Reading University Students’ Union (RUSU) is a democratic organisation led by students, for students, with 5 elected student officers leading the organisation. Each with individual roles and remits, they are responsible for ensuring different aspects of your university life are as enjoyable as possible. Every year we hold elections for the full-time roles, to run RUSU. Your Engagement and Communication Officer, James, is responsible for Sports, Societies and Student Media within Student Activities. Twice a term there are activity group meetings for each of the different groups within Sports and Societies, where the committee and members of each society and club can raise ideas, issues and changes that they feel should be actioned. Past Engagement campaigns include the new AstroTurf being laid and University policy to keep Wednesday afternoons free from lectures, for student participation in activities. Also contained within Student Activities are JCR’s and Volunteering. Your Community and Development Officer, Ben, is responsible for Volunteering. Whilst Oli, RUSU President, is responsible for JCR’s.
