River widening of Overdiepse Polder
Current situation
The dyke on the river Bergsche Maas is being lowered, allowing river water to flow through the Overdiepse Polder during high water as a result. On average, this will occur every 25 years. A new dyke will be constructed along the Oude Maasje. The eight farming companies remaining in the polder will be moved to dwelling mounds.
