Why Do People Think Email Marketing Is Dead? Although I have mentioned above email marketing is not going to anywhere, there are several reasons that prompt people think it is dead. Here are some reasons:

1. Social Media Marketing One of the too reasons behind why people think email marketing is dead is that over some past decades social media has been booming out rapidly. Around half of the world, the population is using some types of social networking sites. 64% of users say they prefer watching video contents on social before deciding to purchase products, and 43% of online stores receive the telling amount of traffic from their social media accounts. In 2018, Facebook informs that it has around 2.32 billion monthly active users which in 2019 spiked up to 2.41 billion monthly active users.

According to Optinmonster, email marketing is far more effective and can outdo social media marketing in different ways. No doubt this excessively booming of social media has triggered many experts say social media marketing is going to replace email marketing.

2. Inappropriate Emailing No customer or prospect likes receiving emails that are out of their interest. These emails seem to them irrelevant so they do not open them or move them to spam folders. This is a huge mistake people often make when sending promotional emails. Moreover, using too long paragraphs, stuffing too many pictures and links make prospects mark those emails as spams. They tend to avoid them ASAP.

3. GDPR Act Implementation of the GDPR Act in Europe has led a bunch of email marketers to face problems while collecting personal information from European citizens. This act was brought to effect on May 25, 2018. The purpose of this law is to protect the very privacy as well as personal information of EU citizens.

According to GDPR regulations, both the companies located within the EU and outside of the EU have to take permission from the European citizens before collecting their personal data and information. This GDPR Act needs companies to offer customers an opt-in form in order to collect their personal data. This is another reason why people think that email marketing is dead.

However, do you want to know how you can improve your email marketing strategy? I will help you. Here below I shared 10 best tips for performing an effective email marketing for your business.

10 Tips To Write Cool Emails 1. Personalize Your Email Making an email highly personalized helps customers connect with you easily. People often love to listen to their own names. When you call them by their names it sounds familiar and highly engaging. So making your marketing email personalized is the first step you should do. This is an era of personalization. However, it is very lamentable that only 5% of companies write an extensively personalized email for their prospects which is very low.

2. Use A Real Email Address A real email address should look like nametitle0004@gmail.com, not name@website.com. This creates a bad impression. There creates a feeling that you are spamming them; you are an email-bot. So when sending email always use your real email address.

3. Send Emails on Weekends Sending emails on weekends is highly effective. People love to read their emails on weekends from mobile rather than from desktops and webmail. A report shows that 60% of people open emails during the weekend, especially on Saturday and Sunday. And 51%-55% people check emails Monday through Friday.

4. Optimize Emails For Mobile Devices Making emails responsive for mobile devices can hugely increase the user experience and add value to the prospects. Most of the reports prove that 50% of all email opening comes from mobile devices. Especially the youngsters use the mobile more than the older. 4/7

5. Make Your Email Subject line Eye-Catching There is a proverb in English that is the First impression is the last impression. So what you write in your subjects line matters a lot whether the reader will open your email or not. Subject lines are the first things that give your reader a sense of understanding what this email is about. Write down your email titles short and sweet. The too-long title will get cut off especially when readers are using mobile devices. This tip if followed properly can highly enhance your email opening rates.

6. Add Value to Your Readers In order to get more engagements in email marketing, you should try to give as much valuable information as possible to your readers. The first few lines of your email content should be interesting and should clearly denote what is going to happen next. For example, you can start your content asking a question to your readers or maybe you can offer them something else, etc. It is up to you how to make it sound interesting. Your readers should not feel that they are wasting their time on useless contents. Besides, try not to elaborate your subject within the email; you can give some juicy information following a link that will take them to your website or blog for more information.

7. Segmentation Is Very Important When it comes to email marketing segmentation plays a significant role. You will not like to accept food advice when you are dealing with a tech website, is not it? So segmentation is very important. Send emails to prospects having a relevant interest. This will help you get large engagements and click-through rates on your email.

8. Add One or Two Video Contents in Your Email Adding video contents to emails can fire up click-through rates by up to 300%, experts believe. Moreover, in today’s world, many customers tend to purchase products after watching some video contents. As per a study conducted by Brightcove, it is said that 85% of millennial-aged between 18-34 have purchase products after seeing videos.

9. Don’t Forget The Closing Statement Can you imagine how much significance a closing statement holds in email marketing? It holds big importance in respect of click-through rate. A study found that giving a statement like “thanks in advance” boosts up response rate by 65.7% that is very good. Forgetting the closing statement in the email would be like a half-cooked food and surely nobody is going to like it. 5/7

10. Must Add A Call To Action A call-to-action is anything that helps readers take the next action immediately executing the prior action. This could be anything from the “Buy Now” button to “find out more” or “read more”. Link up these types of phrases with your website link to help your readers read more information. This tip will help you get more engagements in your emails. While many marketers argue that email marketing is going to be extinct some believe in its bright future. What do you think?
