊcor.
