The Oxford chair by Arne Jacobsen was reshaped in 2003 according to the curves and dimensions of Arne Jacobsen’s original design from 1965. The result is a slimmer, beautiful and comfortable chair. Suitable as a conference chair, desk chair, guest chair and lounge chair.

ARNE JACOBSEN 1902 - 1971 Our cooperation with Arne Jacobsen dates back to 1934, but it was in 1952 the break-through came with the Ant chair. It was succeeded by the 3107 series in 1955. This propelled his and Fritz Hansen’s names into furniture history. The Oxford chair was originally designed for St. Catherine’s College in 1963. Over the years, the chair grew thicker and its appearance changed. 40 years after the introduction, the Oxford chair was revitalized and today looks more like the original. A more sculptural appearance has been obtained. The chair is available in tall or low back and lounge model, each with different options, e.g. castors and arms, leather or fabric upholstery. In 2008 it is also available with medium high back. Arne Jacobsen was and is an admired and outstanding designer. While the significance of Arne Jacobsen’s buildings was less appreciated, his furniture and other design work have become national and international heritage.

DESIGN Arne Jacobsen, 1965 - Redesign 2003/2005/2007 DESCRIPTION Series of chairs and armchairs for use in the office, guest, conference and lounge as well as in the private home. Designed by Arne Jacobsen, manufactured by Fritz Hansen. FINISH The shell is moulded wood comprising 7 layers of beech and 2 layers of poplar. The shell is upholstered with polyurethane foam and covered with fabric or leather. The armrest is moulded aluminium. The base is a 5-star base of moulded aluminium. Lounge models have a 4-star base. Chairs with a fixed seat height are provided with toes in black-grey synthetic material. Chairs with height adjustment are provided with tilt mechanism and double castors with aluminium caps. Base and arms are satin polished. UPHOLSTERY Oxford is upholstered with moulded polyurethane foam. The padding is 15-28 mm. The chair is upholstered with the Kvadrat fabrics Tonus, Topas, Hallingdal, Divina, Bespoke Stripe, Steelcut, Oda, Fame or Scuba. Oxford is also upholstered with Comfort microfiber from Gabriel, Standard leather (1 colour) Soft leather (5 colours), Natural leather (1 colour), White leather (1 colour) or Elegance (3 colours). ENVIRONMENT AND TESTS For environmental reasons all parts of Oxford can be dismantled. The plastic material can be granulated and recycled and the aluminium can be melted and recycled. The Oxford chairs have been GS certified (Gepr端fte Sicherheit) by LGA in Nuremberg in Germany. They meet EN 1728 for strength and durability, level 4 according to DS/INF 130; and EN 1022 and EN 1335 for stability. GUARANTEE A five-year guarantee against manufacturing defects in standard products (materials and workmanship). Wear, tear and damage to the product is not covered under this warranty. Claims from end users under the guarantee must be submitted to the vendor from whom the product was purchased. All measurements are indicative.

VARIETIES Oxford chairs and armchairs are available with low, medium high or high back, with castors or toes, with fixed seat height or height adjustment. Accessories also include mirror chromed base and arms, leather arm pads, automatic return mechanism, glides, castors with or without brake action for hard or soft floors.
