Favored style of end suction pump
The two standard has often comparatively taken me to a number of different plants that use both ANSI pumps and API pumps. It became apparent that, in a very few cases, there seemed to be some confusion regarding the differences between these two process pumping operating styles. This was causing users to purchase the less expensive with great efficiency ANSI pump.
Some international standards deal with pumps. In fact, many countries have their own standards, which more or less overlap other pumping standard. A standard ANSI pump complies with international pumping regulations pertaining to the pump’s duty point. The Standard ANSI pump is designed and built to the standards of the American National Standards Institute. Over the many years, the ANSI pump has become the favored style of end suction pumps, for both chemical process applications and also for water and other less aggressive services. The ANSI Standard provides for dimensional interchangeability of pumps from one manufacturer to another. All high Performance ANSI pump casings are mounted on feet projecting from the underside of the casing and bolted tightly base plate. If these pumps are used in high temperature applications, the casing will expand upwards from the mounting feet and cause severe thermal stresses in the casing which will detrimentally really affect the consistency of the pump. Operation at lower temperatures will not be affected by this. Article Source:- http://ruhrpumpen1.wordpress.com/2013/11/08/favored-style-of-end-suctionpump/
