PERSONAL TUTOR Your Personal Tutor is here to offer you academic support and pastoral care all year round. Whether you need help with work or you are having personal issues, your personal tutor will be able to advise you and offer support. They will also be able to help you if you wish to apply for Extenuating Circumstances. TAKE A WALK Exercise can help boost energy levels, clear the mind and relieve stress. So if things are starting to feel too much, just take a moment and stretch your legs in a new environment.

EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES If you are faced with personal, medical or family problems that are outside of your control which negatively impact your academic performance, you should make your school aware so they can take appropriate action. You should talk to your Personal Tutor or Senior Tutor of your school and they will be able to guide you. You can also talk to your Student Support Coordinator or speak to the RUSU Advice Service. DRUG AND ALCOHOL SUPPORT IRiS is the drug and alcohol treatment provider for Reading students, who run drop in sessions within the RUSU Advice Service. IRiS believes in treating the person not the problem. They are here to support you in making decisions to be safe and with the right help, should you want it, cut down or stop your substance use. DID YOU KNOW? Reading University Students’ Union (RUSU) is an independent charity, based on the Whiteknights campus, that exists to represent, support and provide opportunities for all students studying at the University of Reading. As a student, you are automatically a member of the union. Within the union building we have a number of venues, including Mojo’s Bar/Kitchen, Starbucks, and 3sixty the largest nightclub in Reading and lots more. All money you spend within RUSU goes into improving and developing student activities, representation, volunteering, support, advice, social opportunities and running campaigns such as RUSU says RELAX for Reading Students.
